Cartwheel Strat
By Garfman
Nidhogg is a game that requires a lot of wits and thinking. Ew, thinking? That's lame. Just cartwheeling can make this game much easier!

How to Cartwheel
Cartwheeling is a feature in the game that can seem pointless at first sight, but can actually really help you in your fights. I came across it's usefulness by accident when playing with my friends. Anyways, cartwheeling is pretty simple, All you have to do is run without stopping while spamming your down key without holding it down. This makes the character begin a roll and then stop constantly while walking, which ends up looking like a cartwheel!
Using Cartwheeling in Combat
Cartwheeling might sound silly and useless, but it is actually very useful in singleplayer and multiplayer. It can be used for 3 major things:

1) KILL!
Cartwheel up to an enemy, and footsweep them. While they are down, kill them!

2) RUN AWAY!
Cartwheel past an enemy. That's it.

3) PICK UP WEAPONS!
Cartwheeling past weapons wlil automatically pick them up. This is useful because it saves time, and if a weapon is behind your enemy you can cartwheel past them and pick it up. If you normally walked into the enemy they would literally kill you by standing still. If you jumped, it still wouldn't be too hard to kill you.

As you can see, cartwheeling is very useful. But how does it work?
How it works
Cartwheeling works when fighting CPU or another person. It works when fighting a CPU because you are going up and down so much that they dont know if their sword should be raised or lowered to kill you. 99% of the time they keep it raised which lets you kill them. It works with multiplayer for the same reason, and because your opponent will be so confused as to what you are doing that they will be distracted and let you have your way.
Living Proof it Works
I managed to get a recording of me doing cartwheels to completely skip by an entire level in singleplayer, and I would've gotten the "PERFECT STRIDE" achievement but I already did. (by cartwheeling :P)

Plain old crouching won't work because the enemy will see you coming and lower their sword.

So, am I the only one having trouble with the videos?

So I'm fairly certain cartwheeling is an intentional part of the game and not something you made up. But it is definitely an incredibly useful technique.

Holy shit! Combine this with the Hogglike strategy guide , and it almost sounds like that achievement is pretty easy to obtain.
