This is an appendix for my "Pistol basics and advanced tactics" guide for the original Half-Life. Read it first if you haven't. Link is below.

Male Black Ops

Male Black Ops are very similar to Half-Life's Human Grunts, but are a lot faster. All of the usual strategies for defeating Human Grunts applies to Male Black Ops, though exploiting their AI via cover is more risky because of how fast they are.

All types of Male Black Ops take full damage from headshots, unlike Human Grunts.

Pit Drone

Pit Drones are fast little buggers, but they have a head you can use to register headshots with. Aim at the hole in the center of the Pit Drone to register a headshot. This is particularly useful in Hard difficulty, as Pit Drones have a lot more HP than they do in other

Shock Trooper

You're going to enter a world of pain with Shock Troopers.

On paper, Shock Troopers are just Human Grunts that have a different model and fire electricity projectiles instead of bullets. However, the problem is that the Shock Trooper's projectiles are extremely fast, and unlike Human Grunts, they do not lose accuracy at range. This removes one of the key anti-Hgrunt strategies, getting far away from them.

This leaves you with other anti-Human Grunt strategies; using cover to exploit their AI by popping in and out of cover to reduce their ability to shoot, use cover in general, or isolate them to take them out one at a time. Exploting the AI is going to be a little more dangerous because there's a higher chance of taking a hit because of how fast Shock Trooper projectiles are./

Note that hitting the eye counts as a headshot, so aim for it whenever possible. If your health is low, landing consistent headshots is your only hope for defeating a Shock Trooper before it kills you.

Shock Roach

It's just a reskinned Headcrab.

Voltigore

Despite the large amount of HP Voltigores have, defeating them with them pistol is quite easy, but it'll take a bit of ammo.

First, make sure you have some cover or somewhere to retreat to. Once you have, start shooting at the Voltigore. When the Voltigore starts to create it's purple electric projectile, hide behind cover or retreat. Once the projectile has passed where you were before going into cover or retreating, head back to the Voltigore and repeat the process until it is dead. The Voltigore has a lot of health, so make sure you have plenty of pistol ammo before taking one on with the pistol.

Baby Voltigore

Once it starts getting close, run backwards while shooting at it and it'll be dead before you know it.

Gene Worm

You can defeat the final boss, the Gene Worm, with just the pistol and the mounted guns in his arena.

Make sure your pistol is reloaded, then disable his eyes with the mounted guns. When he reveals his core, unload your pistol into the core. Once you've got enough hits in, he'll recoil in pain and cover his core with his tentacles. You have a limited amount of time to deal enough damage to the core, which is why it's important to make sure your pistol is reloaded before firing at the core; you don't want to waste time by reloading while he's vulnerable.
