Description
STATUS: 2022-05-24 - Looking into fixing:
-Unit Cap to avoid excessive AI (I don't care if it's OP for the player, practice self-restraing, you muddied rice farmers!);
-Generals not having abilities;
-Possible malfeasance practices from 'more soldiers' heroes not carrying their weapons and killing people with Ki alone;
-Some possible fix to the lack of sounds when heroes fight (the major reason I've abandoned the game >6 years ago).

For a quick check, verify the date on the last update on the right-hand side of the page, (last updated 2016 is the mod as always, anything newer means I've updated it, and might be sleeping it off before updating the description).



(psst, if you're looking for the changelog, read the change notes on the right side of the window, much better than keeping that stuff in the post where it takes a lot of space, gods I love steam, although there's no more privacy)

Welp, hello there, baka gaijin.

After much, much postponing, ado, laziness and sheer lack of will, I therefore release mine own hero mod for Shogun 2.

Yes, it's not much to look at, the cards are all crappily made and it's clearly an amateurish hackjob at modding, but hey, at least someone did it, eh?

WHAT DIS DO?
Good of you to ask, fine young player. Indeed, what does it do? What does anything do, really? What do WE do? Why ARE we here? To do what? To do what bidding? At whose will? Well, simple questions to ask, simple to answer... but are they easy to answer? Why, I think not. Easy and simple are completely and utterly two different concepts. I should know, I have a degree on this. Yes, I am a man of letters, literally.
But I digress, It is my belief that thy line of questioning referred to what this specific mod does in the game and what purpose it serves/has and why in the seven hells you should waste your time reading this and clicking the subscribe button. I'll tell you that. In a moment.




The moment has come: it adds my hero units to your game.

Simple as that.

WHAT R DIS?
Well, I am quite glad you took the time to inquire about this. The mod does add 4 semi-tiers of heroes to the play. What are they? Single-soldier units that survive very impressive odds (I really do not know when they die on meelee conflictuous situations).

Tier 1 - The named heroes. My personal... somewhat, heroes. I named them after whatever came to my mind. They are slightly more powerful than the other heroes. --- You can only recruit one of them at a time (and so do your enemies)

Tier 2 - Ronins - not well dressed heroes
Tier 3 - Samurai - Samurai heroes, usually heavily armored (purely cosmetic)
Tier 4 - Loan sword - a mix, some have flamboyant clothing, others are more modest (again, purely cosmetic)
(You can recruit 3 of each at a time, and so do your enemies)

General - the best hero you can hire, and acts as a general (skills and stuff, I believe) --- You can have 4 at a time.

It was made for shogun 2 original campaign, all factions should be able to recruit them, so it may provide interesting duels during your epic glory conquests and shamefur dispurays.

If, for some reason, they never die, at all, tell me and I'll nerf the stats.
Should you also find any other bugs, please report. But it SHOULD be fully functional.

@mono olho. Hi, I think you can work around the excess amount of heroes problem by making them really expensive. I edited the heroes making them very expensive so that it is very rare to see them.

hey did you find a reason for the multi number of heros not carrying a weapon as i had fixed that in my modded version but now as of today its back and i have no idea what changed as i dont recall a patch for ages that altered the units to any extent to cause this sort of glitch

AI actually don't recruit them that often. You might only see 2 or 3 at the most per army. Unlike me, killing the game with only hero units.

After a mild hiatus of half a dozen years, I have come back. Will try to cap the units, especially for the AI, I was sure I did that before, might have been only Attila heroes. Sorry about that.
Any bugs you got, might as well let me know now.

Looking into right now:

Too op. Basically you just build stacks after stacks of hero only units lol. need number cap or very expensive to fix this

Is it possible to limit the ai to hire 3 heros per army, most times im making an army of pure guns and arrows to beat the ai who spam the cheap good heros

how did u manage to get general be by himself? I tried tweeking the files setting general bodyguard to 1 but in-game it would still be 40...

OmIzU It is a well known bug in shogun 2, somehow, when adding units to the game, the sounds get awkward, like archers firing musket sounds. It is one of the reasons I stopped modding the game.
