How to analyze float values
By hsoj
If you're stuck with a knife and can't trade it up just check the float. I had no idea that I had the 11th best Huntsman Night until I checked it. Right after I did, it traded an hour later. There's still hope, and plenty of knives in the trading rotation. Patience is key, but also determination. If you have any other questions about trading, feel free to add me.

Analyzing and Pricing by using float values
How to analyze and price float values

So you've got a cool knife? Or maybe not, but you can still trade it up as there's still hope. If you've ever noticed your knife to look better then other knives with the same condition you should probably check the float value. The float value is basically the condition of your knife or the wear (BS, WW, FT, MW, and FN) to a number.

Battle-Scarred: 0.44 - 1.00
Well-Worn: 0.37 - 0.44
Field-Tested: 0.15 - 0.37
Minimal Wear: 0.07 - 0.15
Factory New: 0.00 - 0.07

Now you may ask yourself, why does this even matter? Well, I can give you a personal example. I had a Huntsman Night Minimal Wear, but it had an almost Factory New float value. Factory new Huntsman Night's go over the community market's price cap ($400). Since my knife was so close to a Factory New I was able to price my knife well over market value. If you're trying to trade-up or just looking to upgrade always be sure to check the float values of your knife and the one being obtained.

Two sites you can check float values at:
Steam Analyst[csgo.steamanalyst.com]
CsGO Exchange[csgo.exchange]

As floats can be good, they can also do you harm. If you were to not check the float value of a knife being obtained it could have a horrible float and look terrible in-game. As knives can be close to the next level of wear, they can also be close to the previous level. This can possibly screw you, as many traders will look at these things and quite often decline a fair priced trade because of it's float. As you go more in-depth with trading, this will become a habit for you.

To wrap-up, if you're stuck with a knife and can't trade it up just check the float. I had no idea that I had the 11th best Huntsman Night until I checked it. Right after I did, it traded an hour later. There's still hope, and plenty of knives in the trading rotation. Patience is key, but also determination.
