How to create a Server
By Osaris Games
Hello everybody,

This guide will help you create a server for Alchemist's Awakening. Please note that in a future update, it won't be necessary to use this method just to play with friends as there will be a option to simply invite friend to your world. In the meantime, here is how servers work:

Installing and running
Right now, the server is bundled with the game, so you need to install the game on the computer that will run the server. In the future, there will also be a separate package available.

On Windows
You'll need to make sure that Java is installed to be able to run a server.
Install the game using Steam.
Go to the Steam folder of the game, you'll find a file named server_start.cmd, simply run it. Do not close the console yet.
Note: if you host the server on your own PC, you'll have to open the ports listed in the "Configuration" section below, or to use a virtual LAN with softwares like Hamachi.

On Linux
You'll need to make sure that Java is installed to be able to run a server.
Install the game using Steam, or install the game using SteamCMD. To do that, follow the instructions here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD and install package 449740, using the anonymous Steam account for the installation.
Go to the Steam folder of the game, you'll find a file named start.sh, simply run it. Do not close the console yet.

Managing
Launch the game and connect to the server by entering the server IP. If you run the server on the same computer than the game, use 127.0.0.1 as IP.
When your are connected, go back to the server console and type: op [YOUR NAME]
This will make it possible for you to manage the server with these commands from the game:
/stop stops the server
/gm 1 changes your game mode to creative
/tp PLAYER teleports you to PLAYER
/ban PLAYER bans PLAYER from your server
/kick PLAYER kicks PLAYER from your server

Configuration
By default, the server runs on ports TCP 25952, UDP 25953, UDP 25954 and UDP 25955.
You can change this by editing the file server.properties in the game folder and setting port=25952 to something else.
Please note that the 3 subsequent port will also be used.
When connecting to a server, if the base port is not 25952, you'll need to enter the port along with the ip: example.com:25634 for example.

Please use the "Servers" section of the community forums if you have any questions. Feel free to list your server there.

I get the same thing as Gnatsum39. I use the "server_start.cmd" and the dos window comes up and starts my server just fine, but when i then launch the game (from the same computer as the server) i choose "online servers" and i can see my server, 127.0.0.1:25952, just fine and I can pick it and enter that game. However, other folks can apparently NOT see it listed in "online servers". it's running. i can enter it from that multiplayer list. i can set myself as the "op" just fine and i can enter various commands, including changing from gm 0 to gm 1 and back, but nobody else can see the server listed in "online servers". so, what do i need to do to get others to be able to see it?

Is this even possible to do? I have setup as shown above on my server machine but when I change the IP in the config file from 127.0.0.1 to my public facing it will not start. If I leave it 127.0.0.1 it seems to start but I will be damned if I can see it from my other pc nor my friends. This guide seems very simple yet after 2 hrs of trying I cannot get it working locally let alone so my frineds can see it online. I have forwarded all ports listed in this guid on both my firewall on the server and on my router so I am stumped. Really would love to play this with my friends and have it online when I am not home for them to enjoy., Please help :)
