How to enter Hard Mode

You enter Hard Mode by going through the vent in the briefing room. You get there by jumping to it from the crates.

Coin locations in The Extraction

You have to find three coins in order to get a bonus rating.

The first coin of The Extraction is on the bed of the left pickup truck standing in the garage.


The second coin of The Extraction is behind the dumpster at the tank truck.


The third coin of The Extraction is in the right portable toilet. You come there after the tent area and before you enter the next building.
Unlike the other coins it is important to collect this coin when you first get there because its the only chance to acquire it.

First coin is in the room that you got in when you crouched through the vent after rescuing the hostage in The Extraction.


Second coin is in a building with a well lit door right that is facing the two switch rolling gate before after which you will meet two heavies.


Third coin is right under the room where you have to plug in your thumbstick.

First coin is in the small office room, just above the room with the tank. You will have to jump over the barrels or forklift to get there.


Second coin is on the catwalk right above where you have to plant the first bomb.


Third is outside of the complex behind a pile of steel beams.

FAQ

Why should I play hard mode?

You get a score bonus enabling you to reach a higher score (+25000).

Why should I collect the coins?

Coins give you a bonus for your score (+5000). They aren't needed for fulfilling the mission.

What other bonuses are there?

You get a bonus for playing with pistol only (+10000).
You also get a bonus for finishing the level without dying (+5000).
You will also get a higher score depending on how fast you fulfilled the mission (time left in seconds * 40), how high your bullet accuracy was (bullet accuracy/100 * 10000), how high your headshot percentage was (headshot percentage/100 * 10000) and how much damage you took (your score - damage taken * 10).

I completed the mission and still got no star. Why isn't the mission marked as fulfilled?

You can fulfill this mission by joining a friend's lobby and fulfilling the mission with him. It also does not matter who is carrying the hostage.

However, in order to make this count as a fulfillment for you you have to be able to start the mission yourself (= you have not exceeded your mission limit and you have cleared the path of the Gemini Campaign right to the Phoenix Compound mission).
Furthermore, if your friend is the one carrying the hostage he has to have the Operation himself. Otherwise the mission won't count.

If you followed these rules and it still does not work it might be a bug. Try starting the mission as the host / lobbyleader and carry the hostage yourself.

@3st I tried what you said, restart, I host, I carry hostage. I cleared everything to the Compound... IDK whats wrong!!
