RD_Asteroid and 2001: A space odyssey

There are many references to the 1968 movie 2001: A space odyssey in RD_Asteroid, the moonbase beta map. Here are examples.

HAL 9000

HAL 9000 is an antagonist robot in 2001: A Space Odyssey, with a red and black circle as eyes, they can be found all over the RED side of the map. Here are some of them.

The Monolith

The Monolith is a super computer(?) that stores imformation about humanity and has made humanity begin.There are rocks that very similar to the texture of the monolith within the hole at the center of the map.

The Pod Bay

The Pod Bay is were the enterance to the main ship is located. In here are objects on the wall that look similar to objects in RD_Asteroid
THE OXYGEN TANKS(?)
The oxygen tanks(?) can be seen on the left side of the room in 2001, but in TF2, they can be found next to the front of the RED base. Here are the two pictures.

THE SMALL RED CONTAINERS(?)
The small red containers(?) can be seen on the right side, and in tf2 are located on each wall with buttons and computers, here are them pictures side to side.

Other Locations.

THE MONOLITH MINE
The mine of the monolith, is the mine where the monolith was found on the Moon. In tf2, there are structures with similar architecture to the mine. Here are examples.

HAL ROOM
The HAL room, is where Dave, deactivates HAL by taking out square chips, in TF2, there is a part of the wall with square chips, some in, some out, and some halfway out, similar to the look of the movie, with a black HAL-like object next to it.



SWITCHES
Many Swiches apprear in the 2001: A space odyssey, there are switches in tf2, on the walls, that look very similar.

Conclusion.

there are a few stretches here, but it's still pretty cool how the creators of astroid placed in lots of references to 2001: A Space Odyssey.
