I've made it my goal to recreate all the original test chambers from Portal. I realize they won't all be exactly alike, but I will try to get as close as I can to feel, looks, and how it plays. Feedback is indescribably helpful, and will also (hopefully) be encouraging and make me keep working, so lemme have it. Enjoy!

Everyone insisted that you start IN the Relaxation Vault instead of starting where you exit the portal from the Relaxation Vault. So, I changed it up. Let me know what you think. Like it better this way, or do you like it in the simpler form?

Put angled panels instead of cornering the room.
Using BEEMOD, I inserted autoportals and logic triggers for the lift, and a door.
Used the new option to remove connection lines.

My only issue is the lack of toilet and radio in the Relaxation Vault. :squirtheh:

I got stuck on the piston platform. If you just barely are standing on the edge of the platform, you will clip the ceiling, stopping the platform while the piston continues up. If you back up off the platform, the platform will join the piston at the top of the shaft, and you will be trapped below.

I follow you on that, but when I made these they weren't done to death. I realeased these the week of the PETI, and it was the first collection with them out. I kept track and take pride in that fact. I tried to do it first, and the best, so that we'd have less poorly made clones. Egotistic, I know.

If new stuff is what you want, you're in the right place. I freaking love this community. All the top rated collections aside from this one are all new concepts, usually executed with far more attention to detail and intracacies. Especially the hammer maps - most are gold

You are certainly welcome to do what you want, and if you have fun doing so, more power to you, for sure. I appreciate the attention to detail with regard to distances, appearances, etc. But I wouldn't say, "Someone was going to do it," because many test designers already have! So Portal chambers are unoriginal not only because the first game had them, but also because they are done to death in Portal 2.
I understand that many players love to play these for the uniqueness of individuality, the nostalgia, the challenge of retrying them, etc.; but as for me, I look forward to seeing new tests and challenges in Portal 2.

Someone was going to do it. Someone was eventually going to get around to remaking them. I figured I'd do it and make sure they were done right. I actually got into the original maps and measured them, did a whole bunch of comparisons with both the physics distances and the physical distances, etc. Without something else like hammer editor, these are about as close as you can get. I essentially provided myself my own quality assurance. Plus, it was super fun.

I've played test chambers that completely lack a portal gun, so I'm pretty sure that would be possible to attain here. But the real issue for me is, the original Portal was great as was; so why reinvent the wheel, what with all the rich, expanded possibilities Portal 2 has to offer?

Personally, I am not a fan of the Portal chamber remakes. If I want to play Portal, I'll play Portal.
Anyway, your description states that you are trying to recreate all the chambers as closely as possible, but Chamber 00 already falls noticeably short by including the ASHPD, which the original Portal did not.

i had to play around with it a little bit but yeah, you just activate two simultaneously. problem is, even when that happens, the player still keeps the single portal gun, so they can move the blue one around
