Editing Keys in the Config file
By Rokuma
Quick instructions to editing unlisted keybindings in DDDA. Keycodes included.

This is my first guide so the layout probably looks pretty crappy.
If I've left out information, please mention it.

Locating the Config file.
The config file is located in:
C:\Users\USERNAME HERE\Appdata\Local\Capcom\Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen

A quick way to access this without adjusting settings is to pull up the Run dialogue (Windows button+R) and type the above in, replacing "USERNAME HERE" with the username for your computer. (near the top right when you open the start menu in Win 7)
Editing the Config file
BEFORE GOING FURTHER MAKE A COPY OF YOUR CONFIG FILE.
What I generally do is copy it with the exact same name and add ".backup" at the end so that it looks like "Config.ini.backup".

This won't be touched, and all you have to do is make a new copy, remove the .backup, and overwrite. This helps to avoid mistyping when you rename in case of problems.

Change the number following the "=" for the control you want to change (listed in next section).
When finished save and close.

I Highly recommend setting the file to read only.
To set the file as read only:
  1. Right click on config.ini
  2. Click properties
  3. Click the checkbox next to "read only" at the bottom.
  4. Click OK

Hey, nice job in here. Still, I'd like to mention that someone just pointed out to me the lack of explanation for actions within .ini. Technically this can be dealt with trial-error approach, still some list with descriptions would be nice.

This is cool for those who prefer keyboard and mouse controls. But I prefer gamepad. Has anyone done something similar for the XBox360 controller? I tried playing today (after a VERY long break) and now all of my gamepad controls are messed up; doesn't "stick" when I ACCEPT the controller options changes in game. And half of the buttons have two functions apparently; such as when I click left stick it opens my inventory - then I have to hit X to close the inventory and then I start running. It was working PERFECTLY before the last update (except the button prompts were generic)... don't know what they changed but it messed up my controls pretty bad.

Not using this, L SHIFT seems to not be allowed to be the SECONDARY SKILL SELECTOR which by default is ALT or CTRL (sorry forget which). By using this method, can L SHIFT be made the key which brings up the SECONDARY WEAPON SKILL MENU ?

Correct, Consumables and the lantern are the only things you can bind to the quick slots.

I did find it strange the ferrystone wasn't an option, but it's likely due to the need to pick a location afterwards.

Thanks I noticed that last night...I also noted the problem when it reaches half-full.

And there doesn't seem to be a way to bind the ferrystone for some reason.

@ppaladin123 You can actually bind the number keys 1-4 to your lantern...sadly the binding doesn't stick when it changes full/half/empty state... EG If you set it to 1 while full you will be able to toggle it on and off till it reaches half. If you then fill it up you can toggle it again.

The map button I wanted too. They missed a lot of standard keybindings and other things.
