Kingdom of Vaegirs Guide
De Brm
The Kingdom of Vaegirs. An all around good faction that is always at odds with the Nords and the Khergits. With the best foot archers, cavarly that has high maneuverability, and good attacking power in terms of two handed weapons, the Vaegirs are a faction to be feared. Located in the northern areas of Calradia, the Vaegirs save up their strength. However, the Vaegirs are at a disadvantage with thier Cavalry and Infantry, giving this faction a difficult one to play. In this guide, I am going to be using a lot of my own personal in game experience as the Vaegirs and will explain the faction overall from my point of view.

Kingdom of Vaegirs Introduction

The Kingdom of Vaegirs. Part of the many factions that I have not tried until now, the Vaegirs have an alright start. I decided to start out as the son of a merchant to kind of change things up in my personal playthrough, which I will be using a lot of my own experience for this guide. In all honesty, the start for the Vaegirs is alright. There are a lot of Tundra Bandits around, which are not all that bad, but can be irritating at the begining of the game. Then towards Rivacheg there are a lot of Sea Raiders, in which I will be talking about later on.

I was going to stay with the merchant type build, however, I decided to change it up and that will be explained later on in the guide why that is.

From my other personal experiences playing as other factions, the Vaegirs are always at war with the Nords and Khergits. Sometimes they will declare war on the Sarranids, Swadia or Rhodoks. The Vaegirs are always strange with their war targets, such as the Sarranids, which makes zero sense because both factions are far way from each other.

Other than having an alright start, the Vaegirs have potential to be a very good faction, if a right army style is used.
Farming the Bandits

Every army sucks in the begining, especially mine at the very beginng of this faction/guide/personal in game experience. So far, it has been in fact easier for this guide, than my Sarranid Sultante Guide.

The Vaegirs and Nords have the luxary of being next to two types of very powerful and rewarding bandits, Sea Raiders and Tundra Bandits. Yes in the beginngi it is going to suck because you are going to have to fight them all the time, however, once when your army is where it should be, you and your army should be fine.

During my campaign so far, I have made so much more money in the beginning stages of the game than I ever had in previous ones. Yes, I was making a lot of money for my other campaigns, but this time I was making more.

I also found out that with a lot of this money, I was able to hire Mercenaries. Yes, they are not cheap at all, however, when you want to train up an army of elite Vaegirs, I decided to buy some of them. I put them in the very front of my army, so that if they die, at least it was a Mercenary. It is a very bad way to think about it, but I am talking about a game and not actual life itself.
The Vassal

Finally the time has come. I was finally able to become a vassal of the Vaegirs. I became a vassal only after I took part in the Siege of Curaw (SORRY I DID NOT TAKE PICS OF IT BECAUSE I WAS NOT SURE IF I WAS ABLE TO WIN AND AT THE LAST SECOND WE WON THE SEIGE BATTLE SORRY)

I found it very difficult to become a vassal for the Vaegirs. For one, I was starting out as a merchant, so right in the beginning, I was not fit to become a vassal. Two, I was making a lot of money, yet I was spending a lot on mercenaries to train up my Vaegir army. And three, it was just taking a long time to do anything. I find that when I become a mercenary for any faction that I want to join, it ends up taking a longer time. I did at one point resign from being a mercenary because I wanted to grab more money, do more quests, and not be tied down to fighting the Khergits or the Nords.

Now that I am a vassal, I cam do a lot more with my character. I am a lord, however, my army took a real beating from the Seige of Curaw. I lost 31 troops and had 11 wounded. I mostly lost my entire army because at this point in the game, my party size is 62 troops total. Even though I did not get any pics of the Seige itself, the Nords lost about 300 troops, compared to the 100 or so troops that the Vaegirs lost.
The First War and Recovery?!

So I hit a roadblock. I decided to help out fight the Khergits, the troll faction. I decided to raid a village that was way too far away and my Vaegir Army got crushed. I was the only one to make it out alive. Oh no what will I do?! Well, thankfully, I have a lot of money, especially from selling everything from the village. So I decided to hire mercenaries for awhile just to build up my army and they are doing really well, I have decided to make a mostly mercenary army, which has been very good for me in the long run. Yes, they are expensive, but when you have a lot of them at once, it is a good feeling to know that your army can actually do something. Not saying that regular troops are bad, its just a different experience. I am going to recruit more Vaegir troops as well. They are faster and cheaper to train than having to run around town after town to grab some mercernary soldiers.

Also, my character does look a little bit different in the top picture. That is because I did not want the merchant build anymore. In the beginning of the campaign it was good, however, I was not comfortable with just using a polearm and a crossbow for the entire game. And I was making a lot of money to buy some good armor, weapons and a better horse, which is always good.
First War Over

So the first war is finally over and I can relax. However, while I was trying to rebuild my army, the bandit parties got bigger, which is not always a bad thing, but it can be a good thing as well. Between the Sea Raiders and the Tundra Bandits, I have been training up my army, now with Vaegir Troops instead of Mercenaries. I am going to let the Mercenaries die out. I meanthey are only Mercenaries and I can replace troops anyways.

Also during the Recovery Period, I am going to try to see if I can invest in a small business to try to help out my income. I need more income if I am going to make more money during wars or peacetime. Extra income, on top of the number of fiefs you have as a vassal, is very good. More income means that I or you can invest in your army a lot more.

So finally I decided to invest in the weavery and dyeworks, the most profitable business in the game. It cost me 10,000 denars and will give me 560 or so a week. It really does pay for itself, even though now I don't really have much money left. I have still been farming all of the bandit parties of Sea Raiders and Tundra Bandits, training up my companions and my own character.

There is nothing else that I can really do at this point but to sit around and wait for another war to happen.I accomplished all that I wanted to do for this guide on the Vaegirs. It was a really good playing experience for me, because I have never played as this faction.
Questions?
Thank you guys for reading this guide on the Vaegirs. It has been really amazing to do guides for Mount and Blade Warband, probably the best decision that I have ever made. The Nords and Khergits Guides will be soon, so stay tuned for those. Also, I will be bringing back some Civ 5 Guides and possibly some Modded Civs very soon. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to post your own game experience, put it down below in the comments. I take the time to read all of them because I love all of you guys and your support as well.

Veageris is somehow worse then Surradin Sultanate
>Infantry
Laughs in Nord
Sieging Swadia or Spear bois is impossible just because they have no shields and get fckd all sides by crossbowman
Only good thing about this nation is Archers
Whos new to game never pick them Khergits too (worst nation because all they cav is trash at siege or killing armored units and pretty much all nations has armor units)

And as to answer your question, @15e NovaKing, you'll find experienced players wandering away from traditional faction choices (Swadia, Nords, Rhodoks) and more towards the underdog factions (Vaegirs, Khergits, Sarranids). I have tried a Khergit playthrough, and here's what I discovered.

1. Khergits are very good for the early game. Their recruit tier unit, the Khergit Tribesman, is the most capable recruit in the game - many of them have bows, some even have horses!

2. Khergits have incredibly quick armies. Since all but the lowest tier of their units are mounted, they can travere large distances crazy quick.

3. Khergits are scary in the field. Their top-tier unit, the Khergit Lancer, is a nightmare in cav vs cav matchups.

4. The Khergits aren't very good at sieging. Unless you have a lot of Lancers, which can get away with sieging due to their good armor and shields, you'll find yourself taking high losses.

Overall 8/10 faction if you know how to play with them.

I suggest anyone who plays as the Vaegirs throws down a dyeworks in Rivacheg first. It earns me about a thousand per week at maximum capacity, great investment.

I usually play as Khergits(the only faction with horse archers) or Rhodoks(the best crossbowmen), but Khergits are bad at siege and Rhodoks don't have cavalry at all. So, which faction I should choose?
