decoys certinally help, just buy 6 mallard decoys (prefferably when they are on sale) and you will find many more ducks will break, but they will still not break every time, you'll just need patience. As for time of day, it really doesn't matter. But one further suggestion, there is some good places to set up a duck blind close to the lodge so you dont have to use a tent or run for 5 mins. I've placed my setup around 200m North East of the lodge since I was dicouraged from duck hunting because I had to run out to my setup.

i don't have any decoys do i need them?

i got the duck blind the camo and the mallard long range call. when i use the call they just keep flying right on over me not braking from the flock lol

its close enough that it cn be spotted without using binoculars
