Stargate Universe 4 Galaxies Map

Description
Factions placement order (at opponents setup): 1. Tau'ri 2. Goa'uld 3. Wraith 4. Asuran 5. Ancients 6. Asgard 7. Ori
-- Bottom: Milky Way planets 5-10. Top: Pegasus planets 10 and above. Left/Right: Alteran/Ida galaxies with planets 26. -- Contains all the familiar named places in the SG universe. The map has a story realistic gameplay setup. Distances are real huge, forcing you to actually expand your range by starbase buoys, and optionally by switching planets. Therefore 'control point' defense, territorial fortifications and waves of strong invasion fleets are key elements here. Factions compete like in the story, at the right place and time IF ordered right (see above). Recommended to play as Tau'ri for the real challenge.

Edits: - If you want to play as NON-TAU'RI and the game messes up (Currently IT WILL!!!) - then alternatively you can edit the map, then find YOUR homeworld for that faction you want to play as, set it to "human players only" and save it. Then apply the default order seen above (excluding your race). - Check out your success easily with the 'Ancients' as they can see all of the starting points. It is your work from now on, until proper fixes and updates. Good luck!

2. The Map contains some vague Easter Eggs / Story References. Find them! Check out the SG Wiki for more details of the worlds.

Well... it is not a bad idea, but it takes a lot of time to test the setups, not to have any errors, and there are so many different variations. Some players mod it, adjusting to their tastes, like less habitable planets or more resources. A lot of DLC content is also available which some players have and add to it, while others don't. I think it is just easier to edit the map and races as you like, it is simple if you know what to do. Easier than modding multiple maps. I think a default map which is available for everyone is better. The game should have more flexible options and tools.

This is gonna sound super dumb, but any chance you could upload different map files, for each playable race? (So we don't have to edit it ourselves if we play a dif race)

HAHA!!! :D Noooo, the locations of pirates are also intentional! They represent the inner conflicts between Goa'uld lords and factions (to hold them back), and later on the role of the Lucian Alliance (who are pirates). This balances the Tau'ri's lower spaceship military capabilities, to give a head start, and is a significant story element. I wanted to add minor races too, like the Tok'ra, Vanir, Travelers etc. but the map editor did not allow it. The map editor is rather limited in options, and I cannot make ship styles for races to use until there is no option to make whole ship-style packages, not just individual ships. As I heard the AI now extends their range by starbases, which is the reason why this map is designed on that play style. It was never easy to travel between galaxies in the show, so it should mean a challenge here as well. The Wraith and Ori storylines were heavily shaped influenced by these factors. These things makes it more realistic, feeling more alive...

Thanks for the strat and the idea to mimic the "midway station" heh, the thought never ocurred to me. I ended up going aggressive on second play and got a better headstart, the pirates decided to mostly spawn in guaol territory this time so helped a lot lol. They are on the verge of being crushed early on and will setup a midway station :) yeah, I agree updating it a little with the newly released content but you should keep this one the same for those that don't have them. A lot of people don't like to shell out extra money on dlcs and its nice to have a stargate world available to all. I own all dlcs but mercenary atm, dunno if its worth the 20 dollars but probably will end up buying it lol the game is entertaining. Much like crusader kings 2 in terms of strategy and mod capabilities, though ck2 is a little more immersive in that regard.

That is very good to hear! :D I have tried my best to simulate it. It could be updated with newly released content though (especially in terms of planets). Feel free to edit anything for your preferences. Well, the latter is intentional. You need to establish the "Midway Station" placing "stargates" between the galaxies - that is starbase buoys in this case, and you need to protect them. Or it is worth to switch planets with the Ancients early on if you are able to. Then you are lucky that the Ori were not that agressive!

good map, and it felt extremely very much to stargate universe. I never made it to pegasus but one of my long range survey ships was spotted by the wraith and about 100 turns later after almost driving the guaol out of my galaxy the wraith showed up sporting a fleet of extremely powerful ships decimating everything in there wake. Now most of my galaxy have become cattle and I'm left thinking of a new strategy next time.

They must be downloaded separately, yes.

Are the races somehow included into the map? Or does one have to download them separately?

Durantium = Trinium (super strong metal for spaceships)
Thuluim = Naquadah or Naquadria (instable energy resource for tech)
Elerium = ZPM or other high energy source (from Ancient tech)
Promethion = Toxin or chemical gas (for bio superweapons)
Antimatter = Antimatter (replacing black hole energy utilization for SG)
