Introduction

This guide is a Work In Progress

Gear Bits

The hidden boxes with a glowing golden icon on them are called "Gear Bits". If you collect four Gear Bits you get what I call an "Upgrade Bit". Upgrades from the shops in town cost two or three Upgrade Bits each.

Also, in town is a door in the south east of the town:



You'll notice I don't have all the Gear Bits & Keys mentioned in this guide. That's because this guide is a work in progress. Koykoy & Portalcrafter have found them all but haven't taken a picture of them. Leave a comment mentioning where they are and I (Conditional Love) will go and add it. If you have have a screenshot you want to share, leave a link in the comments.

Clarification on "get Ambushed"

At times I will warn you if you walk ahead you will be ambushed. By that I mean once you walk into the area ahead there will be many newly spawned enemy. Usually this also includes the area being closed off by a wall sealing you in. You can fight the ambush if you like, but you can also use the laser-sighted rifle to shoot one of the enemy which makes them come towards you to attack you. With some of the enemy outside the area where the new enemy spawn, all the ambushes will be much easier.

Home Town -Dash Challenge Gear Bit #1

Inside the "Dash shop" to east, there is a dash challenge. If you get 100 in the dash challenge you get a Gear Bit, if you get 800 you get a costume which slightly helps your dash.

• The Pro strategy is to use a mouse & keyboard. Controlled dashing is difficult with a gamepad.
  
  
• The cheese strategy is to put your mouse cursor in the middle of one of the pads and dash 800 times (you go back and forth). Thank you Goon for the metronome advice) - Build into a 4 dash combo then follow the beat of a metronome set to 240 bps 210 bps - ty Tofu (eg: http://a.bestmetronome.com/ ). DO NOT MUTE THE GAME
  
  
• The cheating strategy is to use an autoclicking program to press the dash button for you 800 times with a slight delay after each dash.

3 Key Door

Follow the the guide which takes you to the Eastern Gear Bit #12 & #13 & #14.

3 Key Door

Go West of the starter town, it's a long way (over the bridge and keep going west), until you get here:
Go up dashing across the platforms, through the archway, then there are more platforms to dash north across. Kill the enemy and the door is at the top north.

10 Key Door

Head north from the starter town, as soon as you enter the town area there is the 10 key door in front of you to the left. Collect 2 gear bits and a costume.

12 Key Door

South East in town. South and a little east of the bomb shop. See the screenshot in the introduction.

The elevator takes you to 4 royal rumble challenges representing the North, South, East and West areas, and after you have completed them, a fifth royal rumble challenge which has enemies from every zone.

16 Key Door

In the Southern area.

• 1. Go to the south-west teleporter
  
• 2. Don't go through the 1 module door, go east.
  
• 3. Push through
  
• 4. Once you fight the large amount of spiders in the room with 4 statues, dash to the platform on the left.

Eastern Area - Gear Bits

Gear Bit #1

Dash to the right to the little ledge, then dash south to the platform with the gearbit

Gear Bit #3

Go east from the starter town until there is no more greenery (you hit water), then go a little north until you see this:

Go east from the starter town until you fight the red frog ninja for the first time. At the bottom right corner of that area, just below the two poles, dash east underneath the aqueduct to find the gearbit.

Gear Bit #5

From the eastern teleporter go south and take the door on the immediate right with three triangle requirement. Follow that path (dash past disappearing platforms and kill the missle frog enemy) until you get here:

Gear Bit #6 - difficult

From eastern teleport go south and take the door on the immediate right with three triangle requirement. Follow that path til you get to the disappearing platforms. Dash around the corner as marked in the picture below:

Alternate method: hug the wall on the bottom left of the fire trap and walk over to that side

Gear Bit #7 and #8 - very difficult

From the east teleporter go south until you can't walk south anymore, then you will end up here:
Destroy the boxes and pull out the laser-sighted rifle. Hit the beacon to activate the pads. Dash over the pads, then do a series of dashes over the disappearing platforms.
At the end you will find a key and Gearbit #7. If you press the button next to the key a path back will appear. Once you reach this spot on the path in the picture, you can dash over to Gearbit #7 from the corner of the platform you're on.

Gear Bit #9 - very easy

From the eastern teleporter walk West until you can't anymore.

Gear Bit #10

From the eastern teleporter walk go east then up and around to the door, the follow as indicated (not far from teleporter):

Alternate instructions to get to the door:
You can access the door from the other side if you take the left door below the east teleporter then follow that around - kill the ambush continuing south and go east at the intersection to an elevator. Follow that path around (past a frog ambush) to the north-west corner of that level for an elevator which goes up. Follow that path which turns south and keep going past the submerged titan and south past a frog & slime ambush, then south to the door.

From the eastern teleporter, go south and take the door to your right. Follow that around and after you exit the underground there will be a large ambush. After you ambush go north a little then back into the ambush area to be ambushed again. After you kill the 2nd ambush a path on to the west will appear which take you underground. Go through the key door:
Go up into the next area. In the picture below, there is a gear bit not too far from to the west - past two disappearing floortile platforms. There is a module if you go the end of the path and activate its two nearby buttons - be careful of the frog ambushes.
If you instead go east from the room above the key door, there are 2 gears bits . You will encounter a turret and a frog ambush when you get the southern of those 2 gear bits .

Gear Bit #15 & #16

Go south from the Eastern Teleporter. At the intersection go south until you get to the elevator which takes you down. Get ambushed.

After the ambush go left and up past the Key Door. It's hidden on the right. continue on for gear bit #16

Gear Bit #17

(References are to an older version of this guide and now they don't make sense)
Go through the key door mentioned in Gear Bit #13. Go south and kill the large group of enemy. Keep going south dashing across platforms and the 4 fire breathing things, then dash to the platform in the West dashing past the 3 fire floor pieces. collect gear bit #16. Continue dashing south if you want a module and new item: from the bottom small platform, dash to the invisible floor to the right and a little upwards.

Gear Bit #18

From the eastern teleporter, go south and take the door to your left. Follow that path to the ambush zone. Go south from the ambush until you activate a button where I'm standing in the screenshot):
Go West then south following the path of the platforms with fire floor tiles. Activate the buttons

Gear Bit #19

From the screenshot above (Gear Bit #18), go east and take the elevator down. On the next level follow the path around to the east until you can't anymore, then follow the wall upwards smashing the big grey box which is blocking the entrance to the hidden area.

Gear Bit #19&20&21&22

From the eastern teleporter, go south and take the door to your left. Follow that path to the ambush zone. The go east and take the elevator down. Follow that path east and kill the enemy, then up and back to the west, and up to the elevator. Go up and dash to the first platform to the east, then dash up north on the platforms and boats until you get the gear bit.

Go back onto the stone floor and go to the right. Follow the path South. Exit the area. In the new area, go to the right, down the stairs until you can't. Stand on the wooden deck. You'll see the Gear Bit to the right, across the water. Use the lily pad as a platform to reach it.

Go back to the intersection ontop of the stairs. Go South, past the Titan, past the intersection ontop of some other stairs. Keep going South. You'll reach an ambush area with a tent in it. Deal with the ambush and keep to the left (dash across the gap to the left). Follow the path South and dash across the gap to find the Gear Bit.

Go back up to the area to the North (gear bit #20). Keep to the left, follow the path, you'll reach an elevator near some dead otters, take it. You'll arrive in an area with a lot of glowing mushrooms. Go to the South first. Once you can't any more, keep going to the right. Jump the last gap, you'll end up in a corner. Go through the wall where the white tiles are scattered to find a totem. Shoot it to reveal a path to the Gear Bit nearby. Go back around to the elevator you arrived with and go to the right this time. You should be able to find the Gear Bit from here. Beware of ambushes.

Gear Bit #24

Eastern, after beating the boss and getting the module, go south until you see a bunch of trees. There will be a gear bit hidden in the trees.

Eastern Area - Gear Bits2

Gear Bit #24 & #25 & #26 & #27 & #28

Follow the path from nearby door which is northeast of the eastern teleporter - go through the 8 module door. Go east as far as you can, past the fire floortiles and enemy. Two gear bits are found going to the southeastern corner then dashing south past the fire floortiles - there will be a path over platforms to west. The third gear bit is found going to the far east where the water is and activating the button hidden behind the block in the northeast corner. The fourth gear bit is found to the west after you have killed the main ambush battle of plant beasts and green monsters. Then you can take the door on the left which leads to the elevator up. To your left is a stone monument and to your right is a gear bit at the end of the path which you jump south from to exit the dungeon.

Gear Bit #29

Go South from the Eastern teleporter. Pass the otters in the water, exit the screen and keep following the path. At the corner with the trees to the right go South. Keep going South till you reach an elevator at the structures and plants. Take it down. You should arrive at a room where you can see some otters underwater, it's like a water tank. Keep going on. In the next room, there should be an ambush with shooters, explosive plants, and big plants. After beating them, go South through the security door. Take the elevator up at the end of the path. Once you arrive, go South from next to the elevator on a hidden path. Stand on the switch near if needed, and go South to the left side. There should be a lot of fire tiles forming a puzzle to the Gear Bit. Some medkits are recommended, you can heal between hits from the fire tiles.

Gear Bit #30

go to the left where there's a one key door requirement. At the very end of that dungeon where one of the modules is located, there is an invisible platform that you have to dash to. A key is located there

Northern Area - Gear Bits

Gear Bit #1 & #20

Just as you've left the town, go Northeast. There'll be a gap and a cliff on the other side. Keep to the ledge on your side till you can dash over onto the cliff. Follow the path South, using dashes, to eventually reach the Gear Bit.

Continued from Gear Bit #1. Keep going North till you leave the big white walls. Afterwards, keep to the right. Once standing on the ledge, you'll see a medkit and a box. You can't reach those from here, but there's an invisible path to the right leading you to the Gear Bit. It's just below the tree nearby.

Gear Bit #2

From the starter town go north, keep going north until you are on the stairs here:
Dash across the platforms which turn south.

Gear Bit #3

From the starter town, go north until you are in the area with buildings. In the first building to the right, go up onto the ledge and around the false wall and step on the button:

leave the hidden area and go right, jump on new platform to the right and jump right again.

Gear Bit #4

keep going north until you get to the grand stairs with totem poles in the middle:

At the top of the grand stairs take the path left, follow it around:

Gear Bit #6 - difficult

North of the cave with the waterfall there is a path to right here. Shoot the pillar with the laser-sighted rifle from the Western boss, then dash across the platforms which go around to the north. Be careful as there a million harpies on the way to the module. I find the best way to kill a horde of harpies is bait them then stand next to a wall you can defend with.
North of here is the module, West of here is the gear bit:

Gear Bit #7

In the room with 2 wizards and some other enemies, clear the room and then go through the hole in the wall to get to another Gear Bit

Gear Bit #8

After you have killed the boss.
From the starter town, go North and until you reach the small settlement area. Immediately go east until you can go down and kill the group of enemy thingies, then go east down the stairs. It's dark down here, follow along the left wall.

Gear Bit #9& #10

As you go through the hall which leads to the North Bird boss. Go west as indicated, then dash up over the pads and get the Gear Bit. Smash the boxes around to uncover a teleporter, use it. Kill the Bird guys and collect Gear Bit #10:

Take the same secret path west as in Gearbit #9 but go south as indicated:

Go north from the teleporter, go north then around to the west past the teleporter then take the broken bridge west. There is a teleporter net to the frozen titan. Take that and follow the path along the dungeon until you are in the room with the disappearing floor in the middle here:

From the Northern Teleporter, go up and around to the east, to the bottom of the stairs and through the 3 module door. Take the elevator and dash up north over the platforms until you are here:

Gear Bit #15

Northern area. Before gear bit #3. When you reach the broken stairs leading up the left side - there is a path to the right of those stairs leading through some trees and to a cave. There is a small green structure on the right side of the cave entrance. Inside that cave, on the left side, there's a hidden box with the gear bit.

Gear Bit #16 & 17

(8 module requirement) From the northern teleporter go north and around to east then south to the 8 module door. Follow the underground path. You'll fight a million harpies and a few mages and collect two gear bits on that path. Don't forget to activate the Stone Monument above the teleport too.

Gear Bit #18

From the northern teleporter go north and around to east then south to the 8 module door. Just past the door with the turret under it there is a bridge up to the left where you fight several harpies and the first blocks disappear there is a safe square with several blocks on it. standing just above the blocks reveals a hidden button that shows a path leading left and down for a gear bit.

Go East of the Northern teleporter. On the next screen, you should find a small teleporter near a house. Take it. Take the elevator in the next area. Keep going through the area till you reach this spot after the first set of 3 moving blocks.



Stand in the place shown in the screenshot (go through the hole in the bars) and interact to reveal the invisible path. Follow it through some turrets and enemies to get to the Gear Bit.

Go down the elevator at the Titan who died climbing the mountain. It's to the far East. Once you did, there's a hidden path through this wall. Go through to find the Gear Bit.

Western Area - Gear Bits

On the main path to the Western Teleporter, keep going west. It's a long long way from the starter town, past the bridge and west of where you go down in Gear Bit #2, until you get to where the dogs attack you. Go North then take the first path east here:
Take the path east as far as you can then go into the door. Go around as indicated:

Gear Bit #6

Same as Gear Bit #5, go west until you get to the area where the dogs attack you, then go to the SouthWestern corner as indicated:
Activate the button as indicated above, walk down across the new platform. Once on land head to the far east and smash the big crystal - Gear Bit #6 is behind it.

Gear Bit #7

West of the Western Teleporter where the Crystal Spike trap is:

Keep going down and a little to the east. You will be trapped in there until you kill the crystal guys and the crystal spiders:

Gear Bit #9

In the far left of the screenshot for Gear Bit #8 there is a pillar you can activate. Activate it, and go west. Get ambushed by dogs, then a million crystal spiders and one samurai. Collect the gear bit.

Gear Bit #10

West of the Western Teleporter, past the Crystal Spike trap keep going west. Go south of the ambush trap (snipe them from outside the area with the laser-sighted rifle if you don't like danger, the enemy will leave the trap area to come to you so you can slice them). Keep going south along the path, then west dash across twice to the platform you see here, snipe the pillar from here:
Go across the new platform, kill the enemy, Smash the crystal next to the left of the Gear Bit, quickly collect the Gear bit then dash away.

Gear Bit #12

Follow the usual path west of the teleporter, going underground then up until you are here:
Go West. Take you time killing the samurai, rifle enemy, crystal guys & crystal spiders. To the North of the area, dash east across the gap.

Gear Bit #13&14

From the Western Teleporter, go east to the next area. In the next area follow along the south wall. From the Samurai & Dog ambush go south and west, one gear bit is in the north of that area and one is south.

Gear Bit #15

See Western Key #1. It is on the far south wall from the pillar you shoot

Northern Area - Key

Key #1

From the Northern teleporter station go north and take the first path West, go around and down and use the first teleport you see. It will take you West, follow that path around and use the teleporter. Use the teleporters, Kill the bird-mage thingy enemy, use the teleporter until you end up here:

Key #2

On the usual path from the town north to the teleport there is a cave in the mountain. The cave with the waterfalls has a hidden path on the left which leads to a key

After you have collected 8 modules, go through the 8 module door (north of teleporter follow around to the east and south). Follow the path until you get here where you will activate an invisible button where CourtJester is standing, dash to the invisible platform in the east, then follow it around past through a secret wall passage to the east, hit the pillar and collect the key:

Eastern Area - Key

Key #1

All the way north from the eastern teleporter. Just before the path turns west there is a switch hiding to the east.

Western Area - Key

Key #1

From the Western Teleporter, go north and take the underground elevator. Go down past the turrets and disappearing floor until you come into this room here.Once you are here, shoot the pillar with the laser-sighted rifle to open the way to the key (laser-sighted rifle is from the Northern boss - Thank you Lord Retarded Brick)
The key is in the room to the west. Cross to the other side and go through the secret passage to the western room which is a little below the pillar you shot. When you go in there, rifle enemy will spawn back in the eastern room, use the button thing then go south to get the key.

Key #2

Once you get to this bridge you can find a secret path to go down which leads to a key. The way to this key is not easy though, there are many crystal spiketraps and you need to multidash to get the key.

Key #3

This door is located in the area with buildings & many samurai enemy and is located not far before the boss. Opening the key door will get you here:
Press the button to open the way to get into this room:
Once you are here just go through the hole in the wall to find another key

Key #4

From the Western Teleporter, go west past the crystal spiketrap, not far west until you find this statue here (where the crystal spiders are coming from):

Southern Area - Key

Key #1

(only once you have killed the boss). Go south from the starter town and as soon as you enter the South area follow as indicated:
Shoot the barrel and try not to blow yourself up. There is a key and a gear bit here.

Key #2

This path will only be possible once you have killed the boss with the throwable spinny blade. Then from the Southern Teleporter Station, head west then north, go up the stairs and take the elevator down. Follow along the path to the RIGHT. NOT downwards, keep following it past the area with Rifled Enemy and take the elevator at the far west wall. You will end up here:

The provided path is fair only after you beat the Reaper Boss.

I suppose this path since its faster if you using guide during walkthrough:

From the southern teleport head to the East elevator. Then take path to the down. Eventually you'll get to the elevator as seen at the screenshot, right before the Reaper Boss guy.
I was able to take it before I beat him by dashing at the wall.

Key #3

Take the elevator from the south-west part, then open up the 1-module door. Go through the almost every room, but after the "battle room" ( with turrets and a huge inactive robot in the center and a lot of foes spam everywhere), you will reach a room with (button) and platform. Push the first one, but don"t push the second one. Instead, dash to the top, and you will reach a new platform with a Gear Bit. There is another button on the right, push it and go top.

Key #4

From Souther teleporter take the North East elevator. Sorry, lost the rest of the directions :S

Take the elevator from the south-west part, then go down and take the stairs in the right side and go forward, until you find the room with pillars that you can see in the screenshot that is attached.

Unlock the Starter Area - 3 Gears Bits 1 Key

To get back to the tutorial area, go to the Northen Teleporter station. Go north then go around to the West then down the stairs, keep going south until you get here then dash across:
You will get a Gear Bit to the immediate South on your way to the starter area if you destroy the skeleton. Lots of stairs.

If you follow the path all the way you will eventually get to a hall which has a gear bit and a key in the top left corner:


After you take the teleporter in the hall, there is another Gear Bit outside the exit. You will be back in town. You can now take the teleporter to go back to the hall anytime to see your progress.

Thank you for all the comments. I'll (Conditional Love) try to include your information in the guide with your instruction & picture with a message thanking you. When giving directions it is best if you start with a place that is easy to find and mentioning any significant thing you go past:

Start from XXXX Teleporter, go south past YYYY, turn ZZZZ when you get to AAAA. The room looks like BBBB (see screenshot of the room). The (Key/Gear Bit) is hidden in the CCCC corner of the room.

Not to seem rude, but you should really take screenshots of the map and put markers where you're talking about. I have to guess where you mean based on just your description and screenshots.
