The Basics.
So, you want to be good at spy huh? Well first you need to learn the basics. First of all, you need to know about the following:
  • Disguising.
  • Being sneaky.
  • Having a get away from a bad situation.
Welp, lets dive into it!

Disguising.
If your gonna be a spy, you need to convince the enemy that you are friendly. Here is an example of what you shouldn't do; Try to get behind an enemy's back, and try to back-stab. You have to wait at the right moment to, but you won't if your acting suspicious. You should disguise as a medic behind players, and then try to go for the kill if you think you can. Or you can disguise as a spy, an be as unnoticed by the enemy as possible; They will think nothing of it when they least expect it, which will then be the chance to go for the kill. Tips: Bind the Quick/Last disguise option to a key of your liking, So you can keep the disguise you had last without changing to another, Because changing disguises can make you seem suspicious to enemies. (Secret: When disguised, you can use Last disguise to switch weapons, and to be very unnoticeable to enemies. How to do this? The weapon that you hold depends on what weapon you will look like your holding when disguised. Ex. Holding a sapper, and being disguised as a medic. When you press the Last disguise button, you will swap from your syringe gun to your medi-gun, from the enemies' perspective. It all depends on the weapons your holding if doing so, so make it count!)

Being sneaky.
If your not careful enough, you can find yourself in unexpected/unpleasant situations, like a pyro trying to spy-check everyone in it's sight. In order to be out of sight, you also need to be out of mind. In order to do so, you need to be out of any enemies' line of sight. Make sure it's okay to try to go for the kills, and to not be found. To do so, try to uncloak far away from an enemy (especially with The Dead Ringer.), and then make sure it's safe to get out of hiding, and to kill on the battlefield.

Having a get away from a bad situation.
So, lets say you DO get caught, and get chased after by an enemy. What do you do? Cloak. The enemy will have no idea where you are, and then keep a look out for you. This is not always the best thing to do, because then that enemy will go around spy-checking every nook and cranny to find you. My suggestion? Wait until they die, or give up trying to find you. However, If you having problems with this, then use The Dead Ringer. The enemy will think they caught you, but they haven't. There's only one problem; de-cloak as far away while cloak with The Dead Ringer from that enemy as far away as you can, because The Dead Ringer makes a LOUD de-cloak sound, so don't be near an enemy, but don't leave the battlefield. Once you've done that, then rinse with the other basics I have said to do, and then repeat.
The Advanced.
So, you've learned the basics. Now its time to dive deep into advanced things a spy needs to know. These are the things we will be learning in this section:
  • Trick-stabbing.
  • Accuracy with your revolver.
  • What loadouts to use.
  • What to keep a lookout for.
  • How to deal with certian enemies.
Welp, Lets go!

Trick-stabbing
Now, before I show you all the things about trick-stabbing, here is one essential you need to know: The side of the enemy is back-stabable. This can let you do all sorts of trick-stabs, like matador, stair, etc. If you want to see a full guide on it, then watch this video. (This video is not owned by me, It's owned by Nate Fox. Kudos to him for making this video.) It can help you out with what you need to learn and do in order to preform trick-stabs, and to be able to take advantages of situations with it.

Accuracy with your revolver.
If you want to be good with your firearm, then you need to know where to aim it, and to time your shots and shoot. In order to be good and do so, you need to crouch jump while you shoot, and stay on the move. You'll be hard to hit for a sniper if you get discovered by him, same with a medic or engineer. And you'll be able to kill them easily since you'll be hard to hit while you can hit them just fine. Accuracy = key to sum it all up. Know what is right for you at the perfect moment, and you decide to take the chance or not.

What load-outs to use.
Load-outs can be hard to think of and to also use. You should choose what can go well with you. My advice on this is to at least use The Diamondback and or a stock sapper.

What to keep a lookout for.
As a spy, you are very much vulnerable to your surroundings. This includes Pyros, Soldiers, Demomen, Scouts, Heavys...The list goes on. If you want to stay alert then always stay sneaky, look behind you every now and then, and don't be suspicious as possible.

How to deal with certain enemies.
A spy's weakness comes from if they know what enemies can affect the way they play, so one thing to keep account of is how playing against certain classes on the battlefield can affect you. For an example, a Pyro can easily counter a spy, unless they are well experienced an have an Ambassador or knows how to counter a Pyro. One of the easiest classes to counter is a medic, however if they are experienced they can easily kill you without a problem. The best thing to do is to study how a class plays, and quickly decide if it is the right or wrong choice to try to kill this class. If you kill a pocket medic, the heavy can be vulnerable. Take this into account the next time you face against a Pyro-heck, even any other class.

The End!
