This guide will show you How to Idle for Skins in Don't Starve Together that you can either sell on the Community Market, trade or collect.

What Are Skins?

Skins are equipable items that players can use to customise their in-game characters. Players can change which Skins they are using when they first join a server (doing so after they select their character) or in-game by using a Wardrobe. They are randomly set to drop after spending a certain time on servers.

• The first skin of the week drops after approximately 15 minutes of being on a server.
• The second skin drops approximately 2 hours of being on a server after the first skin.
• The third skin drops approximately 4 hours of being on a server after the second.
• The fourth skin drops approximately 10 hours of being on a server after the third.

Players do not have to be active to receive skins, though they must open the earlier gift box to receive the next one. A maximum of 4 gift boxes can be earned every week; this counter resets every Thursday.

Skins are purely for cosmetic purposes only and do not affect gameplay besides visuals. Currently, once the skin is obtained, it cannot be destroyed, but Steam users can trade skins with other players, buy/sell them on the Community Market or use the Trade INN interface, where a player can exchange nine unwanted skins for one skin of higher quality. Distinguished skins cannot be traded in for Elegant skins, and Elegant skins cannot be traded in because it is the highest tier.

To obtain a skin, a player must receive a random drop, which will be signalled with a gift box appearing in the top-left corner of the screen and a sound similar to ripping the paper. After this, the player must go to one of the science research stations (Science Machine or Alchemy Engine) to open it. When a whistle plays and the research station starts producing streams of shadows, the gift can be opened, and the Skin will be obtained.

There are six different types of Skins (Torso, Gloves, Legs, Shoes, Items, and Character-Specific) that are classified based on rarity (Common, Classy, Spiffy, Distinguished, and Elegant). Most items come in a variety of colours, and all clothing items are for both male and female. There are now campfire skins, which one has a "Loyal" rarity. The player can get up to 4 skins per week; this count resets every Thursday.

Idling for Skins

Step 1) Click the Host Game button on the main menu and make sure you're on a blank world.

Step 2) Change your playstyle to cooperative and once done click the Generate World button.

Step 3) Pick any character and double-click the "Go!" button.

Step 4) Upon entering the world open up the console by pressing "Tilde" key on the top left of your Keyboard and type in the following commands "c_supergodmode(ThePlayer)" & "GetPlayer(ThePlayer).components.builder:GiveAllRecipes()" this will enable Godmode and Creative Mode.

Step 5) Craft and place down a Science Machine (the Science Machine is located under the Science tab).

Step 6) Lastly keep Don't Starve Together opened until The Gift Box appears on the top-left corner of your screen. The Gift Box will be signaled with a sound similar to paper ripping.

hello, im trying to sell my items and is not posible, anyone else is having this trouble?

I was able to drop 7 of them in about 5-6 hours. I've been active in the game for about 15 hours this week, but the 8th item doesn't drop. Do you have to open all daily gifts this week in order for the eighth item to drop? Or is it my luck that the 8th item's drop time is too long :D

I get 8 a week still, the time of the drops goes up a bit. This does not include the few drops you can get from the main menu a few times a day.

I think the number of skins that can be dropped per week has been increased. I read it as 8 in some places, but I could only drop 7. Does anyone know the exact weekly skin limit in the final update of the game?
