Introduction
Hello, wanderer (or shaman or warrior, I don't judge)! I wrote this guide in an effort to create a comprehensive walkthrough on becoming the Galaxy's greatest Guardian Hitchhiker being.

Now, it might seem confusing at first (namely because Spore itself is confusing) but bear with me and try to take in as much of it as possible. Now, to set the stage:

In the beginning, there was a comet...
Cell Stage
And out popped you!

Hello again! Here's a quick rundown of the traits of the cell stage and the consequence abilities you gain from them!

(Quick user key:
"1." will tell you the color of the trait (this comes in handy in the space stage),
"2." will tell you the consequences and effects of those consequences by stage,
"3." will tell you how the traits are achieved,
"4." will tell you the activation cheat for the trait,
"5." will tell you any additional information you may need to know)

Herbivore
The trait for cows, sheep, and vegans.

  1. Green

  2. Creature Stage: Siren Song - Calms attackers and boosts socialization

Tribal Stage: Refreshing Storm - The Cheiftan calls a storm that replinishes fruit on trees

Civilization Stage: Healing Aura - Heals buildings and vehicles in a chosen radius (also lowers epics in the radius to 1 health)

Space Stage: Social Suave - Gives a passive 20% discount on social tools from your homeworld and colonies

  3. Eat the green particles and lots of them with the tendril mouth. Basically, be a herbivore.

  4. setconsequencetrait cell_herbivore

  5. Herbivore mouths have slightly better singing capabilities than the other mouths in creature stage, so be ready for some high social regard by the lower-level walkers.

Omnivore
The trait for dogs, monkeys, and the creators of Spam.

  1. Blue

  2. Creature Stage: Summon Flock - Summons a number of smallish, winged creatures to aid in combat or socialization

Tribal Stage: Flying Fish - Calls upon a sea monster which throws fish out to land for collection

Civilization Stage: Static Bomb - Temporarily stuns all buildings, vehicles, and turrets in its radius

Space Stage: Gentle Generalist - Gives a passive 25% discount on passive tools

  3. Pay attention to your timeline and eat both animals and green particles to get the line centered. To be able to eat both, you must kill a cell with the proboscis mouth and replace your mouth with the sucker.

  4. setconsequencetrait cell_omnivore

  5. Omnivore mouths are slightly better-rounded with bite and sing abilities and also have more human-shaped alternatives.

Carnivore
The trait for lions, sharks, and Hannibal Lecter.

  1. Red

  2. Creature Stage: Raging Roar - Makes creatures not a part of your pack (and not epic or rogue) turn and run from you in fear

Tribal Stage: Traps - The cheiftan sets a trap which lures in creatures that are then killed and made available to harvest

Civilization Stage: Invulnerability - Makes your vehicles invulnerable for a short amount of time

Space Stage: Power Monger - Makes your space age weapons a bit more effective

  3. Eat those red pellets and kill anything that moves.

  4. setconsequencetrait cell_carnivore

  5. Carnivore mouths have an advantage on the bite ability, effectively making your bite much worse than your bark

And out from underneath sprouted... stubs?
Creature Stage
Oh, wait. They're just legs.

Hopefully you're getting the hang of it, just be sure to work out those legs; there's a big journey ahead.

Social
Singing, dancing, and charming your way into sentience.

  1. Green

  2. Tribal Stage: Fireworks - Boosts relations with tribes, akin to giving a gift

Civilization Stage: Diplo Dervish - Temporarily raises your relationship with another nation to friendly

Space Stage: Pleasing Performance - Makes your colonies happy, and reduces likelihood of revolts

  3. Sing, dance and play. Avoid attacking any creatures

  4. setconsequencetrait creature_social

  5. Foreign animals you add to your pack get put in a pen once you advance to the tribal stage, so keepthat in mind if you want cool tribal pets.

Adaptable
Sometimes, you just have to dance and kill a few things, kind of like Christian Bale in American Psycho.

  1. Blue

  2. Tribal Stage: Beastmaster - Calls nearby animals to help your chieftan fight or socialize

Civilization Stage: Bribe Bomb - Makes all vehicles in the bomb's radius (except for your own) attack each other

Space Stage: Speed Demon - Passively makes your spaceship faster

  3. Pay attention to your timeline again and find that perfect balance of friends and killing.

  4. setconsequencetrait creature_adaptable

  5. Rogue animals come in handy here, boosting both social and fighting skill.

Predator
Make those other creatures run straight for the chopper.

  1. Red

  2. Tribal Stage: Fire Bombs - Gives your chieftan the ablity to through fire bombs which burn builings and tribe members to great effect, but do reduced damage to main huts.

Civilization Stage: Mighty Bomb - Launches a bomb in the selected area, damaging nearby cities and vehicles

Space Stage: Prime Specimen - Passively gives your spaceship more health

  3. Kill, kill, and kill some more.

  4. setconsequencetrait creature_predator

  5. Add your own animals to your pack, because the others are going to hate you.

You're sentient now. Don't do anything dumb.
Tribal Stage
And you dropped the stick on your head, good work.

TRIBAL STAGE! This stage is pretty simple, and technically lacking, but there's still traits to be had, so get ready.

Friendly
About to go to war? Put on a concert. Easy fix.

  1. Green

  2. Civilization Stage: Black Cloud - Launches a black cloud, which rains down diseased animals, shutting down entertainment buildings and turrets

Religious
The Inquisition and the Crusades combined ain't got nothing on this.

  1. Green

  2. Space Stage: Green Keeper - Reduces the chance on biodisasters in your colonies

  4. setconsequencetrait civilization_religious

Now, for space stage, it should be noted that you can change your archetype mid-stage by becoming allies with a nation and doing their "Teach me your ways." mission. (Completing this mission will change your archetype to match theirs.)

It's an old game, but enjoy it. Spore and the galaxy await.

And in the end, there was a comet.

Also, Power Monger is the source of +50% energy, it's far more than "weapons a bit more effective". That applies to literally all of your tools, including energy-intensive terraforming equipment.

Don't sleep on Carnivore.

I vehemently disagree with the "no best set of cards for Scientist" when there's really only one good option to begin with. This is my favored set for any Spore run, as I prefer to have these bonuses, then switch archetypes later on. The cards in question are Carnivore/Predator/Industrious/Economic.

R/R/B/B gives you +50% health and energy, 20% discount on colony tools purchased from your own empire, and +50% spice production. This is by far the most powerful set of cards in the game, the only switch worth considering being Industrious to Friendly for R/R/G/B. +10 relationship is deceptively good and this is probably the only combo worth using to get the Knight archetype.

Personally I prefer Industrious in case I don't have good friendly empires around for cheaper colony tools (colonies are fucking expensive yo) but arguments can definitely be made for Friendly.
