PSA: Kicking Hackers and Other Pests
By CheeseManFuu
Kicking hackers and other pests is annoying and most of the time they will leave and reconnect if you kick them through the vote menu so they aren't affected. This method will help kick them and keep them kicked.

Let's kick these sons of Gray Mann.
DISCLAIMER/NOTE: THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON SERVERS THAT HAVE THE VOTE MENU ENABLED. THIS IS BEST TO USE ON THOSE SERVERS AND VALVE SERVERS. MOST COMMUNITY SERVERS HAVE THE VOTE MENU DISABLED AND IS USUALLY REPLACED BY A PLUGIN TO KICK PEOPLE OR CALL AN ADMIN.

Edit like literally 5 years later: Yeah given the new circumstances of post-Matchmaking Update and the torrent of newer cheats and script kiddies that are going unreprimanded I cannot guarantee that this information is useful anymore. The lack of being able to change team on Valve servers makes it impossible to first use basic judgement to go into spectator and see if suspected cheaters are actually using cheats, plus not being able to vote the other team for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason why leads to 6-stacks being able to literally kill servers with no consequence and retort. It's total bull, and Valve needs to stop being so content with this horrific handling of their broader community. Valve, please, step up the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ effort. In the meantime, I sympathize with the people who go into this guide expecting a method that works and makes the game at least a bit mildly fun again like 2012. You deserve better. I've changed a lot since I made this guide, and so has Valve, for the worse. I grew with Valve, but Valve has completely regressed, and it saddens me.

Hello fine players of Team Fortress 2. I may not be a familiar face but I would like to share a nice tip to get rid of pesky hackers, micspammers and the like who disconnect and reconnect when you try to kick them through the menu to make them not affected by the vote.

The first thing you want to do is going to be enabling your console. The way you do this is by going into options on your main menu, going into the Keyboard tab (which should be open by default), and clicking the Advanced button close to the bottom of the menu. This should make a little pop-up with two options with a check box: "Fast weapon switch" (I recommend you use this always) and "Enable developer console". You'll want to click the box so that a little checkmark appears in it. Now you can open up the console using the tilde key (~) that should be located close to the top left of your keyboard. A list of commands to get started with using the console can be located here, but we are focusing on two commands here.

The next thing you want to do is type "status" in your console while in a server. It should look like the photo to the side. The players and their Steam3ID (which looks like: [U:#:########]) have been blurred out just for the sake of anonymity. The numbers to the side in the red box are the key to kicking them. This number will never change, even if they change their in-game name, unless they disconnect and reconnect.

Then, with their status number, you will want to type "callvote kick [status number]". This will start a vote to kick that person, and even if they disconnect and reconnect, the vote will successfully kick and temporarily ban them from that server so long as the majority of people on the server vote Yes. And now you're good. The server can now go back to its peaceful state and you can go kill some mercenaries without the disruption of a hacker or other issues.

Console voting is same exact thing as pressing escape and calling a vote.. If a hacker has anti kick and you use this it still will not work. If you did not know anti kick only works one time. If they rejoin the server and are kicked again they will be kiced and temp banned from the server.

This method of kicking is only good for kicking players in mvm before they join or kicking player who hide in spectator.

Too bad admins abuse the fuck outta this. Went on a server, some guy was abusing his admin abilities. Thought he was a hacker, tried to vote kick him, it failed with more yes votes than no, then a vote was called against me, this failed yet I still got kicked.
