How to change your server in Rainbow Six Siege

Are you lagging? Do you blame Ubisoft's terrible business practices and/or servers for your in-game misfortunes? Do you want to abuse ping?

If so, this guide is for you.

I even color-coded the screenshot highlights in each guide index so even young children could follow these instructions.

This is posted here specifically for convenience and assistance, as many people probably overlook this issue or don't know it's a problem. This can also be found on the Ubisoft support website.

Witness the Lag

Do you experience this while trying to find games or playing matchmaking?
There's a very simple solution.

Finding the Lag

What you want to do is go to Documents/My Games as seen in the screenshot below.
Once you're there, click on Rainbow Six - Siege
Open the folder and go to the GameSettings.cfg file, and scroll down to Data Centers.

Fixing the Lag (or increasing it)

Change the line "DataCenterHint=default" as to replace default with your desired data center.

If you're scared of messing anything up, look at the screenshots below for reference.

Finally, save the document, and have fun playing Rainbow Six with significantly reduced ping.

ok brotein i just didnt know why my comment was deleted and that got me mad cause i just give my opinion. i have no problem with ping or lags in this game and i use default data center. After picking the data center i just have bigger ping and lags, yes i do pick right one data center. Anyways i understand that for me that might not work and for others that could help. sry about being rude but i got mad that my comment was deleted. by the way its a good guide and i hope some ppl will find it helpfull.

I didn't delete any of the comments. If I did, it was on accident, and I wasn't aware of it. This guide has helped several people, and several personal friends, and it works far better than having a default data center for me. Assuming you know what your data center would be, I'm assuming your ping problems have to do with your background programs.
