Introduction
This is quick guide for the Crucible. In some ways, this technique will provide you with a head-start for the normal game and is very easy to accomplish.

Updated to: Grim Dawn: v1.0.2.1 and includes the new expansion: Ashes of Malmouth
Devotion Points Costs
Below you will find a list of how much it will cost you to earn your devotion points through the Crucible using the tribute that you earn.

Devotion Points Costs
  • 1-5 Devotion Points = costs 3 Tribute Points
  • 6-10 Devotion Points = costs 5 Tribute Points
  • 11-25 Devotion Points = costs 10 Tribute Points
  • 26-40 Devotion Points = costs 18 Tribute Points
  • 41-50 Devotion Points = costs 30 Tribute Points
  • 51-55 Devotion Points = Unable to purchase with Tribute Points (Ashes of Malmouth)
The beginning
What you do is you start the normal campaign, level your character to level 2 and stop. Start the crucible and clear the first 10 waves. STOP at this point.

Obtaining your devotion points & leveling
End the Crucible and collect your rewards, which include 3 tribute points.

After the first wave and stopping the crucible, you will level up to level 7 or 8.

Turn the 3 tribute points in here to collect your first devotion point.
Rinse & Repeating
Do this 4 more times for 3 tributes per run and each time you will need to turn those tributes into devotion points.

Level 13

Your first 5 Devotion Points

SIDE NOTE: At this point, it will get you to 5 devotion before you even hit your first shrine in the normal campaign. Assuming that you will get all of the shrines in normal and elite, this will result in you getting a perfect 50/50 devotion without having to step foot in ultimate. However, if you want even more levels & devotion points, continue reading.
More levels & devotions
Once you get to level 13 and your first 5 devotion points, you have 2 choices.

1. Stop and start the normal game
2. Continue with the Crucible and get to 10 devotions and level 18.

If you want to continue, this is what you must do.

Repeat the method that has been mentioned previously 7 more times. This time however, you will need 5 points instead of 3. This means that on every other "wave" you will turn your tribute points into devotion points.

When you are done, you will be around level 18 and have 10 devotion points. This will also take you in total between 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete. (depending on your character build)

Getting to 50 Devotion points
If you followed my guide and got the 10 devotion points through the Crucible, you will have all 50 devotion points by the time you get to Homestead in Elite. This is also assuming you get all of the shrines up to that point.

Getting to 55 Devotion points (Ashes of Malmouth)
In the expansion "Ashes of Malmouth" we have the chance to obtain an extra 5 devotion shrines.

Like previously with "getting to 50 Devotion points", if you have followed my guide and obtained the 10 devotion points through the Crucible and you have the expansion "Ashes of Malmouth", you will have all 55 devotion points by the time you get to Homestead in Elite. This is also assuming you get all of the shrines up to that point.

The 5 new devotion shrines with the expansion can be seen below:

Leaderboard Scores
If for any reason you want to delete the Crucible's leaderboard scores from Grim Dawn you need to do the following:

  • Go to: C:\Users\Wolfen\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save
NOTE: Wolfen represents your name for your PC
  • Look for the "leaderboard.brd" file
  • OPTIONAL: make a back-up of the file
  • Delete it.

This resets your leaderboard scores for the Crucible. You may want to do this, if you are using this guide for leveling many differant characters, as the personal leaderboard will be crowded with low scores that are not that important.
Ending note
This guide was made with the intention of helping and giving new & old players a boost with new characters. I hope that you like it and if so, please give it a star and a thumbs up!!.

Thanks in Advance!!

The first devotion point costs 12 tributes now apparently. Is this still worth it?

this works best if you have a lokkarr set. for peeps having trouble who don't have lokkars use components to give yourself a bit of a buff.

There is a wave in the first 10 waves that will kill you easily. It's where a whole bunch of aetherial wisps enter the arena and hit you with that ranged aether bolt. Since you most likely have 0% aether resistance at this point, the wisps have a long range attack range, and all of them can attack you at the same time, they can kill you quickly. They have low health so if you can kill them fast enough and pop one health potion that can work. Alternatively, use a ranged weapon or spell and take pot shots at them while kiting out of their attack range intermittently to recover.

Why "7 more times"? You need 5*5=25 tributes which means "9 more times"

Nah, just had another go getting to 5 points, not a problem.

Make sure you get the potions from the corpse at the start. Otherwise once you do the first set, smooth sailing from there. Focus on one skill to start with and you'll do fine.

Maybe they buffed the mobs? Haven't been back in a while myself, will have a look this week.

I don't understand this. I die every time between waves four and five. Mobs are way too powerful and I have absolutely no way to heal. What am I doing wrong?

@The Solar Cobalt Crucible is a separate game mode from the campaign. You pick it in the main menu.
