How To: ANY FONT IN CS:GO (not only from fonts.spddl.de)
Oleh Quarz
We all know you can change your font from fonts.spddl.de, but they are limited and don't have a large variety . In this tutorial, I will show you how easy it really is to get ANY (yes any) font into CS:GO. It's not hard at all and gives you much more freedome than simply choosing from the web as you can import virtually any font into the game.

Intro
Ever wanted any font in CS:GO? Thought the fonts on fonts.spddl.de were boring or not the right thing? Well in this How-To I'll show you how you can get any font in CS:GO.

First off, back-up any files you modify so you can easily go back to the original font if something goes wrong. Also, you won't get VAC banned by this, so stop asking! This requires no installation of programs.

If you screw up and the game somehow doesn't work, I'm not to blame, you are doing this AT YOUR OWN RISK. In additon, some fonts might not work as they could be too big or are incomplete, so watch out for this.

Ready? Ok, let's start
Getting A Font
Firstly, find a font you'd like to be your game in, all up to you.
A good, safe website for fonts is http://www.dafont.com/, so pick one.

For the purpose of this tutorial, I'll choose Allstar[www.dafont.com].

Once downloaded and extracted, you will hopefully have a .ttf file, ready to be used.
Converting
The .ttf file has to be converted to a .swf in order to be used in CS:GO. For this, use this website[www.sifrgenerator.com] (it's safe and a simple conversion).

After uploading the .ttf file, choose the first option (no clue what it does, but it works) and click next until you get to download the .swf file.

At this point, rename you file to fontlib_yourfontname.swf

THIS STEP IS ESSENTIAL, IF NOT RENAMED IT WILL NOT WORK

Inserting
Now comes the tricky (well not really) part.
Find the file fontmapping.cfg under the path C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\resource\flash

Open this file in Notepad or some other text editor. Now, in the 4th line, rename the fontlib.swf file to the name of your .swf file (in my case fontlib_AS.swf)

Next, replace every "Stratum2 something" with the NAME of your font (just take the one on the website). This should be 4 times the case.

Save your file and you're almost done. Just move your .swf file to the same path as the fontmapping file and it's finished!!!
ENJOY!!
Finished, have this for proof that it works:

Post questions below if something wasn't clear, I'll try to answer.If you got any issues, please try to help each other out! I'll try to help as many as I can, but I found this out by trial and error, so no guarantee I can help.

Have fun with your new, good looking CS:GO.

I did exactly as was explained in your very clear tutorial. Nothing changes. Is using this method of changing a Font in CS GO no longer possible in 2020?

Nice guide. Thanks for it.

Do you know how to change the font size? Is it possible to make the text on the scoreboard bigger?

Doesn't work, i can get some text working like the Play, Inventory, Watch, Awards and Options text working but everything else is just a bunch of bars.

Still works in 2017, select Full character set of the font file in the generator to get special chars like åäö :D
But I'm having the same issues as TheGitz is having and the fix DManstrator mentioned didn't help.

for some reason the fontmapping.cfg is different for me. just before the line "$BigButtonFont" line there is a this:
// The fonts we have in fontlib.fla are:
// "Stratum2 Bold", "normal"
// "Stratum2 Regular", "normal"
// "Stratum2 Medium", "normal"
// "Arial Unicode MS", "normal" --- this is the fallback font

// We are MISSING the following, which are now mapped to Stratum2 Regular:
// "Counter-Strike"
// "Forgotten Futurist"
// "cs"

what is this and why dont you have that? also should i rename the "Stratum2 Bold" and the others there too?
