How to defeat the helicopter

Stop running from heli's and become a attack chopper hunter.

Why waste resources building rockets/c4/ammo when the heli will deliver it all.

This is a step by step instruction in how to gear/attack for your group to take down helis.

1. Attacking the chopper

When shooting the heli aim for the routers, thats the back or top blades that spin. If the heli is moveing aim before the heli and watch your bullets and listen for hit marks, Your going to need to adjust your leed due to his speed and distance. It will take many shots, so dont give up! You will see an explosen and debree falling when you make a hit on ethier roter. You will hear hit markers for any hit on the heli.

2. Equipment

Your going to need to be semi geared to take down a heli.

Guns

• Bolt Action rifle, its alittle slow but the most ammo friendly way of shooting down a heli, i often use the 4x zoom to hit it from a far to lure the heli over.
  
• M249, My heli slayer of choice, but you need to get one from a heli so this is more of a end game option, but iv been able to down helis in under 150 556 rounds with mostly spray in under 2 mins solo.
  
• Ak47, The average weapon, single shot or sprays as the heli pass's over is a great way to do constant damage or burst damage with a quick reload.
  
• Semi-Auto, it fires quick with small clips but in a close-medium range I seem to be able to down helis with it fairly good for a cheap price of makeing a gun.
  
• All other guns work, but are ethier slow, require the heli to be to close or dont impress me and i think there a waste of time. Rockets i found are to slow with bad aim and even a few direct hits are not gonna do the damage i could do with a good high powered gun in about the same time.

Healing

• Bandages, Have a ♥♥♥♥ load on you, stopping the bleeding is the most important and then you can heal yourself other ways.
  
• syringes, I prefer these over med kits as there quicker and i can pop a few with a cheap cost.
  
• Med Kits, A med kit heals you for 100% of your health, but there slow so i dont often carry these, but if you have them pop one and hope not to get shot. To expensive for there use

Armor
This should be ovboius but wear the best armor you got my preference is

• Metal face mask
  
• Metal Chest peice
  
• Road sign kilt

3. Building w/ Group

Building is the most important part of takeing down choppers (imo)

The idea here is to stop the heli from shooting missles, its pretty ovboius why

• Deystroy your base
  
• Deystroy your items
  
• Kills you and others

• Build 3 towers (4, 5, 6, doesnt matter 3 works)
  
• Place the towers more then 12 squares away from eachother, i prefer to build all 3 in a circle
  
• Tower size doesnt matter, but if you have a large group, build larger towers
  
• Make sure each tower has a tool cabnet and if over 6 stories make sure you have a second higher up.
  
• Place a few boxs and beds/sleeping bags just below the top floor.
  
• Windows/doors i find very ineffective, I prefer an open area i can pop out and shoot and perhaps a overhead cieling i can duck under, open top floors work well as you can fight from the stairs and have a larger view.

3. Building Solo

If your playing solo this is hard, and often requires a friend.

Keep your towers small, build 1-3 small towers, hight does not matter as the heli will adjust to where you are.

Keep your towers 12 blocks apart
Have a tool cabnet in each tower
Second floor to top have large boxs and beds or sleeping bags
Find a trustworthy friend

towers can be very small, but give yourself enough room at the top that you can atleast pop out a door/stair and have a surface to be on.

4. Auth: the secret to survival

The heli follows certain laws

• If you have building access it will rocket you, napalm, 2x m249 machine guns, it will do damage
  
• If you have building blocked it will just shoot its machine guns
  
• If NOBODY is authed and you have building blocked, it will fire all its weapons
  
• If your in the world and have nothing around it will go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on you

These laws exist becuase
I could just run into a nighbours base and use the helis rockets to deystroy/raid it

How to bend these laws

• Have a friend/teammate auth or your tower, and you de-auth on your own tower.
  
• Auth your friends tower, and have him de-auth on his own tower
  
• Rinse and repeat for each Tower

This way whatever tower your fighting in, is building blocked and you receave the lesser of the evils, just 2x m249's to light your sorry ass up

If your a solo player, find that friend i told you about someone you trust, let them in your tower, let them auth, then you de-auth and they leave.


Never clear a toolbox, if you clear it nobody is authed and the heli will fire rockets until your burn along with your gear box's sleeping bags and body.

5. How to attack?

Given you have proper auth on your towers, lets say you have 3 towers and you and 2 friends are up in each tower shooting at the heli, you have hit it and its now returning fire.

• 
  
• Hit the heli to get its attention, dont let anyone steal your heli
  
• Let the heli unload both m249's
  
• When it stops fireing pop out and shoot as much as you can, you have 3-5 seconds
  
• If the heli is after a friend you have more time, fire and hit the rotors
  
• The 2x m249 can attack seperate targets, watch out this is were i like 3 as a magic number
  
• When the heli smokes your doing something right, keeping shooting the rotor
  
• The heli is now on fire, this is good but dont give up, shoot the heli
  
• Try to get the last few hits around your base/inside your compound or somewhere you can access the loot.

The long and the short

When it fires hide, when it stops shoot

You will get hit (more then likely) so bandage when its shooting and prepare to attack again

6. Spoils of war (loot)

The heli will crash, it will drop 4 loot crates

They can contain

• c4
  
• rockets
  
• ammo
  
• weapons
  
• blueprints
  
• attachments

Iv gotten utpo 1250 556 ammo in a drop once, which helps takeing on all the helis

tip** drag a single item like a rifle or hatchet to a stack of 250 ammo so you take the entire stack and dont have to split it up multiple times.

• must wait out the crate fires, this takes a few mins you will see the fires get smaller
  
• wait for all fires to go out and a few mins after that all heli parts become a pick axe's task, hit each metal part to get even more resources.
  
• Always gaurd your loot as this gives time for rivals to come take the heli you worked hard to shoot down.

So would a viable tactic for downing the helli be to use monnumments for cover seeing how they are indestructable. For example use the port's buildings because there is no radiation (that way you can wear armor without dealing with rad poisoning) to take cover from rocket salvo's and MG fire, while poping out take shots at the helo.
