Spear Combos Tutorial

This is a guide on how to do basic spear combos that goes more in depth than just stating the moves. This guide is for players who are new to spears and don't know how to perform the basic spearcombos very consistently. Most of my spear legends are in diamond ranked so I am pretty adept with the combos. If this guide helps you guys then please give it a thumbs up!

Introduction

I made a short 3:34 minute video with visual and written aid on this if you guys want to watch it! I'll write out the most important parts to doing the combos below.

Down Light into Side Air

This is the most reliable combo as it works form 0 damage to 150 damage very reliable at all ranges.

1. Down Light (hold down, press light attack)
2. Wait 5/6th second, jump into Side Air as soon as possible. I recommend holding forward before jumping, then press jump + light attack together.

At white and yellow damage, you have to hold backwards after you jump in to side air because your side air goes too far over the enemy hurtbox otherwise.. so there will be one extra step that looks like this.

1. Down Light ( hold down, press light attack)
2. wait 5/6th second, jump into Side Air as soon as possible. I recommend holding forward before jumping, then press jump + light attack together.
3. Immediately hold back (if you're Side Airing to the right you hold left and vice versa)

Side Light into Side Air

This combo is only reliable at white and light yellow damage. Once it gets to a solid yellow, you must do it up close for it to work, after orange it stops working.

1. Side Light (hold forward and press light attack)
2. Wait 3/4th of a second, jump into Side Air asap as mentioned above.

Side Light into Down Light into Side Air

This combo works similar to side light side air in terms of damage range. It works reliably at white and light yellow, needs to be really close at solid yellow and doesn't work after that point. It also doesn't work at the very max range at any health even white.

1. Side Light ( hold forward, press light attack)
2. wait 3/4th of a second, Down Light (hold down, press light attack)
3. wait 5/6th of a second, jump into Side Air asap as mentioned above.

Side air into Neutral Light

This combo again only works reliably at white and light yellow damage, once it hits yellow, you must perform it really close up and doesn't work after that. Also only works with any legend with 5 dex or more. So this excludes Gnash and Queen Nai at this current time.

1. Side Air grounded enemy (be in the air, hold forward, press light attack)
2. Wait about half a second, Neutral Light (hold up and press light attack or let go of all directional input and press light attack)

This combos needs the most precise timing out of all the combos so practice the timing on this one.

Down Light into Neutral Air

This combo is basically performed the same as down light into side air with timing and does less damage. It also suffers from only working reliably at white and light yellow damage, needs to be close at solid yellow and doesn't work after. This move is useless for the most part except for when you hit the enemy into the right floating island on twilight's grove, then you can't use Down Light into Side Air, you use this combo instead.

1. Down Light (hold down, press light attack)
2. wait 5/6th second, jump into Neutral Air as soon as possible. For the Neutral Air part, you can hold up before jumping and then jump + light attack at the same time or let go of all directional input when you jump and then press light attack.

Final thoughts

Spear combos requires a lot of precision and timing so it's really good to know when to do the inputs rather than spamming and hoping it would work. When I do the first 3 I can't hit the sair. It goes too far aswell when I do the slight, dlight sair, the sair dosent reach the enemy it goes too far and it wont work.
