Imperial Heavy Armor in Helgen Keep

Description
Update: v2

- fixed the placement of armor on the shelves slightly, moved Imperial bracers from the shelf to the top of the chest.
- added clutter to the shelves to make it seem less like someone just left some armor there for no reason.

A mod that adds Heavy Imperial Armor to the first room of Helgen Keep.

It always annoyed me that when choosing the Stormcloaks you could go through the tutorial with Imperial Heavy armor, but when choosing the Imperials you were forced to use light armor. It's not fair!

This mod fixes that by adding Imperial Heavy Armor to the first room of Helgen Keep where you enter with Hadvar. I've also added a pair of Imperial Light Bracers into the room to complete the light set. You can get a pair in the tutorial already by killing the torturer, but this allows you to avoid that if you wanted to pick them up.

I've placed the armor around the room seperately so it's not just clumped together as an obvious "gimme".

This mod doesn't edit any containers, quests, navmeshes, dialogue, NPCs, etc. Items are only placed in the open world on shelves or objects that already exist. There shouldn't be any conflicts unless another mod uses the same "space" for items.

Now there really should be "plenty of gear to choose from." Don't forget to rate if you enjoy.

Niiice :D
It's an even greater help for anyone using the RP rule of "don't loot or use bloodied equipment", which makes obtaining the Imperial Heavy set a bit troubley (either work for it or steal from the Dunmer in Windhelm or start the war)

Super late, but do you think you could add an iron greatsword to the Stormcloak side? Because it seems half of the Stormcloaks have them, but the only way to get one if you're a Stormcloak is to kill one of them or wait for someone else to.

So yeah, the leather is a more practical choice for the majority of Imperial forces. But it also makes sense that there should be SOME soldiers wearing full steel.

@Sayaprayer: While that's very true, it also stands to reason that the insurrection in Skyrim would be considered a serious enough military issue (especially with the Thalmor watching the Empire's every move) that they would move as much of their heavy equipment to the front lines as they could afford--and while I'm sure the Great War took its toll on Imperial forces to the point they couldnt't afford to give anywhere near all their soldiers armor, all garrisons would have to be well-stocked with it in the event of a Stormcloak attack. Helgen had one such garrison. The fact Ulfric Stormcloak himself was being brought to an execution only increases the probability that Helgen was a heavily fortified Imperial outpost, since any competent Stormcloak scout would have followed the caravan, worked out its destination, and helped stage an attack.

To Emperor Zet - The whole design behind not having every Imperial wear heavy armor is the idea it cost large sums of gold to outfit each soldier with heavy steel. The leather is a more reasonable budget. Try to think of it that way and compare it to the cost of War today and outfitting each soldier.

I'm well aware of that the Tamrielian Empire is inspired by the Romans. Such things plus the lore are one of my favourite aspects of the games. Recently I've found out that the empire in the fourth era (after the great war) is only composed of High Rock, Skyrim and Cyrrodiil. And about matching with the Stormcloaks, Imperial soldiers in light armor vs Stormcloaks, the Imperials are chanceless against the two-handed weapons the Stormcloaks have.

Haha, it is a little bit odd after the last games had them all wearing heavy armor 100% of the time. But I think they were going towards the realistic sense that most ancient nations didn't have the money to supply all soldiers with heavy steel plate. Most wore chainmail and leather armor in Roman times (Romans being what they based Imperials off of. They even look Italian!) It also seems like they were trying to match the Imperial's armor to the Stormcloaks. But then maybe it would have been more interesting to have one-handed+Heavy Armor vs. Two-handed+light armor. :)

That said, I agree that they could've mixed it up a bit more in the "worldspace" of Tamriel (as opposed to the Soldiers in the fort battles, which are basically cannon fodder). Based on their appearance I'd say all Imperial Soldiers were scouts. I like the idea of different soldier types in particular. Maybe I'll play around with it and see what I can come up with.

That's good to know, I have wanted proper legonaires ever sence I found that close to nobody wears heavy armor. It just seems stupid to me.

I do know how to edit NPCs, leveled lists, edit quests/dialogue and all that. It's definitely possible and that would be an interesting project.

I don't really know how to retexture faces or anything along those lines, though. Because of the gray-face bug and nav-mesh bug I've been reluctant to do any extensive modding of any kind, tbh.
