The new launcher doesn't like me & refuses to update, so for now I uploaded a new mod

Beyond Typus is a continuation of the popular map overhaul Beyond the Pale, by HR, merged with the considerably more accurate map projection from Typus Orbis Terrarum, by Bizarcasm, then modified heavily by myself, the Beyond the Pale's Legacy Team, and the many vital contributors who have submitted ideas, suggested improvements, and offered bugfixes over the project's lifetime.

Compatible with Europa Universalis IV version: 1.28

Beyond Typus is not compatible with Random New World, unfortunately.

Previews of a side project I'm working on: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5.5, #6, #7

Known Bugs, Issues, Problems, & Complaints
None, though the many new provinces & countries in addition to the improved graphics may cause increased lag on older machines.
There is currently no support for start dates after about 1444, I'm aware of this and working on it.

My Add-ons
Beyond Typus Terrain Overhaul - Integrated into BT proper as of 10.0, will likely be resplit soon.
Beyond Typus Miscellanea Addon
Beyond Typus Graphics Addon

Dub's Addons (Dub is heavily involved with BT & his work may be considered "official")
Byzantine Resurgence 2.1 & Unit Addon (requires BT's Misc Addon above)
Impactful Devastation & Prosperity
More Buildings (requires this compatch to work with BR & BTMisc)

Add-ons From Elsewhere in the Community
Always War Mod - by Procyon

Still for 11.0, not compatible with 11.5 yet
More Straits Addon - by JP
Balance of Power - by Procyon
Significant Political Colours (BT Edition) -by Reddbane

Please also see the Compatibility with Other Mods Thread for a number of other wonderful mods and side projects that are compatible with or based upon Beyond Typus.

Questions Which Seem To Be Frequently Asked
It doesn't work! What's up?
-Try the first entry in troubleshooting, here.

Don't all of these new provinces make X overpowered? Why is Y's development so high?
-Since BT 3.0, I have matched the total development under all independent nations with vanilla, and since 10.0, BT has had "development doubling". This is simply doubling all development everywhere while halving its effects, so 2 development in BT = 1 development in vanilla. For the 1444 start, all independent nations over 40 development (20 in vanilla) should have exactly the same total development as vanilla x2, with only a handful of intentional exceptions where I felt the original was in error (More details on those may be found here).

This mod is awful, why did you even bother?
-I made this mod for entirely for myself, then I figured: "Hey, maybe someone else would enjoy it." If you don't like it, please submit a comment below to the effect of: "Boooo" or "You stink!".

May I use something from Beyond Typus in my mod?
-Generally my policy is you may use my work, on the condition that I may use yours in return and you let me know. This mod is the result of work from over a dozen different people, however, so please remember to give proper credit where it is due (not just to me, but to everyone who has worked on Beyond Typus).

Quite Possibly, 'Fraid So 16 ENE 2017 a las 14:14
I think that, while the north would be an interesting prospect (the search for the northwest passage did see significant interest in the far north, so I can imagine a plausible AH with settlements as far north as was possible at the time), the Caribbean would be more sorely needed - a separate province for the Cayman Islands, 2 provinces for Saint Martin (which was split in 1648 between French and Dutch ownership) etc. I suppose it depends on what Paradox do with the region really.

I'm not sure I see the necessity in more arctic province than there already are (Then again having more ports in colonial Northwest Territories would be nice). Also whenever a nation rules enough provinces near the wasteland it shows it to be claimed by that power, so I don't think provinces are needed to compensate for that. And the arctic ones are the least desirable to colonize, as they should be (although ivory and fur are nice resources).

Personally I hope you fill up the Caribbean with some tasty provinces as it was a pretty contested battleground for many colonial powers. There are so many interesting islands besides the obvious ones too (like San Andres, a fairly miniscule isle yet had/still has a fairly respectable population for an island it's size)

Sounds great.

Concerning NA: To me personally it would seem too much to open it up. I might see potential in provinces comparable to Arguin meaning small, colonizable, but cut off port colonies that are hard to obtain (with harsh climate and natives). Just a big 'maybe' though.

@Everyone

Alright, the primary focus of BT 5.0 is pretty much decided at this point, for those who are curious. 5.0 will focus on filling in some more detail to previously overhauled areas (in North America), including new tags, events, decisions, et cetera. Map work will continue slowly as well, and depending on Paradox's 1.20 release date, the Caribbean may or may not be included.

I would love to get some community feedback on the far north. Does anyone have any thoughts to share on wastelands? Would opening up more of the north (North America) to colonisation be welcome, or completely unnecessary? Historically, these lands were claimed and explored, but never properly "settled" within our timeframe. They were inhabited by native (laregly Inuit) populations, however, and EU4-esque alternate history could make for some interesting dramas in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

If you feel like it, please leave your thoughts in suggestions or if it is short, in comments.

@deserk

Oh, I hadn't read that yet!

Oh, erm... I mean... Of course, I'm all knowing! =p
deserk 10 ENE 2017 a las 10:08
Looks like you were right not to focus efforts on reworking East Asia. Seems like that's the place that's going to be reworked significantly in the new EU4 patch. :)
NuntiusMortis 10 ENE 2017 a las 6:33
Sounds quite good. A very interesting repercussion of the changes in North America is that it makes it easier for Siberian tribes and Asian colonizers to reach the New World. I like to see non-European colonial competition in the area so that's certainly a plus :)
Draíocht  [autor] 9 ENE 2017 a las 13:58
@NuntiusMortis

Yes, eventually I plan to add some new native tags, events, decisions, custom ideas, and all that stuff. My initial plan was to first improve the most drastic obtrusivly lacking areas of the map, then circle back and fill in everything with more detail later.

The issue, of course, is when to stop the map work and circle back. More detail in the already overhauled areas is one of the 6 or 7 candidates for the main focus of BT 5.0, but I haven't decided yet.
NuntiusMortis 9 ENE 2017 a las 13:38
The changes in North America (a lot of new provinces, new trade nodes, altered trade pathing) seem huge about a native run. Are you planning on adding new native tags? Peharps something on Alaska or the Northwest Territories?

@Draiocht

Ah, that's fine.
