Prologue
Thank you all for reading my guide, please rate it if you could, it would be much appreciate since it has taken alot of time to make especially playing through the game making videos and taking the screenshots. I will always be updating the guide so please leave comments if you are unsure about anything or you want me to add things in you have found.

Thanks again

Alpha Leopard.
Helpful Tips while playing the Game

  • When leveling up your characters they will all recieve the same AP from battle, so if a battle gives you 500AP each character that participes in the battle will recieve 500AP.

  • Fire deals x1.5 damage to Ice and Vice Versa, Electric deals x1.5 damage to Water and Vice Versa.

  • Different sections will have the same elemental fiends, so if you dont have an ultimate weapon or an uber weapon created by yourself remember to switch weapons to make it easier on yourself.(E.g if your running into alot of fire type fiends, put ice weapons on or fire wards)

  • Don't ignore blitzball, you need to play it to get most of Wakka's items (Overdrives, Ultimate Weapon, achievements etc)

  • Make sure you do the destruction spheres in all the Cloister of Trials, this will get you the items needed for your Ultimate Weapons. If you miss them, when you go back there will be a Dark Aeon waiting for you that you'll have to get passed first.

  • Shortly after getting your Aeon you'll meet a woman called Belgemine, she'll offer you an Aeon fight, make sure you defeat her for a better item.

  • If you use Yunas 'Grand Summon' Overdrive on an Aeon that already had a full overdrive, you can use the Aeons overdrives twice.

  • Dont bother trying to do the 'dodge 200 lightning bolts' in the Thunder Plains when you get there, wait till you have a 'No Encounters' weapon then go back there on Cid's Airship.

  • When entering a new section which seems tough, run around near the save sphere leveling yourself up, get around 10 levels for each charater then continue on your way.

  • When you get to the Calm Lands sell all your unwanted weapons, then use the money to buy Yojimbo.

  • Upgrading Celestial Weapons with crest will allow your Aeons to break 9999 limit.

  • Over killing enemies (especially bosses) will give you more items or much better items after the battles.

  • Remeber this new version allows you to speed the game up (F1) and turn encounters on and off (F3) so you can do side quests quickly without interruptions.

Blitzball
  • Make sure you change your play type to MANUAL A (pressing select on game pad when you have the ball) This way you can control the offense part of the game and leave the defending on auto.

  • Its upto you if you want to hire new teammates further in the game, but i prefer to keep the Besiad Aurochs squad (even though Letty and Datto are just terrible to begin with)

  • Tip for leveling up your characters, to begin with just use Tidus to shoot and score. Once he's leveled up enough to score very easily (around level 15) this is when you begin to level up your other charaters very quickly, in all the rest of the games use Tidus to score 4-5 goals in the first half then spend the second half just passing the ball between Letty, Datto, Jassu and Botta and just taking random shots, they will level up very quickly, Also when there contracts run out there very cheap to renew them for 99 games (around 4000 gil each)

  • Leveling up is based on 'Successful Passes, tackles, blocks, goals and saves
Setting formation

Whatever position you prefer to put your players in, i'd recommend keeping them in those postions it just makes it easier to know whos where, what they look like, strenghts, weaknesses etc.

Setting Techs

This is where you can equip your skills for your players, you either win them in the league or tournements or via Techcopying them off other characters you play against. (Apart from Jecht Shot, which you earn on the ship before Luca)

Techcopying

There are 2 steps to Techcopying, firstly during the match setup in the 'Set Mark' section you need to set each of your players to a BLUE worded enemy move, E.g If 'Venom Shot' is in white, that player cannot learn that move yet, but if its written in blue the player can learn the move.

The second step is during the game, whenever an enemy uses his ablitly (if you have assigned one of your players to it) the word Techcopy will appear in the top left and flash between the colours white and blue, you need to press your 'B' button when its blue to copy the technique. If done successfully you will be notfied in the bottom left. You can equip the move either at half time or before the start of the next game (Dont worry if you missed it the first time, you can try again next time the enemy use the ability)

Techniques

They basically tell you what they do when you equip them on the players but here is a couple of things you might need to know...
  • Jecht Shot 2: Can only be aquired after Tidus is level 28+ has learned Jecht Shot 1 and Anti-Vemon 2

  • Golden Arm Lowers the drop rate of your shots and passes.

  • Each player can equip upto 5 techniques, once you reach level 30 you will unlock your 5th slot

  • During 'Tackle Slip' your player can get disoriented and forget a technique, you will have to re-equip it at half time or the start of the next game.

If a player is poisoned by venom, they can not use any techniques until the poison has worn off.

Offense
  • HP 'Health Points' is used up during 'dribbling' and using Techniques, if you can't use a certain Technique its probably because you dont have enough health or you are poisoned

  • EN 'Energy' Is how much damage you can take before you loose the ball, use this to calculate how many players you can break through before shooting, passing or dribbling. It is your EN vs their AT (beware your not always going to take the exact amount stated, it varies sometimes you'll take less damage and sometimes more) EN can be increased with leveling up your players, successful breaks and use of Tackling Techniques.

  • SH 'Shoot' is what you need to score, every second it takes the ball to reach the goal keeper your shot reduces, then its whats left of your 'shot' vs the goal keepers CA 'Catch' (beware even if your SH is higher than the keepers CA, the keeper still might save it) SH can be increased with leveling up your players, scoring goals and use of Shot Techniques.

  • PA 'Pass' this is used up during passing the ball, every second it takes the ball to reach your teammate this will deplete, if it reaches 0 before it gets to your teammate your teammate will drop the ball. (It is your PA vs thier BL 'block'. PA can be increased with leveling up your players, successful passes and use of Pass Techniques
Defense
  • AT 'Attack'This is the amount you can 'potentionally' take off the opponents EN when defending, it can be increased with leveling up your players, successful breaks and use of tackling techniques.

  • BL 'Block' Is used to stop passes, it is not always guaranteed that amount but can take enough off for others to stop it or the catching player to drop it. This can be increase with leveling up your players, Successful blocks and use of passing techniques.

  • CA 'Catch' is for the goal keepers, a higher catch might not stop a lower SH from point blank range, you'll need about a 9 point gap for a guaranteed save. This can only be increased by leveling up your players, successful catches or a small number of techniques.

Other
  • SP 'Speed' This is how fast you can swim around, It is only shown when either viewing your own players stats or hiring a new player, this can only be increased with leveling up your players...Ronso's have very slow speed.

https://youtu.be/tYnyTGCcgmI

Hiring other players
  • Most people in Spira play Blitzball, just walk upto people and press 'X' on them, this will bring up there Blitzball Stats.

  • The more games you win the higher your 'Scout' level will be for hiring players, you'll get max level 7 scouting after about 30 wins
Airship Coordinates
You do not have to solve the riddle in order to enter the passwords. Just talk to Cid on the bridge of the Airship to bring up the destination list. Select the “Input” option in order to enter the passwords. The coordinates dont have to be precise, just in the general region.

The three Al Bhed Passwords are:

Jecht Spheres
Jecht Spheres

Collect all 10 for Aurons overdrives and the achievement. They will only appear after you have collected the first sphere (Story related) then you can go about collecting the others when you like.

1. Given to you in Macalania Woods after killing the blue blob boss

2. In Besaid next to the temple

3. Outside the Besaid Aurochs locker room

4. Found in the captains room of the the ship from Besaid to Killika

5. Thunder Plains next to a lightning rod

6. Moonflow south pier

7. Mi'ihem old road

8. Macalania Woods next to the woman

9. Mt Gagazet near the top along a small passage

10. Mushroom Rock Road at the very end up the last lift

Cactuar Locations
Cactuars locations for Mercury Sigil

You need to do them one at a time, once you have got one of the spheres you need to take it back to the stone statue and place it, then go and find the next Cactuar. You get 3 trials at each one, it doesnt matter if you fail them, either way you will get a sphere.

*Note you can capture these Cactuar making your life a little easier for the Beast Masters side mission.

Make sure you either use a 'No Encounters' weapon or press F3 and turn encounters off, otherwise you'll get very annoyed at the random battles.

1. Oasis - to the right of the save sphere.

2. Sanubia-East - running around a treasure chest in the northwestern alcove.

3. Sanubia West - read the signpost that advertises a "20% off sale". The cactuar will then appear.

4 & 5. Sanubia Central - running back and forth in the northwestern ruins. Leaving Sanubia West via the exit opposite the Cactuar Village takes the player straight to that particular area.

6. Sanubia East - touch the save sphere in the tent. The cactuar will then appear.

7. Sanubia Centra
l - inside a treasure chest in the southwest corner.

8. Sanubia West
- in a shifting sand pit. To make the cactuar appear, the player must leave the area after delivering the sphere from Robeya and return.

9. Oasis - the cactuar will use the save sphere to teleport onboard the airship. The player must board the airship and go to the top deck to find him.

10. Sanubia West - appears behind the player once the spheres from the first nine are all taken back to the stone.
Dark Aeons
Dark Aeons

These are the toughest things in the game, (other than Nemisis & Pennance) the only way to beat them is cast Auto Life on your party then Overdrive, Overdrive and Overdrive some more, pull out an Aeon to die when the Dark Aeon's overdrive is full. Other than that i can only give you thier locations...

Valefor Besaid Village, where you first began.

Ifrit Sanubia Desert West, last area to the left in a whole.

Ixion Thunder Plains, after the Travel Agency. (Have to fight twice)

Shiva Outside the entry to Macalania Temple.

Bahamut Zanerkand, where you fought Yunalesca.

Yojimbo Chamber of the Stolen Faith. (You need to go back into the chamber of faith first)

Anima Mt Gagazet. (You need to go to the end of the cave and redo the blitzball thing first)

Magus Sisters Start of Mushroom Rock Road.

Capturing Fiends
Caputring Fiends

An arduous task, you can only buy your capture weapons from the beast master in the calm lands, my only recommendation to make your life eaiser is to either make sure your on a very high level or put Deathstrike or Deathtouch on your capture weapons, you'll need 10 of each fiend and it will tell you at the top of the screen when you have reached your capture limit for that certain fiend.

If your strong enough i'd recommend putting Auto attack on 'F4' and x2 or x4 speed 'F1' then just walk back through the game, it will make things go alot quick and all you have to do is walk in between battles.

Once you have captured all of the fiends head back to the beast master and kill all the fiends he has created to unlock Nemisis & Penance, then kill these two for your achievements. Be warned....they are even harder than any Dark Aeon you have faced.
Achievements
Chocobo Master

https://youtu.be/QnoLnxdogyk

Perfect Sphere Master

Create these weapons and armours for all your characters, then run around the Omega Ruins, you'll have it in no time

*NOTE you need to fully complete the sphere grids empty nodes as well, so to shorten the game by around 500 hours i'd recommend getting this achievement last and using the new 'change parameters' to get 99 of every item.

Theater Enthusiast

Easy enough just make sure you have around 500,000 gil once you beat sin then head to Luca and buy all the spheres from the theatre.

A Journeys Catalyst

Just select the 'Eternal Calm' when you next load FFX

Under the Table

Once you unlock bribe on the sphere grid (probably buy Rikku first) just chuck 100.000 and the next fiend that crosses your path.

For the dark aeons if you just go do like 50 battles in a row and just use Yojimbo paying him 1000gil each time after about 40 battles he'll start using Zanmato automatically after being summoned keep going until you notice Yojimbo will only use Zanmato just keep paying him the 1000 gil. Another way to boost this is once you notice him using the Zanmato pay him 10,000gil on occasion and he should do Zanmato every time you pay him 10,000 thats when I start taking on the dark aeons no need for autolife just initiative Yuna instant summon Yojimbo and its game over every time. I done this to dark Yojimbo too very easy once you've paid him up a lot.

for Perfect Sphere Master the fastest ap in the game with those weapons it the beast battle tonberry creation. just defend a few times and get hit with the karma. should gain between 40 and 60 levels per battle with most used characters

For Kimarhi's Spirit Lance "Saturn Sigil" you should put that it must be done after you have finished Zanarkand as the prizes for the butterlfy catching are different before that point in the game.

A great completionist list IMO. i have 66 hrs in so far, and have done alot more this early into the game then ive ever had in the 12 years of my knowledge of this game! so bios for some steps could of been worded out better, but its been very helpful. thank you.

"FFX Full Guide" except it's not because it doesn't have a story walkthrough. I don't care what your opinion is on this topic because you're still guilty of misleading a LOT of people that come to this page. I'd fix this ASAP if I were you.

To all of you struggling with Chocobo catcher, the real foolproof guide is this: Lose two times with more than 1 minute on the clock (as soon as the race starts, hug the left mountain and stay there until one minute has passed, then finish the race). After that, the balloons will align more in your favor, specially those at the beginning. Don't expect a straight line, but they will get placed more in your favor. With a little practice you can finish this whole thing in half an hour. Practice a bit, learn how to dodge the birds and do the trick. When you get enough balloons in each phase, go to one side and don't try to get more balloons. You still need to avoid the birds to finish around the 36 seconds mark.

A correction for the Mars/Saturn Sigil for Auron.

You don't need to collect ten of every monster in the game. From the wiki: "The Mars/Saturn Sigil is obtained from the owner of the Monster Arena. The player must unlock a total of ten Area Conquest or Species Conquest monsters. It can be any combination of the two. Catching at least one of each type of fiend in an area unlocks an Area Conquest, while catching all the fiends of a particular species unlocks a Species Conquest."

I really love this guide, although i think it was named incorrectly. I think 100% Compendium would make for sense for the contents inside, as the guide doesn't hold your hand throughout the game. I absolutely l love guides like this, though, because then you wont get bombarded with spoilers from the guide and you can just play the game at your own pace and look over once in a while like "how does this work again?"
