PC is the only platform that can do it but its weird how you do it, I figured it out due to frustration of the swap glitch that gave me the wrong class. Level carries over however you might have to exit and come back into the game.

I cannot 100% confirm this so please continue at your own caution.

I am not liable for levels lost.

Here is what you do

1. Turn off Steam Cloud Sync, otherwise the cloud will just load your old save back into the files and it'll get confusing. You can turn it on after it's done.
2. Back up everything in the remote folder, even the TPP GAME DATA file and put it all somewhere safe.
3. When you exit MGO make sure your on the character that you want to change is selected
4. In the Game Options make sure it starts the game with TPP instead of MGO
5 Restart the game and get to the TPP Menu
6. Go into the TPP Menu and select Delete Save
7. Once the game has deleted the save close the game
8. Once that is done if you get the EULA Agreement to pop up it means you are on the right track
9. Once you are in the menu you hit MGO, if you're seeing the prologue cutscenes after accepting the EULA, you need to back out completely then copy your old save back and replace anything it asks to do then launch the game and go on MGO, like it says.
10. Get back to the TPP's menu in the chopper (Where you should be if you copied your save correctly), go on MGO, choose your class
11. Then you are able to pick class, WAIT for the class' uniform colour to change before you finalise. Make sure to see the characters uniform changes colors if not then keep playing with menus.
12. If you get wrong class repeat until it works properly, once the tutorial is done you should see yourself as level 1 and your desired class.
13. Accept your class and go back to TPP just to be safe, then quit the game again, reload it and go back on MGO, this'll get your levels back.

If your save doesn't work then try this one (LINK DEAD FIND DIFFERENT MGS5 SAVE) because it worked for me

This will be different weapons, FOB, etc so if you care about FOB'S and Singleplayer stuff then do not use the save!

This situation took me about 30 minutes to an hour but in the end I got what I wanted and my character maintained the level from the wrong class and got the gear options from my 2nd Character so i didnt have to grind for that stuff again for Infiltrator.

Thanks to Pex for updated information. Happy to help the community and trying to solve some issues with this game.

Why do you have the wrong class when you get two more slots for the other two classes? It doesn't matter what you pick.

Works like a charm, you forgot you put in where to find save file, and my dumb ass just annihilated the whole game progress I had, but at least it works in 2020. If anyone got issues just go to userdata in steam and folder named 311340

@RAB1ZNAZ This guide is very basic and if you cant understand the wording has worked for others. I didn't want to have it be this very long or overbearing thing. I assume you have the ability to google how to use Steam Cloud and other items. In your posts you said the EULA wasn't showing up which means that you have fucked up and that the 9,10,11 steps cannot be done. I have not tested this guide in a very long time so it may be broken that is for others to decide who got it working last time since I have stopped playing the game at this point.

I am just very frustrated with this guide. Most of the people here tell it's working but I haven't managed to make it work since the guide isn't just accurate enough so I hope you could clear sections where I have wrote that they are very confusing.

8. Get back to the TPP's menu in the chopper (Where you should be if you copied your save correctly), go on MGO, choose your class
(After I have copied my old saves back it hasn't reseted my MGO files so I could change my avatar class. But I am really confused by this guide at this point again.)

9. Then you are able to pick class, WAIT for the class' uniform colour to change before you finalise. Make sure to see the characters uniform changes colors if not then keep playing with menus.
10. If you get wrong class repeat until it works properly, once the tutorial is done you should see yourself as level 1 and your desired class.
11. Accept your class and go back to TPP just to be safe, then quit the game again, reload it and go back on MGO, this'll get your levels back.

(These 9. 10. 11. sections I can't tell are they right or wrong since I can't get there with this guide since it isn't accurate enough with phases in sections.

7. Once you are in the menu you hit MGO, if you're seeing the prologue cutscenes after accepting the EULA, you need to back out completely then copy your old save back and replace anything it asks to do then launch the game and go on MGO, like it says.

(I see only EULA and prologues scenes if I don't put saves back in section 5 during this guide. So I am doing something wrong at here if I am supposed to see EULA and PROLOGUE.

Also "you need to back out completely then copy your old save back and replace anything it asks to do then launch the game and go on MGO, like it says"

I have no idea what do you mean by this now! In section 5 you already told to put my save back and by my "save" you mean the original old save that I am trying to change with this guide. And by "you need to back out completely" you mean what? Alt+F4 during PROLOGUE cutscene? Playing through PROLOGUE and exiting after thar or what?

5. Then once the game closes put your save back into the TPP Folder.

(Which save files do you mean here? All of them? If I put now both 311340 and 287700 back where they should be it doesn't change anything in the game, well I ain't at least getting your EULA message which you are talking in next section.)

6. Once that is done if you get the EULA Agreement to pop up it means you are on the right track

(Nope. Game starts same as it was before I started doing this guide. With all my TPP and MGO data same as before.)

2. Back up everything in the remote folder, even the TPP GAME DATA file and put it all somewhere safe.

(Remote folder? Do you mean folders under Steam/userdata/xxxxxxxx/ folders 311340 and 287700 or other folders in somewhere else?)

2. When you exit MGO make sure your on the character that you want to change in Freeplay

(I want to change my avatar char class so I choose him okay this seems to be quite clear this time. Note there is two section 2. in this guide)

3.In the Game Options make sure it starts the game with TPP instead of MGO

(Usually game starts automaticly in TPP so I don't believe this section concerns so many people usually unless you have changed it so that TPP starts in MGO.)

4. In the TPP Menu Hit the delete save

(Okay I click DELETE SAVE in TPP menu and my files disapear in folders 287700 and 311340 under Steam/userdata/xxxxxxxx/ so I guess I did something right.)

Is this method still working since I am not getting it to work. I might have some problems to understand which save folder you are talking in this guide since there is two folders TPP is using 287700 and 311340 both include MGO files that are connectod each other.

Guide could be more accurate also that people would actually know what to do precisely. For example:

1. Turn off Steam Cloud Sync, otherwise the cloud will just load your old save back into the files and it'll get confusing. You can turn it on after it's done.

(Turn it off where! Under game properties - update section - turn off Steam Cloud Sync box. Is this what you meant? And turn back on when? After I have gone through this guide or what?
