Introduction
Hey guys! Let's talk about mastery ranks today!
Trove is largely about collecting. Almost everything that you collect and complete within the game gives you Mastery Points. For every 100 of these points you gain 1 Mastery Rank. As you level up your Rank, you gain rewards that range from statistical gains, store currency to unique cosmetic rewards. Currently the final reward is received at Rank 200 - often see as "max", though it is possible to reach around 230 if you collect everything in game. It is possible to reach max without spending any real money, as you can buy store items from players with in game currency
First of all, I will make a FAQ about the main ideas of this guide.
Then I'll show different ways on how to get mastery points.

Special thanks to Sheepski for it's comments and support.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is mastery?

Basically, it represents the in-game progress. It grants you rewards as you rank up, such as wings, access to challenges and other things, we'll talk about rewards below.
You start at rank 1 and can go up to rank 200 (no rewards after).
You level up your rank every 100 mastery point.

What are the rewards?

You can check out the different rewards here : My guide about Mastery Rewards

How do I level-up my mastery?

You basically level up by playing : Fishing, loot collecting stuff, unlocking collectibles, obtaining badges, levelling up professions...
Pressing Y will show you up almost everything that makes you earn mastery.
But let's talk about different ways to earn mastery.
Ways to earn mastery points
Loot collecting weapons, hats and masks
You can start doing dungeons and grabbing some weapons, hats and masks. Loot collecting new ones will grant you styles.
Every new style grants you at least 1 mastery. Helmets gives you more, like the Radiant Corona (10 points) which is earned from Radiant Caches.

Fishing
Like loot collecting equipment, fishes grant you mastery points.
Common ones gives you 5 points, Uncommon 10, and Rares 25.
This is also a good way to earn glim to buy allies and sails from the pirate vendors!
I let you check This guide about fishing by yourself.

Recipes
You can learn Recipes for 2 mastery points.
Recipe hunting can also be a good way to make flux, because loot collecting recipes you already have grants you blank scrolls that can be used in runecrafting (an expensive profession which is great for leveling mastery) or to be sold.

Sails and Allies
You can get sails and allies mainly at the pirate merchants (red sails) for glim.
Common of both types gives you 10 points, Uncommon 20, and Rares 50.

Flasks, Emblems, Costumes
Every Flask, Costume or Emblem grants you 25 mastery points. They can be unlocked through the store or by trading with other players. They are unlockable with in-game currency (cubits) or paid currency (credits)

Tomes
Tomes are unlocked at a Shadow arena by using Heart's of Darkness(rare drop from Shadow Chests) in the Shadowy Market or by runecrafting. They grant you 20 mastery point each.

Mounts, Mag Riders, Boats
Mounts and Mag riders grants you 50 mastery. They can be purchased at store, crafted from different benches or even unlocked through different caches. You can also get these at treasure isles, but the sails are cheaper for better rates.
Adult dragons will grant you 100 mastery points and Legendary dragons grant you 250.
You gain a total of 475 mastery points for getting 30 azulian souls or 90 neon souls ascended.
Uncommon boats will grant you 100 points.

Wings
Wings can be purchased at store or obtained by watching streams, as well as from caches.
They grant you 100 points (1 mastery level) each.

Levelling classes
Every class level will grant you 15 points.
Level 20 will grant you 125 points instead.
Counting the costumes, a class will grant you 18 * 15 (levels) + 25 (costumes) * 3 + 125 (level 20) = 470 points.

Badges
You can have a look at the different badges available. They grant you some rewards and mastery points.
There are Quest counters, boxes opened, and way more.

Levelling up professions
Ringcrafting, Gardening and Runecrafting are the 3 available professions.
Every 50 levels of those you unlock new crafts and get 75 Mastery points.
It's worth noting that while runecrafting is expensive, you gain an additional 100 mastery points per level (175 instead of 75) if you learn the 50 block recipes that you craft.
A more detailed guide about how to level-up professions is available here : AwsmAssassin's guide to level-up professions
How to level up mastery ?
Here i'll talk about efficient ways to earn mastery :

I highly recommend to follow this rating guide , the less expensive items are really suitable early on !

Starting with the mastery (level 5 and less) :

Almost anything you will do earns you mastery ! Focus on doing some dungeons and level up classes. The first 500 points will come really fast !

Keep levelling up after lv 5 (for level 30 and 70 or less) :

Those may not be the best but to my mind they are good.
You should notice the ringcrafting and gardenning proffessions that have good rates too !

Crafting mounts

Some mounts can be crafted at the adventurer's bench and they grants a lot of mastery points with chear ressources, you should have a look at this.

Fishing and buying sails/allies from pirates merchants.

Since fishing grants you a lot of glims and loot-collecting fishes grants you mastery, it is a good way to level up.
Use the glims you get at treasure isles merchants to unlock some sails to get more mastery points.
You can also have a look at the soultrap merchants, buying some and opening them will grant you some common allies (and maybe some uncommon or even rare, who knows ?) and grant you mastery points for really cheap!

Leveling up classes

Remember, one of the rewards before level 100 is cubits.
Also, cubits enable you to unlock classes, and levelling those classes up grants you 470 mastery points ( 4 levels and 70%).
By doing the daily quests, you will be able to buy a new class at every class level 20, that is a good way to level up mastery really fast.
Also, by levelling up those, you will earn some new styles that will be added to your collection.

Adding friends

Trove is a multiplayer game and you will need some people to help you ! Finding friends and a club will help you ! People usually helps each other and sell for less in clubs. There is also a bunch of badges about adding friends ! 25 of them will grant you 60 mastery total !

End-game ranking up :

After rank 80-90 mastery, it will become harder to earn mastery points.
You will have to complete almost every way quoted above to reach level 200. So you can choose to do them one by one or keep playing and earning mastery globally.

I am referring to "Sails and Allies" in "Ways to earn mastery points" where you state that sails give 25 mastery points each. There are some other sails that give 50 and some that give 10 mastery points.

What are you talking about? I know that mounts have a worse rate, it's in my steam guide about rates...
And there's not written anywhere that the mounts are cheaper than sails... The only thing that is specified about mounts is CRAFTING some, and those crafted ones are goot for levelling up mastery.
Chrizie Sep 12, 2015 @ 2:25am
Close but not quite accurate. I suggest you look into sails some more as they also have different rarities and as such they have different mastery points. That and they are in fact cheaper and more common than mount vendors, as a 5000 glim sail gives 50 mastery points, same as a 9000 glim mount. So sails are cheaper mastery than the mounts, and you find 4 sails per merchant as opposed to 1 mount. Update it and you've gotten yourself a great guide!
