Leaders Guide
This guide shall cover the basics of leading a line in Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars.
It will cover the basics from awareness, to general knowledge and understanding or leading.

Awareness
Number one thing to remember as a leader, is knowing your surroundings and monitoring enemy movement, you have to know who is where and if they are a threat or not.
When you are running, check your Spyglass every few seconds. (I tend to do this every 15-20). This help massively with knowing early, whether you are in danger or not.

Common Sense
This is a big factor when it comes to leading. If you see a line double your size, what do you do?
A: Charge them?
B: Move to a firing position?
C: Back off and look for help?

There are two possible answers to this. If you chose answer A, you are very wrong. Melee charges against double strength lines 95% of the time DO NOT work, unless you know your enemy really well and their abilities.
B and C are correct answers. If the enemy are looking away and they do not see you, B is the best answer, as you may be able to get close enough to even the playing field between the two companies.

Also, you need to know WHEN to charge, melee can be fun, but can also not be. It depends on how you play and if your men are VERY well trained, most melee fights should try to be avoided in most situations, unless you have no other choice. Charging must only be done if you have a large force, maybe double/triple the size of the enemies, or you are being charged and you have no time for reloads.

Use the enviroment
Using enviromental assets, (Hills, Ditches etc) is a huge leveler when it comes to leading a line. Most melee fights are better fought in the low ground, so if you can get your opponent to force an uphill attack, you will be on to a winner. Uphill melee is a pain in the ass, same as shooting, if you can force your opponent to shoot uphill, they have a disadvantage. A big one too.
Enviromental assets can also be used for moving undetected, or hiding from artillery while you fire.

Make sure your men can hear you
This one is fairly straight forward, but you must make sure you get a decent quality microphone., so orders are easily transmitted.

Do not blame your men for your mistakes
If you happen to lead your line into a death trap, DO NOT blame your men for not surviving, that was on you. You can't expect your men to remain loyal after lots of hate towards them. If you happen to get our line killed, apologise and explain how it was your fault.

Conclusion
I hope this guide as helped you to understand the basics of leading a line within 'Napoleonic Wars'. You MUST remember, the only way to TRULY get good is to practice, and gain hands-on experience.

Thanks for reading, Captain RedF0rest of the 46th.

Ok this might sound weird but the best way to learn to lead is to play Empire: Total War, Napoleon: Total War or Fall of the Samurai.

Only charge if they are Jaegars and Sharpshooters.

I was expecting something ironic and satirical, but this was a pleasant surprise.

Yeah, the whole know when to charge part, thats a pretty important part. It definitely makes not only the enemy team dislike you but also makes you very easily ridiculed and other lines might hate you if you are that line that literally never charges, and will even retreat when being charged by a line that is only a half of their size... it also will make the game a lot less fun, because sure, if you want to win as best as possible, then you would want to never get in melee, and always just shoot from a range. But where is the fun in that? No one wants to play a game if the game isn't fun, and shooting the whole round is pretty much about the same as just rolling dice and seeing who gets the highest number; the only place you would do that is if you were really, REALLY bored.

I would suggest you add a "Know WHEN to Charge" part :3

I just imagine after your charge fails, one of your members hears his doorbell, answers it and you beat him with a shoe. during a heavy thunderstorm too.
