This is not a guaranteed fix for everyone but it has worked for my friend and others. If attempting to follow the steps below and you find that you do not have the file mentioned in this guide in the first place then this is unfortunately not the fix for you.

This fix is only for users that use Razer products and have installed Razer Software (more specifically Razer Surround) on to their computers. One of the possible things causing Grand Theft Auto V to freeze is a Razer Software called Razer Surround. To fix the issue follow the steps below.

Simple Fix Steps
Step 1. Go to your task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+Delete > Task Manager) sort by name and check for a process called "RzSurroundVADStreamingService" or "RazerSurround VAD Streaming Service) and end it. (This is a temporary fix, further steps are a permanent fix)

Step 2. Open your Control Panel and click Uninstall a program.

Step 3. Sort by name to make things easier then find "Razer Surround" in your programs, right click, uninstall, and the freezing should be gone.

Step 4. Launch the game and get to playing!

Hope this fixes your issue that way you can get to playing the new update! :)
Advanced Fix Steps
Step 1. Go to your task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+Delete > Task Manager) sort by name to make it easier and search for a process called "RzSurroundVADStreamingService" or "RazerSurround VAD Streaming Service) and end it. (This is a temporary fix, further steps are a permanent fix)

Step 2. The folder that needs to be deleted is located in the ProgramData folder which is hidden by default. To show hidden files go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options > Click View tab > Under Advanced settings click show hidden files and folders, then click OK.

Step 3. Now you need to navigate your way to the drive where you have Razer installed and delete the folder of where the Razer Surround file is located at for example I had mine installed in C:\ProgramData\Razer\Synapse\Devices once you go over through devices there is a folder called "Razer Surround" delete that file and the freezing should be gone.

Step 4. Launch the game and get to playing!

Hope this fixes your issue that way you can get to playing the new update! :)

I don't see any process named that on Windows 10. I am using a Razor Chroma headset though and am obviously suffering from the same problem. Any windows 10 fix?
