Also note that I'm using a wired xbox 360 controller, and if your controller is not working, maybe it's time for a new controller.

Just a thought...

The first number is my gamepad default numbers, the second set of numbers is what they have assigned in-game.

mine - games ->

8 - 9 -> Start = Menu / Pause
7 - 8 -> Back = Gesture
- Dpad Up = Switch Crew
- Dpad Down = Switch Crew
- Dpad Left = Toggle Mini-Map
- Dpad Right = Toggle Mini-Map
5 - 4 -> LB = Center Camera
6 - 5 -> RB = Unique Action
z-axis - 6 -> LT = LOCK ON!!!!
z-axis - 7 -> RT = Kizuna Attack
- *Left Stick = Move Character
- *Right Stick = Move Camera
1 - 2 -> A = Dash / Evade
2 - 3 -> B = Special Attack Gauge 1
3 - 0 -> X = Standard Attack
4 - 1 -> Y = Range Attack

*Stick Buttons do nothing as far as I know.*

I have an offcial one, so I would say try to get your money back if you can and maybe look at microcenters or fry's for a official one. I hope this helps.
