Neutral/True Pacifist Hint-Through

This guide attempts to help you spare everything in a Neutral/True Pacifist Run without blatantly giving away solutions! If you need them, though, instructions on how to spare whatever you've come across are provided.

Please remember that you cannot get True Pacifist on your first runthrough, but avoiding killing anything will make achieving the True Pacifist ending much easier!

Also, I hate to pester you about this, but if you find this guide useful in any way, I encourage you to leave a rating so that other people can find this more easily!

Flowey

Follow instructions.
Get hit by one of his "friendliness pellets". He'll try to kill you, but Toriel ends the battle before his second attack lands.

Dummy

Say hi!
Talking to it will cause Toriel to end the battle. You can also make it get bored and leave by using the Spare command enough times.

Froggit

This enemy seems to be doing its best. Maybe you should say something to it...?
Either Compliment or Threaten the Froggit.

Whimsun

This poor thing seems already really nervous.
Whimsun can be spared right off the bat. If you Console it, it runs away.

Loox

It looks like a bit of a bully, but it's really just worried.
Use Don't Pick On.

Vegetoid

There's nothing this loves more than somebody eating healthily!
Use Meal, and then run into one of its green attacks. Don't worry, it heals you.

Migosp

It really just wants some alone time.
Spare all other enemies.

Moldsmal

Moldsmal isn't much of a fighter at all.
Moldsmal, like Whimsun, can be spared immediately. However, it would like to be danced with...

Napstablook

not really feeling up to it right now, sorry
Cheer him up three times.

Boss: Toriel

Do you remember what that third Froggit said?
Just keep using Spare. Toriel's attacks will start to veer away from you once you get down to low HP, so don't worry about dying.

Snowdin

Snowdrake

Snowdrake wants to be a comedian, but he needs somebody to practice on.
Check/Spare Snowdrake to let him crack a joke, then Laugh. Heckling him a lot will also let him be spared.

Icecap

Icecap seems a tad too attached to his hat.
Ignore him twice, then take his hat.

Gyftrot

Bet all those decorations on his horns are really uncomfortable.
Undecorate him until he's sparable. You can also give him a gift after that for a credits bonus.

Doggo

Doggo can't see what doesn't move. Perfect for scaring him out his wits!
Stay still whenever he attacks to avoid detection. Pet him until he's spareable.

Dogamy and Dogaressa

They pick up on things by smell. Maybe you can use this against them.
Roll, get Re-Sniffed and then Pet them.

Lesser Dog

It's an exciteable dog.
Pet it to make it spareable. If you keep petting it, eventually its attacks will stop, and you'll get a credits bonus.

Miniboss: Greater Dog

It's like any other dog: It just wants affection. It's a little out of reach, though.
Beckon it to you, then Pet it, Play with it, and Pet it again twice to make it spareable.

ugh, it's

Jerry

Nobody likes Jerry.
Spare everything else, then Ditch Jerry. You can't spare him, but Ditching ends the fight peacefully. Did I mention nobody likes him?

Optional Miniboss: Glyde

He wants your attention, but he's really obnoxious once he has it.
Applaud him twice, then Ignore him until you can Spare him.

Boss: Papyrus

Beware the Blue attack, and stay alive.
All you need to do to make him spareable is stay alive. Flirting with him yields some funny dialogue and lets you go on a date with him after the battle.

Waterfall

Aaron

He's got a competitive spirit, and man does he love his muscles.
Flex three times to make him flex himself out of the battle. If you encounter him while Napstablook's music is playing, you'll get a credits bonus.

Woshua

wosh u hands
Ask Woshua to Wash you, then run into a green bullet in his attack to be cleaned. If Napstablook's music is playing, he'll partner up with Aaron in a special encounter. He'll also run away if you hug a Moldbygg and try to touch him.

Moldbygg

Even gelatin monsters have their own personal space.
Unhug Moldbygg, and it'll be made happy by your respect of its boundaries. It can then be spared.

Temmie

Temmie's never met a human before.
Talk to Temmie. It'll let you Spare it after that. If you have Temmie Flakes in your inventory, you can feed it.

Miniboss: Mad Dummy

They really, really don't like you. Makes sense.
Lure its Dummy minions into shooting it. Once it pulls out the Dummy Bots, just stay alive. Eventually, Napstablook will intervene and you'll be able to escape.

Shyren

She's shy, but she has a love of music.
Hum to her and you'll be able to Spare her. Keep humming to have a cute scene where you and her have a concert together.

Boss: Undyne

They won't let you escape while your SOUL is green. Red, however...
Survive Undyne's attacks by using the spear jammed into your SOUL to block them. When your SOUL turns red again, run away and keep going north through the cave. She'll eventally collapse in Hotland. If you bring her water from the water cooler, you can go and cook with her at her house near Napstablook's.

Hotland

Miniboss: Mettaton (First Battle)

Quiz time!
Answer Mettaton's questions correctly. Alphys will give away the answers if you watch her hand gestures. The last question can't be answered wrongly - pick Undyne to watch Alphys squirm.

Vulkin

Vulkin just wants affection from you.
Vulkin can be spared by either Hugging it or Encouraging it. Hugging will lower your defense stat, and Encouraging will raise its attack stat.

Tsundereplane

Not like it likes you or anything, but it wouldn't mind if you got pretty close.
Approach it, but don't get too close to it - hitting those green zones around its attack should do the trick. You can then spare it.

Pyrope

There's no smoke without fire, and there's no fire without heat.
Heat Up the area twice. Be careful, because turning up the heat causes the screen to distort.

Miniboss: Royal Guards

Bet 02's armour is hot. Wonder if you can get him to take it off...?
Polish 02's armour (remember to hit the green attacks) until he takes it off. Whisper to 01 about confessing his feelings, and enjoy the result.

Boss: Muffet

You're being falsely accused! Show off your love of spiders.
Do you have anything from the bake sale in the Ruins? Eat it to end the battle. If you don't, just stay alive until a messenger spider appears to reveal you didn't kill any spiders (well, you didn't).

Secret: So Sorry

This artist isn't that good at their job.
Just survive. Eventually, So Sorry will leave. You can't Spare them, but waiting will end the battle peacefully.

The CORE

Whimsalot

They've made plans for their future, and they're following them religiously.
Pray and run into the green attacks. You can Spare them after this, or repeat to restore HP.

Final Froggit

They seem to know everything, but can they predict what you'll do next?
Mystify them to make them spareable.

Astigmatism

He always gets what he wants, so you should give it to him.
Wait a turn to see what they want you to do, then follow their instruction.

Knight Knight

Night night, Knight Knight.
Sing to her until she falls asleep. If you had a concert with Shyren, it takes two turns. Otherwise, it will take three. You can spare her while she's asleep.

Madjick

It's babbling about something... Maybe you could join in?
Talk to it - but beware, doing so will invert your controls. If you use Clear Mind before Talking, your controls won't be reversed.

Boss: Mettaton/Mettaton EX

Maybe you can impress them by getting their ratings pretty high.
In the first phase of the battle, survive until Alphys calls you. Flip Mettaton's switch and prepare for phase two. In this phase, Mettaton's ratings board will appear on the left. Almost anything you do will affect the ratings, and once you get to either 12,000 (before Mettaton's arms fall off) or 10,000 (after Mettaton's arms fall off) will end the battle.
Getting hit by an attack will cause a Violence rating boost.
Eating MTT brand food (food from the burger shop) will cause a rating boost.
Using the Pose action will cause a random rating boost.
Attacking Mettaton will cause a ratings boost.
Boasting will cause Mettaton's ratings to rise during his turn, but if you get hit you will incur a penalty.
When he asks you about what you like about him, saying "legs" will get you a ratings boost.
Using Turn Heel will increase the Violence boost.

Final Bosses (Neutral Pacifist)

Boss: Asgore Dreemurr

They think they deserve death for what they're going to do.
This is the only Pacifist battle where you're going to open the Attack menu. Since you no longer have your Mercy button, you're going to need to whittle down Asgore's health until it hits zero, when you'll be allowed to Spare him. Eating Toriel's pie during the fight will drop his stats sharply, as will talking to him three times.

Final Boss: Photoshop Flowey

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Like many other bosses, the only way to Spare Photoshop Flowey is to wait. Dodge his attacks until you get put into a human SOUL "minigame", and press your "use" key over the ACT button (when it appears) to recieve that SOUL's help. If you die, don't worry - the game will remember which SOULs you've asked to help you, and he'll gradually do less damage with each successive death. As the battle progresses, Photoshop Flowey will start to use savestates. Remember where you were when he saved and move when he loads the savestate. Once you've asked all the SOULs for help, Photoshop Flowey's defense stat will drop to zero, the ATTACK button will start appearing regularly, and healing items will drop sometimes. Once Photoshop Flowey's HP reaches zero (and the SOULs disable his saving ability), you can choose to either kill or spare him - neither option will impact your ability to get True Pacifist afterwards. Reloading a save from before the Asgore battle after this will allow you to achieve the True Pacifist ending by returning to the bridge between MTT Resort and the CORE - after befriending Papyrus, Sans and Undyne - to set off a chain of events leading to the True Lab.

The True Lab

Memoryhead (Sink Amalgamate)

These things are disturbing, but it seems they're trying to talk...
Use the Cell action, then Refuse. They'll leave.

, (Mirror Amalgamate)

The individual parts of this monstrocity seem familiar.
It's a mix of an Astigmatism, a Final Froggit, and a Whimsalot. Pick On it, Mystify it, and Pray to it to make it give up.

Lemon Bread (Save Amalgamate)

Welcome to its special hell, where the parts of its body don't match.
This is a mix of Shyren, Moldbygg and Aaron. Hum to it, Unhug it, and Flex with it to make it spareable.

Endogeny (Dog Amalgamate)

It might be a leaky, gooey mess, but it's still an exciteable dog.
Remember Greater Dog? You spare this in the same way. Beckon, Pet, Play, Pet, Pet.

Snowdrake's Mother (Fridge Amalgamate)

Poor, poor thing. Maybe you can cheer her up a little.
Joke with her until she seems happy.

True Pacifist Final Boss

True Final Boss Phase 1: Asriel Dreemurr

This is it. Your hopes and dreams have all lead to this moment.
Survive his attacks.

True Final Boss Phase 2: Angel of Death, Asriel Dreemurr

Time to SAVE the world.
Use the SAVE option to reach out to each of your friends in turn. Restore their SOULs by doing actions that would be familiar to them (Joke with Sans, Puzzle with Papyrus and so on). Then SAVE Asriel's soul by repeatedly using the SAVE command on him. Enjoy your happy ending. You've earned it.

I got it my first playthrough, idk what you're on about. My cousin made me buy the game and told me "whatever you do, never attack" I got the True Pacifist ending my very first runthrough of the game, so saying you can't is completely false.
