How to: Lower foundations to match height of platform or raft
Készítő: WebGremlin
In this guide I'll demonstrate how you can lower the height of your foundations so that they're at the same level as the actual base of the platform or raft you're building on. This saves on the structure limit, and allows for easy mounting and inventory access to your Bronto / Quetzal / Paracer.

Preparation
You'll need to build and demolish several structures and repeat this process to get to the desired height. Have at least 3 foundations, 6 pillars, and 6 ceilings to work with. From there, you can start building your platform. The structures you place can be upgraded to a higher tier later on, so you don't need to waste expensive resources on things you are going to demolish.
Step 0.5 (raft only): Align your first structure to exactly the middle
When you mount a raft, your x and y axis will 'reset' to exactly the middle. Don't touch your mouse when you press E to ride, and place your first structure. This might take one or two tries before it'll actually let you place it.
Step 1: Place a pillar
Place a pillar. This, and the next ones, will be temporary structures so we can 'nudge' the foundation down bit by bit for every time we repeat the process. When placing this pillar it is important to keep in mind where you want the final foundation to be. As you can see at the end of this guide and the video, I placed the pillar slighty too far forward, causing a gap between the raft and my foundations.

Place a pillar

Keep your desired end-result in mind so you don't end up with a gap like this.
Step 2: Place ceilings
Place two ceilings on the pillar you just placed.
Step 3: Place another pillar
Place another pillar down from the second ceiling.
Step 4: Place a foundation
Place a foundation below the last pillar you placed.
Step 5: Demolish & repeat
Demolish all but the last foundation you placed. From that foundation, repeat the steps above: Place a pillar on it, two ceilings, another pillar, and finally a foundation below it.

Demolish all structures but the foundation.

Repeat the process from that foundation.

This is where the magic happens: When you place the foundation of the repeated process, be sure that it snaps to just below the previous one.
Step 6: Keep on repeating
Repeat this process three or four more times, until you are comfortable with the height of your foundation. From there, you can start expanding and upgrading.

Repeating the process a few times more.

Expand / upgrade from here.

Still working on newest patch 240.6!! Thank-you so much I can now scoop up Pulmonoscorpians into 2 tanks either side of my boat!! Great for taming!! You do need to move them about a little to get them to go underneath but as long as you use wood or stronger it will definitely work!

cant edit? hmm?
yea it is just a guessing game, when foundations gets too low you have to guess correct space 2 foundations away and then hope they fit perfectly when you place the other two so you can continue with the floor

this is old, does not work anymore, foundation want to stick to ground, but on other places they are float, they do not stuck to pillar as before so you you place a big floor

Excellent tutorial. However! I seem to be experiencing the same issue when trying to add more foundations and the ceiling trick that is shown in the video is not working ... unless I need to use wood first and then upgrade to stone?

@Kraven Juelle: Place a ceiling first, then a foundation below it, then destroy the ceiling. The foundation will stick. You can see me do it in the video around 4:25. Hope that helps. :)

I can't seem to place 3 foundations together on a quetz platform. I can place the middle one, but the ones either side will not snap to it. it there a trick I am missing?

I just managed to do this :) I think you have to be careful when placing the foundation, to make sure that it doesn't snap to the height of the original foundation
