Values in ( ) show the cap per character. Meaning that there is no point leveling a specialist past those values.

I'm assuming the negative number you're referring to is your wind resistance.
A lot of classes get one resistance at +50% and one at -50%. In this case I assume your character's wind resistance is -50% by default. With the aeronaut specialist equipped it should be higher than -50% but depending on the number of aeronaut specialists you have it may not be positive.

But Im confused. Like for example, why I have an aeronaut specialist equipped, but the displayed info says its a negative number? According to what Etna says in the help option, the positive number is the element resistance, not the negative. Right?

You can still have several stacks of 300 Statisticians spread over several items.

That is correct. Only the first 300 count.

Wait, if you have, for example, a Statistician 350 on an item, only the first 300 counts?

"Disgaea PC" (this game) and "Disgaea 1 Complete" (Switch & PS4) are different versions of the game.

The statistician changes listed in the patch notes for Disgaea 1 Complete are not present in the PC version.

I checked just to make sure by killing the same story mode enemy several times with 300%, 600% and (just as a sanity check) 0%. No difference in exp given for 300% and 600% (and 0% gave the expected 4 times less than the 300% amount.)

TL;DR max statistician effective stack is still 300% for the PC version

true, but I need to eat my last comment... I'm still fairly new and a video a watched had mentioned the patch change, but it still only stacks to 600.
I'm gonna get another stack and see if the effective stack is 300 and if it is 600 I will try and see if you can get an effective stack of 900 across the gear
