Starter guide, basics ( getting cloth) tips, and hints.
De ɃƵ Crazy Cat Lady
Many players log in not knowing basic things like how to get cloth, some players may not have played a survival game like this before. This is a quick guide to get you started in Nomad, this is just the basics.

The Too Long Didn't Read version is at the bottom.

First things first:

* When you start off hit M to look at the map, you are going to want to build a base/home ASAP, you want to make it close to a good looting spot, but not too close that you stand out, and get raided. Go to the city icons, or military zone icon (gun) if you want the good loot, that's where all of the guns, and ammo spawns.

* You may notice you start with a rock, you can use this rock to hit trees, and mining nodes to gather resources, such as Wood, Stone, and Metal ore.

Getting cloth rags: (SLEEPING BAG SPAWN POINT)
* Open your inventory (TAB) click the cloths you are wearing to remove them, middle mouse click them to tear them into rags, you should now have 4 cloth rags to craft a Sleeping Bag from the placeables crafting menu. Once you get to a location you like, or build your base, set a sleeping bag by clicking it, and pressing E to place it. When you die you can choose to spawn at this sleeping bag.

* If you need more carrying space you can craft a bag, or maybe a friendly player will give you a bag to use. Premium users start with 14 slot bags total.

* Building a Base:
You will want to craft an axe so you can gather wood quickly. Once you have 2 stone you can set up a furnace (craft from placeables crafting menu). Place a foundation from the structures crafting menu, place your Furnace on top, if you are lucky you will get a metal ore from the mining nodes. * Place the metal ore, and a wood into the furnace, this is going to make metal that you can use to craft axes, and a pickaxe. Now you can gather wood, and stone much faster.

Alternatively you can skip the furnace, and just use the stone to craft a primitive axe, or primitive pick, which take 2 hits to gather resources, not as good as the fire axe, or pick axe.
You craft these all from the weapons crafting menu ( which is at the bottom of the craft screen)
Once you have wood, you can start your base, place foundations, doorways, and walls to set up your base, hit F when looking at a wall, and select upgrade to turn your cardboard walls into solid wood, make sure it's how you want it before you upgrade it, and add doors to doorways. If you have stone on hand you can upgrade the walls again to stone, and upgrade doors to metal.

IMPORTANT: Build a work bench, and authorize it as soon as possible, make sure it is where no other players can get to it, this prevents other players from building near your base. Authorize bench by pressing E.

* Defending yourself: You can't always make a rush for the loot, but there is a quick way to give yourself a lethal line of defense. Once you have a cloth rag, and wood you can craft a bow (weapon menu), and arrows from the ammo crafting menu. These arrows can one shot zombies, and do good damage to hostile players, one piece of wood will give you 5 arrows. Alternatively if you don't want to waste your cloth rags you can get a wood, and craft a stick, a crude defensive weapon which may come in handy.
(Hit R to 'reload' your bow)

Looting guide:
Military zones (Gun icon on the map) is where the bulk of weapons, and ammo will spawn, you can also kill zombies which sometimes drop random loot, ammo, clothing, etc. But be careful, these zones will undoubtably be crawling with other players.
You can also get guns, and ammo from looting police stations in towns. Loot cities, and markets ( food icon) for food, and water.

Staying alive: You can craft a dew catcher anywhere in, or outside of your base, it is fairly big, once you do you can take empty bottles or canteens you loot, and fill them up so you don't die of thirst.
For food you can find food at markets, houses, or you can cook meat on a fire. Alternatively you can find seeds to plant outside of your base which will supply you with a continuous source of food. Make sure you have a structure around your seeds so they don't get raided, or destroyed.

Safety in numbers: You don't have to be a loner, it is highly advised that you make friends with other players, maybe other players starting out, just make sure they are trustable, and watch your back, any one on your ''team'' can shoot you in the back, but once trust is established you will have a looting buddy, be sure to add them on steam.
It's good to make friends with your neighbors.

TLDR:
* Middle mouse tears cloth. cloth makes sleeping bags (respawn point.) It also makes bandages, and bows.

* Use your rock to get stone to make axe/pick to build base by hitting trees/nodes.
* Put ore in furnace to make metal.
* The gun icon on the map (M) is the good loot.
* Use work bench in your base to stop others from building around your base.
* Use E to place, and use things, use F key to upgrade walls / structures.
* Have fun looting, and watch your back.
* Don't rage.

i would prefer not to die, so what i do is stockpile cloth, get wall torches, and stockpile LOTS of food and get a dewcatcher for unlimited water, and scavenge for food when i feel there is nobody with guns around, i stockpile endlessly when the server is near empty so ic an be ready to resist a raid.

Wait, but how do you obtain more cloth? Do you need to find other clothing and rip them up?
