Independent Finland

This mod separates Finland from Sweden and makes it possible to start a new game as Finland.

- NOT ironman compatible!

In the beginning of the game (Year 1444) Finland is still in a union under Denmark just like Sweden and Norway are. You must first break free from Denmark in order to become completely independent. (More info in the FAQ)

Changes to original game files:
- All the necessary modifications to make Finland a fully functional nation at any given starting date.
- A completely new province: Petsamo/Pechenga, also known as Finland's other arm, which Finland owned from 1920 to 1944. In the beginning of the game it's controlled by Novgorod.
- Two new Finland specific missions that encourage you to conquer areas that modern Finland holds or has held in the past.
- More Finnish dynamic province names such as Pohjanmaa, Savo, Häme etc.
- Adjustments to some of southern Finland's borders to make them more realistic.

FAQ:
- Question: Why is Finland in a union under Denmark and not Sweden like it should?
- Answer: Yes, historically Finland was a part of Sweden from the 1300s to 1809. But in the beginning of the game Sweden is in a union under Denmark (Kalmar Union) and it's currently not possible to have a union under another union. That's why I had to put Finland under Danish control in the year 1444.

Now, if you choose a starting date where Kalmar Union doesn't exist anymore (Year 1492 for example) Finland will be in a union under Sweden like it should.

Change log:

- Switched the owner of Petsamo from Finland to Novgorod in the beginning of the game. That is because historically Finland acquired Petsamo in 1920 from Russia.
- Switched Petsamo's religion to Orthodox, culture to Sami, trade goods to fur and area from Bothnia to Karelia.

- Added several historically accurate Finnish dynamic province names (No more random Swedish province names mixed with Finnish ones).
- Added two new Finland specific missions called "Secure access to the Barents Sea!" and "Establish a buffer zone!"
- Finland no longer owns the provinces of Kexholm/Priozersk and Karelia in the beginning of the game because that's historically more accurate. You now have to work to conquer those areas.
