usually i max using Ranger, getting a good offense-focused balance since i prefer tactics and skill over pure stat power and sponginess.
but for my pawn im conflicted. i want to run a pure support/debilitate build and there are a lot of ways to go about that since matk isnt as important.
in any case, thanks for helping give me ideas.
The point of matching pawn's Attack and MAttack is to make him/her able to switch between melee and caster roles without hindering much power.
If you decided that your pawn won’t need Attack ever, then I’d say go for the All-Rounder (Magick) route.
I'm paranoid like that.
I'm restarting a new game with new characters btw.
Both of your links are blank, but I guess you went the high-atk-low-matk route.
Let me put it this way, there are Ghosts that are immune to pure atk based attacks and also Metal Golem discs that are immune to pure matk based spells/attacks. So if you intend to play as an atk only Arisen, best to have a mage pawn with holy boon or get a magic weapon.
A reminder, for basic attacks, 1 base atk ≈ 1 damage so long as you break the target’s “physical” damage threshold.
However I'm wanting to do more of a glass cannon type of playthrough since I'm quite good at not getting hit all that much I used to play alot of dark souls and Monster Hunter and I'm just curious to see how fast and how much damage I could actually output with high atk stats.
Stat growth is determined by Vocation, so if you want to have a “balanced” build which is able to switch to other Vocation without hindering its potency, you need to change Vocation during the 190 levels.
For example, Strider @ Lv1-10 > Assassin @ Lv10-200. Your character’s final stats will end up with Attach at 937 and Magick at 277, you will have no choice but playing it as a melee character.
If you still want to have a “balanced” build but do not want to switch too often, then I suggest you start to play Assassin @ Lv17-95 > Sorcerer Lv 96-200, like this (assuming you are still a level 16 Strider):

And for your main pawn, you can still manage a “balanced” build by Warrior @ Lv17-110 > Sorcerer Lv 111-200.

Not ideal, but they shall serve their purposes.
