Some do's and don'ts:
DO'S:
  • Occupy areas your team mates don't.
  • Learn to adapt to your team mates play style, if possible.
  • Recover fast when you miss your shot and can not follow through.

DON'TS:
  • DO NOT go more than one player for the ball.
  • DO NOT go for the lateral boosts when you are the goalie on countdown.
  • DO NOT take 100% boosts if you don't need, unless for a strategic steal from enemy.
  • DO NOT be an individualist.

(Some of these might seem so obvious, but you find MANY players who do these exact mistakes.)

1.Occupy areas your team mates don't.-on attack if your mate is in the wrong position then you shouldn't get in the right place for them (unless they are in a good defensive position)as it leaves you in a poor position to defend if your attack gets stopped.
2.DO NOT go more than one player for the ball.-generally yes but on certain situations its good to go for pinches, 2 person fakes, pop passes, ect.
3.DO NOT go for the lateral boosts when you are the goalie on countdown.-Pros almost always do this unless they arranged to do fakes. it allows you to get in to the game at the very start and have the boost. a good kick off your mate will call a side (left or right ) and if successful you will be on that side with 100 boost ready to go on the attack fro the get go if not then you should be easily able to get back in time.(at lower levels if you teammate is not comfortable on kick off then maybe stay in goal but plat diamond and above shouldn't miss kick-offs.)

Double and triple committing is the issue, not neccessarily 2 people being close. Yes, spacing is a huge role, but a lot of times in d3/c1 you need two on offense to make pass plays ect.

"Occupy areas your team mates don't."
I keep sitting in their net and we still lose.... what do?

"DO NOT go more than one player for the ball." dont really agree about that. It may be a good strategy in max plat. In diamond, 2 players will always defend a shot from one player in my opinion.
