You probably want to mic spam bcause you saw someone using le funny maymay songs over the mic or saw a GrifsPDA video but don't know how to mic spam like the pros becuase you only know how to use your Blue Yeti and iPhone. I'm here to help you past that awful stuff.

A Small Intro to Mic Spam (optional read)
Mic spamming (as far as this guide goes) is the act of playing music, audio clips, fan ficiton readings, annoying sounds, and any thing that causes pain to the human ear for one's entertainment or for others (sometimes people get a kick out of actual griefing). Many people know about mic spamming because of Youtube and the many videos like the Duke series of mic spams or GrifsPDA's escapades in the world of Team Fortress 2.

Mic spamming eventually became so popular people who wanted to join in the fun but were too go through downloads and audio drivers begged for different methods of easy mic spam access. That's where the amazing HLDJ came in, a program created JUST for mic spamming in Source engine related games such as Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, CS:S/CS 1.6 etc. until Valve added an update for server devs and other game funtionallity content which revoked the ability to use HLDJ on most servers on Team Fortess 2, CS:S, and Garry's Mod causing easy methods of mic spam to come to an end. A sad day indeed, until people came out with alternative methods that is.

Gathering the Materials
So now we want to gather our programs and software and files and file converters for our journey into the setup.

WinAMP: WinAMP is an amazing file player that can play just about any file you can think of (I reccomend it for general use when listening to music!). It has advanced options and a very customizable interface. Plus, you can make specific playlists for the types of stuff you want to mic spam! Quick and easy install. VB Virtual Audio Cable: Not much to say about this one, it's basically barebones VAC software used for nothing more as a universal audio driver. It's free and really nothing special, but it gets the job done without having to spill your wallet onto some expensive program just for mic spam use. I've been using it since 2013, and it works great. Just install it and you're off.

Youtube to MP3 (and other websites that can convert to MP3 for music sources like Soundcloud): We're basically going to need a efficient converter so we can get our music on the fly, so use something like http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ for some quick downloads off of Youtube for music you don't currently have (or some parody stuff like "Fresh Prince with a ♥♥♥♥ in my Butt")

Getting setup for the mic spam
Now comes some of the tricky stuff. Setting everything up.

AFTER YOU HAVE INSTALLED EVERYTHING PROPERLY AND HAVE IT UP AND RUNNING Open your WinAMP program and navigate to Options -> Prefences -> Plug-ins -> Output. Double Click on "Nullsoft Direct Sound Ouput" and a tinier window should pop up. Here, stay in the device tab and click on the drop down menu bar and click on "CABLE Input" then close the window. This for playback through the Virtual Audio Cable we had setup earlier.

After you set up WinAMP goto your Windows Playback Control Panel by right clicking your Speaker icon on your task bar and clicking on "Playback Devices."

In the control panel, you're going to just want to touch your main Stereo device (presumably) Realtek Hi-Def Audio and CABLE Input. Click on the "Recording tab" and search for "CABLE Input". Right click on on it and click on "Set as Default communication device" and leave it be after that. Go back to your "Playback" tab and make sure everything is in place, it should look like this.

Now that we have our device set ups complete, let's take a look at the Steam voice settings by going to your 'Friends' window. Click on 'Friends & Chat' in the lower right hand corner of the Steam window to bring up the 'Friends' window. From there, click the little gear icon near your name. This window should then pop up
In this window, you can now edit your voice settings. Click on the 'Voice input' box and a drop down menu of your voice settings should appear. Click on 'CABLE Output'. Your settings should automatically save from there. https://i.imgur.com/ZywKwwk.png

In-Game Mic Spamming
The time has finally come! Mic Spamming in game. First before we go spamming our funny maymay music and erotic Sonic the Hedgehog fanficitons (what) let's test it first.

Simply start a local server and choose any team/class. Next, go into console and type +voicerecord while the music in WinAMP is playing. Now type voice_loopback 1 so you can hear what it sounds like while spamming. If nothing comes through, you've done something wrong. If it works, go get'em tiger.

Now, don't be upset that SOME of your music might sound like ♥♥♥♥ over the mic. TF2 has a voice system used for ACTUAL voice communication, so don't choose stuff that's too loud or has a lot of bass too it or it's going to sound awful. Sometimes this is not the case, but if it doesn't sound good enough to play just don't play it.

Here's a quick video on me in demonstrating use in a local server:

End of the guide and some notes
Congrats! You have made it to the end of the guide.

-Now don't go arounnd ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with servers 24/7 or else you'll be banned/muted on a lot of servers. If you REALLLLLY want to go and be a stupid minge hop into a pub a server instead.

-Don't make it so people suffer while listening to your spam so much, and don't suffer to your own spam!

-Try and be creative with some of your spam, don't be lame and just spam over-spammed stuff and be so un-funny that the admins ban you for reason "Over spammed micspam".

NOW GO HAVE FUN!

I dunno, the WinAMP installation site looks pretty sketchy. I'm not taking any chances, so I'll try to use VLC.
