FFX-2 Primer Locations

Albhed Primers can be obtained by watching certain cutscenes which include Al Bhed, or at the excavation minigame at Bikanel.

Chapter 1

• The Celsius - Speak to Brother and Buddy after completing the first mission.
  
  
• Luca - Speak to Rin in Luca after completin the "Behind the Scenes" mission.
  
  
• Djose Temple - Sign up for the desert excavation by talking to Gippal.
  
  
• Macalania - Talk to the Al bhed woman standing outside the shop at the lake. Must be done before the "Follow That O'aka" mission.
  
  
• Bikanel - The player will obtain one primer upon first visit to Bikanel. After that, all primers that have not been obtained can be found through digging (this can be done in any Chapter except Chapter 4).

The player can still get the Djose and Macalania primers in Chapter 2 if missed in Chapter 1.

Chapter 2

• The Celsius - Talk to Shrina at the beginning of the Chapter.
  
  
• Djose - Talk to Gippal.

Chapter 3

• Djose - The player can get two primers here. For the first, talk to Gippal before completing the "Protect Besaid Temple!" mission. The second will be obtained when the "No Way Djose" mission starts.
  
  
• Macalania - Obtained before the "Secure the Agency" mission starts.

Chapter 4

• The Celsius - Once the chapter starts, talk to Paine on the deck than go to the Bridge. This will obtain the first primer. For the second, watch the Djose and Macalania Commsphere events.

Chapter 5

• The Celsius - After meeting with Leblanc at the Farplane, go to the Deck and trigger the scene with Brother and Buddy.
  
  
• Djose - Must defeat the Experiment for the first time.
  
  
• Thunder Plains - Obtained after completing the "A Fallen Genius?" mission.

i noticed number 5 can be obtained if you head back to besaid to collect the jecht spheres, it was in the bottom right hand corner of the same room.

It is not exclusive to Steam version or Expert sphere grid. its always been there so you can, if previous save data, translate the al bhed used at game start.

When playing Steam FFX on Expert sphere mode:

Missed 1: (Spoiler)
In the very beginning, when Tidus wakes up just after Sin sucks him into the void. Swim along the water ruins until you see stairs, go up stairs walking to the left you will find a cyan Al Bhed primer sphere on the ground.

Soticoto its cause FFX2's Guaranteed Primers are completely and utterly freaking random ive gotten Primer 1,5,9,15 & 24 from Brother in various play throughs

Why thank you ever so kindly for this ma'am, Ive been searching for 1 primer i missed half way through FFX the last 24 hours but obviously i had to resort to getting guidance and start the game anew as i dont save often lol Top Shiela regardless! SotiCoto, the Al Bhed Primers in FFX-2 are ludicrously easy iirc. you'll find them all using the excavation minigame in the Desert. Though I haven't played as a kid, but when I was a kid, I was amazed at how easy it was to find the Al Bhed Primers in comparison to FFX

... but apparently this one can't be arsed with numbers, so it is effectively useless.

I found this gude and it became clear I missed a primer in my current game.
So I loaded up a previous save, found the missing primer and then made a new save.
And I went back to my current game and used the new save with the compilation sphere on the airship.
And lo and behold, i got the complete set of primers!

So yeah, the point of this post is that if you miss one and are dreading restarting your game, the compilation sphere can help you
