Profile Picture

Tip 1. Have a decent profile picture

The steam avatars are pretty bad so I would recommend using ‘steamavatars’ on tumblr. I know tumblr is pretty cancerous but they upload some pretty decent avatars. If you don't want an avatar like that you can always google photos or use one of your own.

Steam Level

I personally have a fairly high level on steam, but that doesn't mean you have to. I would recommend being at least level 30 as this gives you enough reputation to be taken seriously as some people think that low level steam accounts are less trustworthy, which in some cases they are. Having a higher steam level means you can add showcases to your account, every 10 levels earned will result in one more showcase. This will allow you to put screenshot, artwork and info box showcases on your profile.

This does not mean that higher leveled accounts will NOT scam you. Anyone can scam you, higher leveled players are less likely to.

Background

Tip 2. Have a good background.

You can get backgrounds by either purchasing them off the community market or trading them. You can also gain backgrounds by crafting badges for particular games. Try and match the background to the profile picture if you can, going for a simple colour scheme will help make it look better.

I would recommend staying away from the CS:GO backgrounds as they look pretty bad

Showcases

Custom info box

This is where you can write general info or whatever you want you can also put some cool emoticon art or maybe text art if you want, most people usually put general information such as name, games they like and their PC spec.

Here are some examples. You can either fill the text will information or use it to make text art.
If you want to make text art you will need to purchase emoticons or use the steam default ones.

You do this by typing its format E:G - :PlayMusic:

Artwork and Screenshot showcases

This is where you can upload a picture like a photograph of your setup or artwork you have seen online. Generally using higher quality images such as a .PNG will look better but if you want to use the screenshot showcase make sure to use a .jpg as other formats does not work.

Send all the four customized artworks, you also can bind them to a game or not. After this, go to 　your profile and click in Edit Profile.
