How to beat True Pacifist

This is a guide that explains what tasks are required to get the True Pacifist Ending. This also includes how to beat the boss battles too. Don't read ahead as it would spoil it for you. If you have any tips for people doing pacifist, I will add it to the Tips from Commentors section unless someone already mentioned it.

NEUTRAL FIRST

If you have not fully completed the Neutral Route, then the True Pacifist ending is impossible. If you have completed that route, continue on. If not, then do it first!

Absolutely No Killing

This is a rule that applies to the entire gameplay, do not kill at all, find a way to spare monsters any time you are in a battle. By the end of the game, you should be Level 1 with MAX 20 HP. If higher then you must have killed some monsters. Also, the only way you can extend your HP higher than 20 is by the hotel in Snowdin. Talk to the girl, and she will offer you a room. Once you are up there, you will see a cutscene of the bunnies snoring loudly, and you will leave because it's too noisy. Your HP will increase by 10(30/20 HP), and you can take 10 damage before your actual health bar decreases. This can be done multiple times to increase by 10 every time.

Napstablook

This battle is very simple. And you should get it right away. Go to ACT and cheer him on a few times, he will show you a trick and then he will tell you he is happy someone was nice to him for once. He should then disappear.

Toriel

This one won't take a lot of work. At first her attacks hurt you but if you continue choosing MERCY and spare then she will start to feel bad about attacking you.

Greater Dog

This battle is very easy. First, go to ACT and beckon him, after that you will be able to pet him and he will get excited. Pet and play with him until he starts to like you and he will walk away. You can skip this battle by throwing stick to it if you don't want to do it the normal way.

Papyrus

Battle

This battle is very easy. You can use ACT options or MERCY but you will only make it past him by repeatedly being beaten. He will "capture" you, by putting you in his garage. After you escape about 3 or 4 times there is the option to stop fighting him and be his friend.

Also, if you keep the battle going and survive long enough, you can also end the battle that way.

Date

You'll also have to go on a "date" with him. To do this, find him by his house waiting for you, and trigger the date. It's pretty easy, so I won't really have to explain this part. Once you complete it Papyrus is then your friend for the rest of the game.

Dummy

After Undyne separates the bridge that was holding you up, you'll fall into the dump. You'll notice the dummy before you leave and as you get to the end, it will come to life. After it talks about what you did, you'll be in battle. If you go to ACT and check, you'll see that it is a ghost and couldn't be harmed even if you were trying to do that. His dummys' bullets will go past your soul and off the bullet board, you can use this to strategically aim the bullets at the dummy. After a bit he will fire the old bullets and hire new more powerful ones. The new rocket ones will follow you around more, but you should be able to aim them at the dummy. He will eventually stop using bullets at all and throw his knife at you, which is pretty easy to dodge, and will then say you'll battle him forever because he wants to win. If you followed the instructions with Napstablook, and befriended him, he will cry onto the dummy and make him go away. He will then think that you both were hanging out and go away because he feels guilty.

Undyne

Battle

This battle might kill you a lot, like it did me, but it's possible to end the battle peacefully. Keep going to MERCY and hitting spare or use ACT options until your soul is red, meaning you can flee, and when you do you'll be able to run away from her. This battle is a matter of patience and focus. After you flee a few times, you will get into hotland and she will be overheated in her armor.

When she falls from overheating, you will be able to spot a water cooler near. Grab a cup of water and dump it on her, if you do this, she'll look around then walk away.

Cooking Lesson

After you do that, Papyrus should be at her house in Waterfall(near Napstablook's house) waiting for you. Interact with Papyrus to trigger the "cooking lesson". He will jump out the window and it will just be you and her. She will start insulting you until Papyrus comes back and says she isn't up to the challenge of being your friend. Then she will start trying her best to treat you as a houseguest. When she asks you what you want to drink, the only actual option is the tea, but if you want to you can read the descriptions of the other options. After drinking the tea she realizes Papyrus left even though she was supposed to give him a cooking lesson, meaning you have to do it with her now. After fiercely smashing vegetables and shoving spaghetti into a pan and doing all of that, her house will be burning down, and she will challenge you to a battle again. She will give you the first hit, and so MERCY won't work here. Go to ACT, and fake hit her to cause only one damage, where she will talk about how you remind her of Asgore. From this point on, she will be at Papyrus and Sans's house.

Mettaton

This will be triggered in Alphys's lab, and you will introduced to Mettaton, the TV star robot, and he will quiz you. Keep in mind you can get them wrong, but try to get as many as you can right to take the least damage. Look at Alphys to the right of Mettaton to watch her letter-shaped hand gestures that give away the answer. Once he gets to a question about an anime, Alphys will babble on about it and Mettaton will ask you who she has a crush on. The correct answer is Undyne, who Alphys is pretty much in love with. Although all answers to the question will be correct and so it doesn't matter much if you get it correct or not. The quiz show should end soon after that and Alphys will talk to you.

Muffet

Normal Way

I would personally recommend buying health items before walking into the purple room with spider webs everywhere. You will hear whispers talking about how humans despise spiders and harm them. Then, halfway through the room, you'll meet Muffet. You will notice her first attack is covering your soul in a purple liquid which then makes your soul purple and sets it on the second of three bars. Your actions won't matter much, as you have to wait until a certain point in the battle. You have the option to pay her, and it will weaken her next attack, but other than that you can only wait. After a while she will say it's time for dessert, and soon after a spider will bring her a telegram saying that you aren't the human Muffet was after. She will then let you spare her and the battle will end.

Donut Skip

Having a hard time fighting Muffet? Or you just want to skip it? Buy a spider donut before you enter the room, and use it at the start of the fight to trigger the text where Muffet says you're a thief. She will get the telegram then at the start of the fight instead of the end.

Mettaton Ex

Once you encounter him, Alphys will call you and tell you to flip his switch. This will trigger the transformation into Mettaton Ex. To beat him you have to continue posing and other stuff until he gets 10,000 ratings. Pose will give you more points when your health is lower, using boast will raise the ratings during his turn, and heel turn will raise ratings if you get hurt by Mettaton. I would recommend buying food from MTT resort before doing this battle, as it will raise both your health and a lot of ratings. Also, when he makes you type an essay, you can simply say, "LEGS", and it will get you a lot of ratings. After he gets 10,000, and he loses both his arms and legs, he will then get some calls and soon after his batteries will wear out. After that, Alphys should come and fix him, where you can then leave.

Alphys and Undyne

After you have defeated Mettaton Ex, you should backtrack to the bridge connecting MTT Resort and the CORE. Undyne will call you, asking you to deliver a letter to Alphys for her. Go to Snowdin and find her at Papyrus's house, and you'll receive the letter(keep in mind that Undyne won't call you if you haven't done the Papyrus date and Undyne cooking lesson first). You should then go back to Hotland and put it under her lab door. She will think you were the one who wrote it, and that will trigger the "date". You both will go to the dump, and start talking about things awkwardly when Undyne comes. You can tell Undyne that she is nearby if you want to and she will go looking for her. Alphys will start roleplaying, with you playing Undyne. As she starts confessing her love rather loudly, Undyne will come and ask her what she meant by what she said. This will go on and on until Undyne assigns Papyrus to start training Alphys. To conclude the date, Undyne will ask you if anime is real, and it will end.

True Lab

After the previous step of completing the date, you should be alone at the garbage dump. As you exit, Papyrus will call, telling you to go the Alphys's lab. You'll find a note near her "bathroom", and after reading that you should enter the supposed bathroom to find the True Lab. To unlock the power room door, you have to find the four keys scattered throughout the true lab and put them in the slots around the lab. Also, when you encounter Endogeny at this part you can end the fight easily with a stick or hushpuppy.

Red Key

Turn left at the first room after the elevator with the chip machine and power room door. Turn on all of the faucets, and the third one will leak an amalgamate instead of water. The amalgamate will ignore you after attacking you a few times, and you can spare. Take the red key from the sink and put it into the slot.

Yellow Key

The red key will activate the door to the right of the first room, and you will enter the bedroom. One of the beds at the right end look like they have something under the sheets, and after pulling down the sheets, you'll find the yellow key. To the northern path of the bedroom, head left, and at the room with the weird looking machine, go to the northern door. This room contains a bunch of video tapes with only audio to read and the yellow slot.

Green Key

At the bedroom, go north and to the left until you come across a passage. You will find a creature shaking in a shower, and as you walk closer, it shakes faster. Upon opening it, it will be revealed it was nothing, and you will find the green key. Exit and head right to the foggy room lined with fans, and activate the switch at the right end of the room to clear the fog and reveal the amalgamate Endogeny. Go to ACT and beckon first, then pet it next. Play with it after that to get it excited. Pet twice more and it will be satisfied and let you spare it. Go back to the left to the room with the large oddly shaped machine. Interact with the "save point", and you will encounter Lemon Bread. Go to ACT, and use the actions unhug, hum, and flex in any order to spare it. Go to the left to find a room with fridges. Interact with the one on the far left, and when you walk away, it will become an amalgamate. Go to ACT and joke a few times to spare her. She will drop the blue key. Go through the passage to the left to find the green slot.

Blue Key

Head through the right passage at bedroom to come across a room with mirrors and golden flowers. Head right, and as you pass by the mirrors, an amalgamate will appear called ",". Go to ACT, and use the actions pray, mystify, and pick on in any order to spare it. Head through the passage to the right to find the blue slot.

After that, go into the power room and turn on the generator to trigger the conversation with Alphys. She will talk about her past and how she made several bad mistakes but now she will be honest about it and free the amalgamates. Go back to the elevator in the generator room to be warped to New Home. The elevator will be vined off, so you can't go back.

Finding the Final Boss

After completing the true lab, and being trapped at new home. You will continue on into the judgement hall. You will meet Sans here, and he will judge you on what you have done. If you had only mercy and did not attack anyone, he will tell you that you aren't completely innocent or naive, but you found it in your heart to spare them all. You refused to fight and you have not killed any monsters up to now. Keep in mind he may not always be there, although he usuallly is. If he isn't, just move forward. You will also find Asgore's house, and find a few items there. One, the dagger, two, the heart locket. You will also find two keys to unlock the gate to downstairs. And you will leave. Through this, the monsters told you the story of Asriel and the human boy that fell down like you. And now you should know who exactly Asriel is. At the throne room, you will talk to Asgore, and you will both meet at the barrier. He will then get into attack mode, and just when he is about to attack, Toriel should stop him. Then the rest of your monster friends start coming in and some of the characters meet each other for the first time. Papyrus will state that he knew to bring everyone there because a tiny flower told him to.

Flowey will then come into view and talk about how he tricked you. Soon he will attack your soul, and when you are about to die, Toriel will protect you from it with flame magic. Then he will keep trying to kill you, but your friends will block it and all of the monsters you have spared will surround the edge of the screen cheering you on. Then, Flowey drops the scared act, and he states that he will take all of their souls. This will trigger the battle.

Asriel Dreemurr

You will see Asriel as a child first, and he will greet you. But then you meet his other form with an older Asriel and the battle starts. Go to ACT and use hope to decrease damage, and dream to fill your inventory with dreams that will heal you. Keep hoping and dreaming until he transforms into his other form. You will be trapped with only the ability to ACT. Go ahead and use your only option, struggle, and your soul will rip apart, and come back together so that you can't die once. You will see that you can't reach your SAVE file, but then you will realize that you can save your friends instead.

For each one, use the action that reminds them who they are. For example, it should be preference for Toriel, recipe for Papyrus, and fake hit for Undyne. This will save them, and after saving them all, there is one last soul to save. You will repeatedly have to use SAVE, which used to be ACT, on Asriel and he will find that no matter what you won't die. This is when you finally save him.

You will meet young Asriel again, and he will apologize. If you choose to forgive him, he will still feel very regretful and sad for what he did. You can then chose to comfort him, and you'll hug him. He will use all of their souls to break the barrier, and turn back into Flowey. If you have completed all this, and the barrier is now broken, pat yourself on the back because you just saved them all.

You did it!!!

And that's it, you saved them all. You can go back to Snowdin, Hotland, and Waterfall to see how things have changed. Then, you and the others will exit the underground and you'll see the surface. You have the decision to be their ambassador, and to live with Toriel or go elsewhere.

Ruins

Froggit - ACT>Flirt or threaten, spare.

Whimsum - This enemy can immediately be spared or you can ACT>Console to spare them.

Moldsmal - ACT>Flirt or Imitate, spare.

Loox - ACT>Don't pick on, spare.

Vegetoid - ACT>Dinner, run into at least one green vegetable, spare.

Migosp - Spare all other monsters first to make Migosp happy, then spare Migosp.

Snowdin

Doggo - Wait for him to attack you once, and don't move at all. ACT>Pet, spare.

Lesser Dog - ACT>Pet, spare.

Dogamy & Dogaressa - ACT>Roll around, Re-sniff, Pet each dog once, spare.

Snowdrake - Give snowdrake a chance to tell you a joke with ACT>Check, then ACT>Laugh, and spare.

Icecap - ACT>Ignore twice, spare.

Jerry - Spare other monsters first if there are any, ACT>Ditch.

Gyftrot - ACT>Undecorate three times, spare.

Waterfall

Woshua - ACT>Clean, collect at least one green drop, spare.

Aaron - ACT>Flex three times and he will disappear.

Shyren - ACT>Hum, spare.

Moldbygg - Moldbyggs try to blend in with moldsmals, they will look like a moldsmal but you can tell it apart because it won't wiggle. ACT>Imitate or ACT>Flirt to make it transform, ACT>Unhug, spare.

Temmie - ACT>Talk, spare.

Hotland

Vulkin - ACT>Encourage or Hug(hugging will lower your defense), spare.

Tsunderplane - ACT>Approach, run into at least three green barriers around the planes, spare.

Pyrope - ACT>Heat up twice, spare.

Royal Guards - ACT>Clean RG 02, run into the green armor piece at least five times to get him to take off his armor, ACT>Whisper to RG 01, spare.

The Core

Madjick - ACT>Stare at Chaser Orb and Corner Orb in any order or ACT>Talk, spare.

Knight Knight - ACT>Sing until she falls asleep, spare.

Whimsalot - ACT>Pray, run into at least one green butterfly, spare.

Final Froggit - ACT>Mystify, spare.

Astigmatism - Astigmatism will either say "Pick on me" or "Don't pick on me", ACT and do whichever one it said. (Challenging Astigmatism will make all other enemies spareable)
