alright, so, this addon is outdated and I made a new version get that one I guess idk.

This add - on does not mute the M60. The heavy machine gun. The ones used in the Mutation: Gib Fest.

I'm guessing it's for people who don't want to mute ingame sounds overall but find the gunfire annoying to hear voicechat over.

I can feel the same way, but I usually at best just use a mod to reduce the sounds' volume.
