What is Guardian Mode?

Guardian Mode is a beta game mode currently only accessible by using console commands. It is a wave survival gamemode where you (and possibly your friends) fight off wave after wave of bots. The general mission is to:

• Survive (obviously)
  
• Stop the hostages from being rescued
  
• Stop the bomb being planted

What's New?

There are 5 new maps specifically designed for Guardian. They are:

• gd_assault
  
• gd_bank
  
• gd_cbble
  
• gd_crashsite
  
• gd_lake

Also, any existing map works (de_mirage, cs_office etc.)

How Do I Get Guardian Mode?

These console commands can be used to access Guardian mode:

game_mode 0
game_type 4
map [any map]

If you want to play with friends, start a private Casual game and then input the console commands.

Rules and Restrictions

You start the game with no money and have to get kills to gain money. Also, you get a $400 bonus if you survive the wave.

You cannot stray too far away from the objective (bombsite or hostage) or you will take 10 damage every ~0.5 seconds.

After every wave, you are rewarded with 50 armour and health (so, if you die, you spawn with 50 armour and 50 health)

There is a 10 second interval between each wave, to give you time to buy weapons.

You cannot buy during a wave.

Also, there is an objective to complete (e.g. 15 kills with the SSG08). If you complete this objective, you automatically win the game.

What Happens When I Die?

If you are playing yourself:

You restart the game at round 1.

If you are playing with friends

If they survive, you will respawn at the start of the next wave.

The Bots

In the first wave, all bots are relatively easy to eliminate, and have pistols.

In the second wave, bots are a little bit more challenging, and they will have SMGs and shotguns.

In the third wave, and every wave onward, there is a mixed bag of weapons, and the occasional AWP.

In wave 4, you encounter your first "Ultra Bot", which has maxed out stats and the potential to one tap you from across the map, and by round 6, you will be up against 5 of them, which even the most experienced players could be challenged by.

My (admittedly not very good) Tips

In wave 2, buy a shotgun to maximise your economy and get good guns at the start.
Try to pick off each enemy one at a time.
Guard the bomb (when dropped) and the hostage
