I currently have over 400 hours (of the date: 4/13/16) in Unturned and I am here to share some tips and secrets of the game, good for noobs and pros!
Includes:
  • Become an overall better Unturned player
  • Learn secrets the put you in advantage over an average Unturned player
  • Win more arena matches
  • Die less
    -And much more

    IMPORTANT:
  • Use the "Guide Index" on the right side of your screen to quickly navigate throughout the guide

3rd Person
One of the best Unturned PVP tip is to use 3rd person (on servers with it available) to your advantage.

  • If you do not know, 3rd person can be used as a huge advantage to help you win in gun fights and catching people by suprise.
First off, When behind an object (wall, tree, etc.) you can see past the object in 3rd person while you are still behind the object, unseen. To your right you can see an example of this 3rd person advantage. If the zombie was a player, you could still see him, while you are safe, hidden behind the wall.

  • Another plus of 3rd person is the fact that you can use weapons with scopes in close up combat, for example, you have a heartbreaker with a 8x scope, instead of taking off the scope when wanting close-up gun fights, just go into 3rd person and you can fight regulary close up with your scoped gun, when needing to see through scope quickly, go back to 1st person.

  • Lastly, 3rd person helps aiming far away if you do not have any scopes for your gun. Also 3rd person appears to have some sort of auto-aim to me personally.

Safety First!
  • Helmets
If possible, always wear a helmet on any unturned PVP server. This is because, this prevents one-hit-kills, which can be frusterating! If you have a helmet on it is impossible to get one-hit-killed by any gun in the game, also, you can hotkey any medical item in the game (see next section to learn how) Example: Get hit by a Timberwolf, presses 3, instant meds to stop bleeding, survives... Miracles do happen!

  • Hot-key medical items
Hot-key medicals items in your hand inventory slot (item cannot be a weapon of any sorts and has to be in your hand inventory slot) by right-clicking them and pressing a number between 1-9 Very useful for emergency moments. Also, this can be for any other item in your hand inventory slot except for weapons.

  • Umbrellas
Very useful item to hotkey in your hand inventory slot, Umbrellas are the parachutes of Unturned, if hot-keyed you can easily equip it and recieve no fall damage for any size jump. Good for: skydiving off of buildings, planes, etc. also for preventing a broken leg from a small jump. (Please note that umbrellas are not in any arena map currently.)
Camoflauge Tips
Camofluage may be one of the most important aspect of a long-range gun battle, or any gun battle in fact, but few people know how to actually stay hidden...

  • Night Vision
Wearing night vision makes it super easy to be spotted. Here is an example of someone wearing a fulll ghillie suit, with night vision. The solution? Wear cosmetic glasses. Cosmetic glasses will hide the green dots given off by night vision.
If you do not have cosmetic glasses there are a few ways to obtain them, first way is to buy Unturned Gold, which will give you some nice pair of gold shades. Second, you can buy some glasses off the community market. Lastly you can always just wait untill you get a pair of cosmetic glasses from a random Unturned item drop.

  • Skin Color
If you have Unturned Gold DLC then you can change your skin color to precise colors, this can be used for camo. Grass color value is R:54 G:107 B:48 However, if you change your skin to this, and want to make it work properly, you need to have no cosmetics on, and no cloths/backpacks/ETC. on. So be completely naked. To the right, My character is in the circled bush, he has green skin so you can see how it works as camo

  • Tactical Laser
To the right is an example of a player with a full ghillie suit on, yet, he can easily be spotted because his Tactical Laser attachment is turned on. How to fix this: turn your laser off at night time by pressing B.
(Unlike the laser, the rangefinder attachment is unable to be seen by other players, even though it seems to be very bright in 1st person.)

How to Play Arena Mode in Unturned (and a brief introduction)
Arena is a mode that you can access by going to server list and choosing one of the arena maps in the server options bar (bottom of screen), then select one of the servers. Once joined on an arena server you will spawn in a house, where other players are, you cannot kill/punch in this house. After all the players in the current game die you will spawn in the arena, from there on you find a gun and kill, however, if you don't find a weapon quickly you will be an easy kill for another player. If you die you will spawn back to the house, you will then have to wait until all the other players die in the current game. Also, a "fog" will slowly make the map smaller until there is none of the map left, this allows for combat to happen, and not everyone to camp. If you win arena (you are the last survivor) then you will get eliminated from the game (killed). To sum it up, its the equivalent of Hunger Games.
Secret Locations of Arena Maps
  • Washington Arena
Left from the small island near the top of the map you can see a red circle, on Washington Arena this is a shadowstalker location! You will find the shadowstalker directly under the radio tower in the circled area.

  • PEI Arena
Shadowstalker location, and other possible secrets will be updated shortly

  • Alpha Valley
At the bottom right of the map you can see a small pond, at the very bottom of this pond is a shadowstalker location. However, because the pond is very close to the fog you have to be quick in getting there, or the fog will catch up and past the lake.

  • Monolith
South of the middle lake there is a tombstone, behind it, a shadowstalker! To the map of the right you can see where this tombstone lies

Arena Map Tips
Currently there are four Unturned arena maps, including Alpha Valley, Monolith, PEI Arena, and Washington Arena. Each Arena map has a unique playstyle. PEI Arena, Washington Arena, and Alpha Valley all have the same arsenal of weapons, while Monolith has a unique list of exotic weapons. IMPORTANT: On all arena maps there is a "fog" that closes into a certain point on the arena map, if possible, predict where the fog is going to by checking your map, going there is a smart idea, for then players will eventually have to come to you, where you can be waiting for them.

Individual Arena Map Tips:

  • Alpha Valley
Smallest arena map. Mostly close-up gun fights in houses, across streets, However, sometimes medium-range combat next to the farm. If you can, go for the pond at the corner of the map, at the bottom you will find the shadowstalker gun. This gun is a one-hit-kill (to the head) sniper, however it only has one shot, so be careful when taking your shot.

  • Monolith
Long-range to mid-range gun fights, map is most likely based off the Hunger Games, where you need to run to the middle to get guns, however, in Monolith behind most stone pillars is a weapon. A common mistake for many players is rushing to the middle of the map, instead, stay away from players for the first part of the game, find a stone pillar, get a weapon, then you are ready for combat. Do not rush to the middle of the map!

  • PEI Arena
All types of gun fights, although not the biggest arena map, is not far behind the Washington arena in size. Stay far away from the "fog" that closes in to a certain point onto the map, it will catch up quickly behind you, being a map with lots of water it can be tricky escaping the fog, if you do not pay attention to the map.

  • Washington Arena
Very diverse playstyles, partially because the map is split into many different enviorments. First, you have the gigantic city, Seattle, many players spawn here, causing gun fights to break out amongst the streets very quickly. Next, the wooded areas, and lots of it, being because most of the map is land, unlike PEI. But thats not all the enviorments, There will be many fights along the beach, small town outskirts, farms, military locations, ETC. The guns in Washington Arena will mostly spawn on 3/4 way stops on streets, so don't be fooled when you walk into a gun store and find no guns.
Grips
  • The Grip attachment

Grips for guns/ranged-weapons are arguably the best attachment for any gun/ranged-weapon in the game, so here is an in-depth look! There is currently 3 grips in the game, being bipod, horizontal grip, and vertical grip, each help out in different cases:

  • Bipod
"The Bipod is a rare grip attachment found in military locations. Like any other grip attachment, it can be added to any firearm that allows grip attachments."

Probally the most useful for any long ranged gun is bipod. This is because the bipod offers the best avaible gun control in the game once prone. However, it is not reccomended to use this grip on close-up combat guns for once you are not in prone the bipod does little affect.
    Pros
Makes sniping very easy in any gun because of excellent control once prone
    Cons
If you are not in prone the bipod is mostly useless

  • Vertical Grip
"The Vertical Grip is a grip attachment that can be uncommonly found at military locations. The vertical grip both reduces the vertical recoil caused by shooting (thus reducing re-aim time between successive precise shots), while also increasing overall accuracy."

As the name implies, a grip that decreases vertical recoil, personally I prefer the vertical grip over the horizontal, however this is only personal preference.
    Pros
    Decreases vertical recoil (duh)
    ok for sniping
    Cons
Not as good in controlling guns that like to "spray bullets" like the dragonfang
Not as good as bipod for sniping in prone

  • Horizontal Grip
"The Horizontal Grip is a grip attachment in Unturned that can be uncommonly found at military locations in 3.0. The horizontal grip reduces the horizontal recoil when shooting firearms."

Horizontal grip is good for keeping guns like the dragonfang that have a high rate of fire under control.
    Pros
    Good for high-rate-of-fire guns
    Cons
Not good to use with Snipers, as they do not have much horizontal recoil to start with
  • How to snipe with bullet drop and scope sway (Not finished section)
After the update 3.15.4 bullet drop, scope sway, and bullet time were all added. Although this makes it harder to snipe there are still tips and secrets of the pros.

    • Bullet drop
A topic that many have strong feelings about... Bullet drop is very easy to adjust to, as long as you have the right equipment to snipe with. What you will need: an 8x/7x scope and a rangefinder. With these scopes you can see little dashes underneath the middle of the scope, each one of these stands for 100 meters (in-game). If your target is 200 meters away then line up the second highest dash and the vertical line straight down the scope, then fire. If you did not mess up that would be a headshot! Example: As you can see to to the right that cow is just about 300 meters away from the sniper, the third dash from the center would be where he would aim.
(note, sorry if I did not mention the correct terms of scope markings, I am in no means an expert on this in real life)

yeah, cause it feels so good to click on someones head and kill them instantly. no skill. it's very satisfying to get through the drop and travel time and kill someone with all that in your way. it really improves sniping. sadly, it will not improve my spelling.

also the guide needs updating in some areas, as night vision now shows up instead of cosmetic glasses.

Hee, bullet drop is cancer, literally the worst thing ever added. 2.0 was so better.

note when you fire the shadow rember to strip the scope before you drop it the shadow is the ONLY scope in arena to show up 100% of the time
