Got Lakes (Various Worlds) Map Script

설명
Got Lakes? Quench your thirst for exploration with this incredibly random map script! Choose from 18 landmasses, 13 climates, 6 mountain patterns, 7 extras, and 2 world wraps (global vs regional), or go completely random and surprise yourself with over 19,000 possible combinations!

--Map Options--

This map script supports the standard options (world age, sea level, temperature, rainfall, resources) as well as the options listed below.

Landmasses - shape your world's land and water (a shuffle of four options)
  • Continents
    • bagels
    • continents
    • fractal
    • small continents
  • Islands
    • archipelago
    • extras
    • island plates
    • large islands
    • tiny islands
  • Lakes
    • inland sea
    • inverted extras
    • lakes
    • large lakes
    • salt lakes
  • pangea
    • donut
    • maze
    • oval
    • pangea

Climates - customize terrain and features (a shuffle of four options)
  • Cold
    • evergreen
    • ice age cropped (icy poles excluded)
    • ice age full (includes large swathes of ice at the poles)
  • Temperate
    • arborea
    • normal
    • prairie
    • wetland
  • Tilted
    • tilted axis cropped (no icy northern hemisphere)
    • tilted axis full (includes icy northern hemisphere)
    • two suns
  • Warm
    • rainforest
    • sandstorm
    • sandy jungle

Mountain Patterns - customize mountain ranges
  • tectonic plates (normal mountain ranges)
  • fractal ranges (thin and snaky mountain ranges)
  • scattered crags (lots of tiny clumps)
  • clustered highlands (a few large clusters)
  • uncanny valleys (snaky but with more valleys)
  • winding canyons (lots of mountain ranges dominating the landscape)

Extras - additional islands/lakes(*) for your landmass
  • None: no extras, just leave the landmass alone
  • Chains: long, narrow chains (formerly called "Plus" extras)
  • Clusters: densly-packed clusters
  • Mini Donuts: variations of tiny donuts
  • Tectonic: guided by mountain ranges
  • Tectonic and Chains: a combo of tectonic and chains
  • Everything: all types of extras! -- now includes clusters!

(*)The Lakes and Inverted Extras landmasses will add extra lakes instead of islands.

World Wrap - whether the world is round or flat
  • Globe: wraps east/west and has north/south bands of latitude
  • Region: no world wrap, and no bands of latitude unless the climate is tilted

--Other Features--

  • All landmasses use the same map size which may be cropped depending on climate; Lakes, for example, is no longer two sizes smaller than other landmasses.
  • Supports BNW luxuries
  • Compatible with the More Luxuries mod!
  • Large Islands: now supports sea level, which affects the number of large islands on the map. The effect scales to map size.
  • Oval: Ice Age Cropped + Globe now crops the oval and raises sea level to compensate for the oval's size compared to the map; Tilted Axis Cropped + Globe also crops the oval, but does not raise sea level.
  • Ice Age: this climate lowers sea level for all landmass types; sea level reduction might not be noticeable if your sea level setting is already Low.
  • Frozen areas of the map are no longer completely covered in ice. Instead there are fractal-like clumps of ice so that more tiles on the map are reachable with scouts.
  • Better Civ Starts for Tilted Axis: global maps now have mixed terrain at the south (hot) pole; regional maps now have mixed terrain at both poles so that a start in solid snow, tundra, or desert is less likely.

--Acknowledgements--

Bob Thomas (Sirian), primary author of Civ 5's canonical map scripts and much of the map scripting API: your well-documented scripts turned out to be excellent starter code, much of which still exists in Got Lakes!

Shaun Seckman, Brian Wade, Ed Beach - authors/contributors of Oval, Fractal World and various parts of the map generator: your algorithms were powerful and yet modular and readable enough for mere mortals to understand. Some of your code exists in my script in the form of plot type (landmass) generation and various terrain/feature/start-plot (climate) overrides.

BlankCrayon, author of the Maze World map script: I made good use of your Stack class and GetAdjacentPlots() method.

@beta1966 probably not since I don't play Civ 5 anymore. I appreciate your interest, though.

will you still upgrade this mod?

Yea, from a gameplay perspective sure. My gripe was more about the aesthetic, like the feeling of the map but oh well :P.

@Metalsie if parts of the map are off limits, isn't that just wasted space? Might as well not even generate those parts of the map.

damn, I wish frozen areas of the map were still covered with ice. thats the area that's supposed to be off limits anyway.

Multiplayer seems to work. Great. Thanks :-)

Actually I'm not sure how to enable multiplayer through the MODS menu. However, there is a way to play GotLakes through the regular Multiplayer menu, at least for Hot Seat games.

Simply copy GotLakes.lua from the following folder:
Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Got Lakes Map Script (v 16)

to this one:
Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps

Then "Got Lakes?" should be selectable as a Map Type.

Awesome mapset! You said that it's possible to play this in Multiplayer. How do you do that? If I activate it in the Mod Section I can only play Singleplayer..

Thank you! As long as everyone has bnw then multiplayer should work. Let me know if you run into any issues.

This mapset really seems amazing. Does it also support multiplayer?
