Getting Gregor Clegane’s Sword in ACOK 2.1

This is a short guide on getting what is arguably the best sword in the mod, without cheating.

The Steps

Step 1: make a character that has at least 12 strength.
Step 2: buy a decent shield.
Step 3: travel to Darry and find Clegane.
Step 4: talk to Clegane and you will discover he doesn’t like you. Ask for quests and complete them one after the other until he doesn’t hate you anymore (0 relation will do).
Step 5: offer to join his retinue. He will now take you on.



Step 6: accompany Clegane and his army and fight alongside him. Darry is near Riverland territory, so Gregor will get into many battles quite quickly, and they will usually be even or with Gregor accompanying the large Westerlands army, so xp most certainly can be earned.
Step 7: in every battle try to follow Clegane and keep an eye on him. He is a powerhouse and tough, but he can be defeated and will at times fall unconscious if overwhelmed. If he falls raise that shield and immediately get in there and pick up his excellent sword, which will be dropped and you will have the strength to wield it.
Step 8: finish the battle, and you will now keep Gregor Clegane’s sword. It is fantastic.

The Weapon

It has a lot going for it: very nice reach, excellent damage, a long thrust that can go through armour, crazy good speed and it is one-handed, so you can keep a shield up to protect you from archers. Once I got a hold of it, killing became a lot easier, and very enjoyable. Sieges were also delightful as you have this great reach weapon to drop on their heads, and you can easily kill multiple opponents at long spear range.

It has some cons though, due to its long range it is useless for close stabs as it can’t get the momentum. It needs a lot of room to use, and can be caught on opponents to the side. A close left-side cut is great for those pressing tightly, but the right-side swing can become caught on anything in the way of the swing. The overhead cut is lovely, especially for when going over a wall, but if you have your back to the wall it gets caught really easily on the wall behind you.

It is a great weapon, and if you repeat the steps, you can even pick up more of them. Yes, I do plan to have a whole group of retinue that all use Gregor’s great sword all one-handed.

Concluding Remarks

With this weapon, you can swiftly become a terror on the battlefield. As you continue to fight alongside Gregor Clegane you may also make a friend.

I also have the problem where his hand glitch and goes underground so I can't pickup his sword, happend with Randyl Tarly aswell. ver 2.2, Any solutions ?

Spent like 5 hours trying to get it, sadly the sword does not appear for me. I did get a lot of plated warhorses in the process though so yeay
