От nldw
Feel like the Avatar Project is too quick/slow to complete? Follow these steps and increase it/decrease it to however long you want!

WARNING: ALWAYS BACKUP CONFIG FILES
If you don't back them up and you ♥♥♥♥ up implementing this, you'll have to verify your cache and will lose any changes you've made to this file.
Changing the length of the Avatar Project bar
First, navigate to your XCOM 2 steam folder (not the one located in My Games). The directory should be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config

Open the file called "DefaultGameData.ini", and hit CTRL+F. Type "AlienHeadquarters" and look for the line called "AlienHeadquarters_DoomStartValue".

Lines 1 and 2 of this paragraph edit your easy Avatar counter maximum and starting values. 3 and 4 edit normal; 5 and 6 are classic/commander. 7 and 8 will edit impossible. Startvalue is how high the counter is at the start of the game. Maxvalue is how high it can be before the mission timer starts. Editing these will edit how many bars there is for each; setting startvalue to 3 will mean that there is 3 bars at the start of the story. Setting maxvalue to 48 means that there will be 48 blocks on the Avatar Project progress bar. Once it reaches 48, the game-over mission timer starts.

Changing Blacksite removal amounts
Go to the DefaultGameData.ini file found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config. Open it and press CTRL+F.

Type in "BlacksiteMin" and navigate to the line called "BlacksiteMinDoomRemoval".

Like with the Avatar Project bar, 0 means easy, 1 means normal, 2 means classic/commander and 3 means impossible.
BlacksiteMinDoomRemoval is the minimum amount that will be taken off of the Avatar Project's counter when a Blacksite is destroyed. BlacksiteMaxDoomRemoval is the maximum amount that will be taken off.

So, setting BlacksiteMinDoomRemoval to 10 would mean that at least 10 counters would be taken off of the Avatar Project's counter, and setting BlacksiteMaxDoomRemoval to 50 would mean that, at most, 50 counters would be taken off of the Avatar Project counter.

I wish you could edit this option directly when creating a game. Good guide.

Alright. So no way to change its positioning. Thank you.

Not really working on an average run. I'm using the "Marathon Mode" mod where it can take ages to contact new regions, scan locations, and build facilities. I've been trying to mod the Avatar Project to work in a way that meshes well with a long campaign.

Not AFAIK, but IMO you shouldn't pass 24 in an average run if you are actively destroying blacksites and don't let dark events occur

When changing the number of blocks for the Avatar Project progress bar to be higher or lower than the default 12 is there a way to change the offset of the first block in the bar so that it can be properly centered?

As it is if you increase the number of blocks the first block is still in the same spot so any number beyond 24 for maxvalue will quickly have the bar going off the screen.

You wouldn't happen to know, and understand, the lines that determine how many and when facilities are created would you?

The "Avatar Project Reworked" mod which made the Alien HQ genereate nothing, but made facilities be created more often has been abandoned and I've been interesting for awhile in making my own version of it that would work well in conjunction with the "Marathon Mode" mods. I haven't had much like it figure out what exactly I need to be editing or looking for to pull it off though.

Typo in the second part of the guide. You say you need to edit " DefaultGameEngine" which does not exist. (at least not in my instalation.)

Thank you.
