Introduction
Hello everyone! I'm Red Ram! This is one of my first guides, and I'm very excited to bring you information on every boss and explain how to spare them!

Sparing Toriel
The first "boss" in the game. She is the loving mother-like creature that tries to protect you from the dangers of the Underground. She's smart, and will only let you go through the Underground if you prove yourself to her in a fight... However, fighting isn't necessary.

As soon as you get into the fight, she's going to throw some very rough attacks at you that are nearly impossible to dodge. You want to try dodging, but you're bound to get hit. That's a good thing, though.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T HEAL! Why? If your health gets low enough, Toriel won't be able to bring herself to hurting you, and her attacks will just be her tears (or something) flowing down the sides of the box.

At this point, just spam "Spare", and after she questions you, she'll allow you pass. It's kinda funny, because some people consider Toriel a tough boss, but compared to the other bosses, she's probably the easiest.

Now, here's the video.

Sparing Papyrus
Ah, everyone's favorite skeleton... He's a bit annoying to spare if you don't know what you're doing, but as soon as you figure it out, it'll easily become simple.

Papyrus, at first, throws some pretty weak attacks at you that are extremely easy to dodge. However, if you've been paying attention to what NPCs have been saying, you'll catch on that Papyrus has a "Blue" attack.

Papyrus is the first boss to introduce a new kind of heart. He can turn your Soul into a blue soul, which applies gravity to the fight. Papyrus's fight turns into a long grind unless you know what you're doing.

Quite simply, just let Papyrus kill you over and over. Well, he won't actually kill you. If you "die", you'll be thrown into a cell, which can easily be escaped due to Papyrus being unable to make cages or fences properly.

Just rinse and repeat until Papyrus decides to accept the fact that you're not giving up, and he lets you pass.

Sparing Undyne
Undyne, leader of the Royal Guard. She's a tough leader, and is hard to defeat. But underneath that helmet and armor, she's a really good person, who just wants to leave the Underground. She loves explosions and cooking, but until you get to meet her, you won't be able to tell.

Her fight is pretty straight forward- hold out as long as you can and don't die.

Like Papyrus, she introduces a new kind of soul. She introduces the Green Soul. When you're using this soul, you can't move, but you have a shield to defend yourself. Using your shield, you deflect oncoming arrows.

You'll eventually come across orange arrows, which will throw you off. These arrows will fly at you, but swing around to the opposite side the came from, meaning you have to completely turn around to hit them. When Undyne spams these, it can get frustrating.

She will occasionally put you back in your Red Soul form, where you must dodge attacks relating to spears.

You hold out until you notice that you can run from her. When given this opportunity, do it. You'll have to run through into Hotland. She will occasionally catch up, but you just have to keep running. Eventually, her armor will get too hot because of the heat of the Hotland, and she'll collapse. You can give her water to spare her, or leave her there to die.

Sparing Muffet
Muffet, a spider who owns a popular-ish spider bakery. She doesn't like to fight, but she will if her spiders are in danger. She can be deadly, and has a pet that has a thirst for human blood.

Muffet is one of the two bosses in the game that can instantly be spared if you have a certain item. If you bought something from the Spider Bakery in the Ruins, and you eat is as soon as the fight starts, Muffet will apologize and spare you.

NOTE: If you never bought anything from the bakery, you can't go back to the Ruins to do so. As soon as you get past Toriel, the door leading to the Ruins will forever be shut.

So, if you screwed up and never bought anything, then you need to just hold out as long as you can, because, eventually, Muffet will get a letter saying that you never killed a single spider, and she'll let you go.

As soon as the fight begins, she'll turn you into a Purple Soul. When you're the purple soul, lines will appear in the box, and you must dodge attacks by jumping from line to line, and moving back and forth.

Her attacks are similar to Undyne's- they start off simple, but the longer you're fighting, they get harder and harder.

She has three main attacks (besides her pet)- Spiders, Croissants, and Donuts.

-Spiders simply move across the lines, and you have to jump between lines to dodge them.

-Croissants look like boomerangs, and act like them too. They shoot across a single line, and fly back across once they reach the end.

-Donuts are probably the deadliest. They start at one end of the box, and shoot up at the top or bottom of the box, cross through the middle, and go to the other end. These are extremely hard to dodge, but it is possible once you catch onto it.

Her pet is also pretty dangerous... When she calls her pet, you'll have to jump up lines and dodge Spiders. It doesn't sound so bad, but it can get rough.

After you've held out for long enough, Muffet will apologize for attacking you, and will allow you to go.

Sparing Mettaton/Mettaton EX
Mettaton, the most popular robot in the Underground! He has a few loyal viewers, and is cunning, smart, and manipulative. You have several encounters with him, and each time you do, he has a new unique way to try to kill you and get the last human soul needed.

As soon as you get into the battle, you'll become a Yellow Soul. By this point, you should've seen this before. When you're a Yellow Soul, you have the ability to shoot.

Mettaton's first move is throwing a bunch of blocks at you that you have to shoot to make it past. It's a very easy attack to dodge. The next attack will have you shooting blocks and dodging long arms with fists. Once again, this attack is pretty easy to dodge.

The last attack from Mettaton in his "Non-EX" state has you shooting blocks inside of arms, which are heading right at you. You must shoot the blocks in the arms so they retract and you can survive.

After this last attack, you'll get a call from Alphys. She tells you that there's a switch on the back of Mettaton, and it's the only way to defeat him. After you flick the switch, the magic begins.

Mettaton EX is basically a much more powerful version of Mettaton. This part of the fight is much more complex than the first part. Now, there are ratings that you have to keep an eye on.

To spare Mettaton, you must get the ratings to at least 10,000.

These are your act options, and they're important.

-Pose: Adds 100-150 to the ratings.
-Boast: Ratings gradually go up during Mettaton's turn unless you get hit, which decreases the ratings by 100.
-Heel Turn: Everytime you get hit during the next turn, the ratings go up.

Items:

Anytime you eat something that you bought from the Hotel, ratings spike up. Also, you can use the Stick to gain additional ratings. However, unlike the food, this can only be done once.

Mettaton EX will just spam attacks at you as you go. Every few attacks, he shows his heart. You can shoot his heart to make the turn go faster, and to destroy his limbs. Destroying his limbs will lead to different text and slightly different attacks. Removing his limbs also raises the ratings.

His attacks are all pretty simple and easy to catch onto to. Just keep doing various things until the ratings are at 10,000. Then, you can spare him.

Sparing Asgore
Asgore, King of the Underground. He has a hatred towards humans and demanded that every child that falls into the Underground must die. He's a very tough foe, and will not go down without a fight...

Literally...

Asgore can't be spared. In fact, the first thing he does before the fight begins is, he destroys the "Mercy" tab all together, forcing you to fight him.

Asgore only has a few moves... One of them is when he fades to black, and you see his eyes flash blue and orange. This shows the order in which he is going to hit you, and it tells you whether you need to move, or stand still. It won't take long to learn this, as he uses it a lot.

Another move of his is when he spews bullets at you. They will be going down the center, and, every few seconds, you'll see an exclamation point on one side, and bullets will fly down that side. This move is all about dodging and staying in the middle.

One of his other attacks is very similar to Toriel's- he has giant hands go up, down, or across the box with a trail of fireballs, which chase after you. This attack is very easy to dodge once you realize the simple way to dodge. If it's going across, you move across. If it's going up or down, do the opposite.

This next move greatly becomes more difficult as the fight carries on. It's an attack where fire balls surround you and get closer. There's one small gap that you can get through to go onto the next circle of fire. Over time, the circles will begin to rotate as they come towards you, and will get much faster.

His last attack is when fire balls shoot over the whole screen, and to avoid them, you must precisely move around them, one by one. This is the one attack that people seem to have the most trouble with.

You want to just attack whenever you get the chance. He'll eventually get too weak to keep fighting.

Sparing Flowey/Omega Flowey
The first creature you meet in the Underground... The one who wants you dead... The one that could be behind this all?

If this is your first time playing through Undertale, you're going to have to fight Flowey. Shortly after the Asgore fight, you'll encounter Flowey. You'll engage into a fight with him, only to be surprised to see what you're actually up against...

There's not really much to say about this fight except dodge the attacks as much as you can. That's basically the only thing you can do while waiting for the right moment to strike.

Flowey has a few attacks that are tough to dodge, but it's not that bad. The first attack you'll see is his shuriken attack. He spews shurikens across the screen. Just move around each shuriken, and you should be fine.

Another attack is when he creates circles of pellets around you, and shoots them towards you. When all of the pellets hit each other, they shoot back out in the directions they came. This attack is easy to dodge if you move fast enough.

His most infamous attack is when he tracks you with lasers and hits you with his tentacles. This move will be abused with his ability to save and load the game.

He also have flamethrowers that shoot fire from the sides. These flames are easy to dodge once you realize their simple patterns.

Yet another attack is when he has tentacle-things with faces that jump around the screen. Their movement is predictable, but hard to dodge.

Watch out for the Flowey Nukes. Sometimes, Flowey Nukes will drop from the top of the screen and and explode when they hit the bottom. These are easier to dodge compared to the other attacks.

Flowey also has an attack where lasers will appear over where you are, and, what looks like bacon strips with Flowey's head on them, will shoot across the screen over the lasers. This is one of those attacks that is pretty hard to dodge.

His finale attack is a Venus Fly Trap. This is when a Venus Fly Trap will sit on side of the screen and flies fly into it from the other side.

Every few seconds, the "Fight" tab will appear. When you see it, run at it to deal a little bit of damage to Flowey. Whenever you hit it, it allows you to find another soul.

Whenever a soul appears, you must dodge objects in a certain way. You must keep dodging until the "Act" tab appears. When you hit it, you must keep dodging for a few more seconds before every object becomes some form of health.

Eventually, the souls will come out and together, you defeat Flowey. After the fight, you're given the option to kill or spare him. If you try to spare him, he'll go against it, but eventually, it'll work.

Sparing Asriel
Your best friend, and your worst nightmare.

This fight is really, really easy once you understand the basics...

Don't worry! You can't die during this fight!

The whole fight is propelled by your Act Tab.

-Hope: Reduces the amount of damage you take during Asriel's current turn.

-Dream: The first thing you need to do to really begin the fight. Your pockets will fill up with dreams each time you do, and it keeps the fight going.

Attacks:

He has a few attacks similar to Asgore's. For example, he has an attack where fire balls come shooting down the middle, just it's a little more aggressive than Asgore's attack that does the same thing.

Another attack of his is when he disappears, and giant stars come raining down that break into smaller stars. This attack is easy to dodge, so you shouldn't have to worry about it too much.

Asriel has an attack where the bottom of the box will become filled the "! boxes" and lightning will shoot down to them. This attack can be tricky, as he spams it.

One of his attacks is when he draws two blades, and will try to hit you in the box. When he moves to the left, you want to move to the left. When he moves to the right, you want to move to the right.

He's got a cannon-gun-thingie called the "Chaos Buster" that shoots bullets. It's laser sighted, and you can easily dodge the bullets if you stay in between the lasers. After the bullets, he shoots a giant "Rainbow Beam" that's very easy to dodge.

After you've been fighting for some time, Asriel will show you his true powers, and the fight goes onto its second phase. During this phase, there's not much you can do.

He's got one new attack now. It's where he sticks his arms up, and rainbow things wrap around the sides and charge at you. This attack is pretty tough to dodge, but remember, you can't die in this fight.

After you struggle through a few turns, the 'Act' tab will become the 'Save' tab, and, one by one, you must save your friends.

When trying to save your friends, you'll be going against attacks based on whoever you're trying to save. You must use your 'Act' tab to do certain things to trigger their memories, so they can be saved. You basically need to just try every button in the 'Act' tab till they're saved.

This fight is actually pretty sad. It's Asriel's attempt to start everything over, but you must stop it.
Conclusion
Well, that's it for my guide. Tell me how I did, and don't be afraid to point out any grammar errors or false information!

With that, I thank you for checking out my guide. Have a great day.
