Things You Need
General
  • Something to simulate holding down a button, or hold the button yourself. (ex: Macro keyboards/mouse, tape, rubber band)
  • Set your ATB Mode to Wait if you're using an MP combo for safety (if you run out of MP, they just sit there and not die from mobs). You can set this to Active if you're using a No MP combo.
  • Set your Cursor to Memory

Minimum
You must at least have this as your starter.
  • White Mage Dressphere - obtained as early as Chapter 1 in Besaid's story quest.

All-Purpose
These will help you level almost all Dresspheres in the game.
  • Alchemist Dressphere and Highroad Winds Garment Grid - can be obtained at Chapter 2 by unlocking Chocobo Breeding with Clasko
  • Healing Wind - can be obtained at Chapter 1 by finishing "Behind the Scenes" mission in Luca
  • Heart Reborn - can be obtained at Chapter 1 by choosing "Is that you Isaaru?" in your mission at Zanarkand

Suggested Location for Training
  • Macalania Woods - I like Deep Haize in Macalania Woods since they cast Distortion Wave, which removes any buffs on your guys, giving you an option to recast all the buffs removed for easy AP. Plus, distortion wave hits all your characters so you're sure that your heals will give AP. If you feel like Deep Haize is hitting you too slow, feel free to haste him.
  • Chateau Leblanc - Enemies comes in groups of more than 3, and they're fairly weak. Good for 2 Healer 1 Alchemist setup.
No MP Combos
These combos doesn't require MP, so you could just leave them for like 10+ minutes with x4 turned on and get back to killing the mob once you think they've reached the 99 AP cap.

MP Combos
You can use this if you have a large MP pool. Example would be, if you have a Healer with 360 MP, that means, you can cast 90 Cures before you run out of MP, leaving you with roughly 90 AP.

AP Equipments
Here are some items that can help you increase your AP gain:
  • Key to Success - This accessory has certain conditions tied to it, which will be confusing to list here. Try looking into some guides online on how to get this (heavily related to Moonflow sidequest in Chapter 1). Doubles AP gain.
  • AP Egg - Acquired as a Blitzball prize. Triples AP gain.
  • Gold Hairpin - Acquired as a Blitzball prize. Succeed in making Leblanc feel good in Chapter 2. Halves MP cost.
  • Ragnarok - Acquired by making Rikku a suspect in Chapter 5 Mi'ihen quest (events spanning from earlier chapters). Reduces MP cost to zero.

These equipments will help your training time by a lot. With AP Egg + Key to Success, you will get 6 AP per move. You'll take less than 5 minutes to get 99 AP cap in 1 fight with x4 on. Gold Hairpin and Ragnarok gives you more room for your MP.

Thanks to Google, wiki pages and random FF forums for giving me ideas to make this guide possible.

Please feel free to add some more of your combos for AP farming. Note that I am still new to the game and I'm going to update this whenever I discover some more tricks in-game. Thank you for reading this guide!

Great guide, I never really played FFX-2 properly but decided to give it a go and most guides are so late game. Definitely gonna try this :)
