Sol Unleashed

Description
(Compatible with Stellaris v 1.9.1)

NOTE: THIS MOD HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED SINCE 1.9.1, AND IS VERY UNLIKELY TO WORK WITH THE LATEST VERSION OF THE GAME.
I am unable to update the mod myself, but if anyone else wants to do so, please go ahead. I'll be happy to link any new version from this page.

It's Back: Let's conquer a real galaxy again!

Sol Unleashed is intended for people who like to play as humans starting from the Sol system, and want to see lots of familiar star systems surrounding Sol. The current version of the mod only works if you start at the Sol system.

Following update 1.7 or 1.8 last year, this mod stopped working, and I have been struggling to find time to fix it. I have finally managed to fix it, but in the process I had to rebuild the mod from the ground up, omitting some of the features it used to have, and returning to its core: the mod is for people who want to start on Sol and play in a galaxy with familiar star systems in the neighborhood.

How To Use
- Select the race you want to play with (usually a human race, since you'll be starting on Sol).
- Edit the race: select Homeworld, Name & Class
- Select the Starting Solar System called 'Sol Unleashed', and you're good to go.

Features

An expanded Sol System
All eight planets of the solar system plus Pluto and Eris.
Mars moons Phobos and Deimos added.
Saturn moons Tethys, Dione, Rhea and Iapetus added.
Uranus moons Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberon added.
Pluto moon Charon added.

(Want something else added to the solar system? Put in a request in the comments.)

Real Star Names
Sol will be surrounded by around 600 real stars from the Milky Way galaxy.
Stars are positioned in their correct order of increasing distance from Sol.
Stars have the correct class (within the constraints of vanilla star classes).
Stars have relatively the correct diameters.
Detailed design of 22 systems near to Sol, including binary and trinary systems (thanks to Lex Peregrine for the ideas and designs for many of these systems).

(Want your favourite star system added to the galaxy? Put in a request in the comments!)

Expanded Galaxy Size Options
Galaxy size options of 800, 1000, 1250, 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 star systems.

The minimum number of star systems is 800, because the game will likely crash if you try to play with fewer than 800 star systems. For those who prefer smaller galaxies, check out the sister mod, 'Sol Unleashed - Lite', which is available here:

************************************

If anyone finds any bugs; has any suggestions for changes/improvements; or wants to see particular star systems in the mod, please let me know.

Compatibility:

It goes without saying that this mod is incompatible with its sister mod, Sol Unleashed - Lite, so you must pick one or the other.

This mod changes the galaxy size start up options, so it will likely be incompatible with mods that change these, such as Galaxies Unlimited. The mod supports galaxy sizes up to 2000 systems. I could add further sizes, if there's a demand.

The mod specifically changes the following file and may be incompatible with other mods that also change these files:

00_random_names.txt

There is a small change to station orbit distance in a 'defines' file which might cause incompatibility with mods that change the system scale. If you find incompatibilities that you would like me to try to fix, let me know and I will take a look.

If you find incompatibilities that you would like me to try to fix, let me know and I will take a look.

Terms of use in other mods:

You may use this mod in other mods provided you credit me. I would also be grateful if you would tell me that you're using my mod, in the comments below.

Credits:
Lex Peregrine for some features in the design of the systems: Barnard's Star, Sirius, Epsilon Eridani, Procyon and especially Alpha Centauri and Epsilon Indi.
Robert Hurt for the galaxy pic.

Ok

It's very unlikely. I'm not able to work on the mod myself, but others are free to do so. I have amended the description to reflect this situation.

Ah, I remember playing your mod for Distant Worlds!

Ah, well thanks for the reply anyway. Cheers.

@Doctor Verum, no, I was never able to find a way to do that, unfortunately. Note also that I haven't been supporting this mod for a while, so I don't know whether it still works.

Does this mod affect spawning location in the galaxy? Eg. where the Sol system will spawn in relation to the core and such?

how about TRAPPIST-1?

I'd like to have just the closest stars, without editing the Solar System or messing with hundreds of stars (i.e., I'm happy just with Tau Ceti, Epsilon Eridani, Epsilon Indi, Luhman Wolf 359, Van Maanen). Is a super-lite version possible in the future?
